Great food with a great mission

We were so excited to eat at Strecha tonight. The restaurant is large and bright. When we first entered we thought it was small, but the restaurant is in the shape of an L and has about three separate seating areas on the long arm. We sat in the very end room which had a couch with a low table and a chess set and a monopoly game. Our servers were very nice and spoke to us in English.
We ordered the dumplings on red cabbage and the fried cheese with fries. It was great to get to try some traditional Czech dishes veganized. The food was delicious and the portions were generous - we sadly weren't able to finish our meals because we ran out of room.
We were happy to purchase a pending meal for someone in need.

Great concept, food could be better

We had the fried cheese, soy goulash and bbq ribs. Ribs and fried cheese was good, goulash wasn’t my favorite to be honest. That dish was missing some veggies and so did the others to be honest. Fried cheese was amazing & so were the fries. Apricot cake was tiny bit dry but still yummy

Pros: Friendly staff

Nice concept

The food was okay, but I love the concept. The staff was sweet but a little uninvolved. I will recommend and come back, though!

Elegant Spot. Hearty Food.

Eating at Bistro Stretcha while visiting Prague was a memorable experience. I love that the high quality of its social mission (employing formerly incarcerated people) matches the high quality of its food. It was a chilly evening when I ate there: that's why the Fries with 3 Dips dish and the Gnocchi with Dried Tomato Pesto / Black Olives / Tomatoes was satisfying. This is a must-try spot when you're in Prague.

The best smazak in Prague

I love the concept that the ex-prisoners can work there. It makes this place unique. The meals are so delicious, totally fell in love with their fried cheese.

Amazing place, great ethos and fab food

We ate here on our recent trip to Prague. It was about a 25 min walk from Wenceslas Square and took a little navigating but we were so pleased we went.
We had the kebab wrap and Toasts for starters: both delicious. The seitan here is incredibly soft and tasty! The 'Toasts' is a toasted cheese, olives and courgette sandwich served with ketchup: great comfort food.
For mains, we had the mixed veg salad (I was too full from the toasted cheese sandwich for anything else!) and the Kebab plate.
We had a lovely bottle of red wine.
Our meal was served leisurely but not too slowly and it felt like a really easy place to have a long evening meal with friends. We payed less than the equivalent of £30 UK including donating two meals to people in need.
The staff are chilled & friendly.
We would DEFINITELY recommend this place.

Pros: Great ethos, Tasty comfort food, Not in the centre of tourist town

Cons: none

The food was great but the vegan cheese was not the best. I liked the dumplings tho. Great prices and amazing service.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Great service

Cons: Not so tasty food like vegan cheese

Truly good vibe and good food!

We visited on the 23d of December, they had snitzel with mashed potato for free or by donation. We thought it was such an incredible thing to do right around Christmas, and seems to be doing incredible things all year around. The food was super good and the place had a great feeling about it 😌

Great prices and we enjoyed everything

Ordered the schnitzel, kebab plate and the fries and it was all amazing and came with great sauces. Didn’t look amazing when it came but tasted great and the place had a great atmosphere! Very cheap for such great food. The unfiltered beer tasted good but made me feel a bit ill so wouldn’t recommend.

Amazing cause, very reasonable prices, satisfactory food. This is such a wonderful place and I go here whenever I'm in the neighborhood. The ability to pre-pay a lunch for someone in need (for only 120 CZK) is great. Highly recommend!!

Good food, good ambience for a good cause

Entire vegan menu, that has weekly rotating special menus. Burgers are good and I would recommend ordering a coffee or one of the Chric beers to help a good cause.
Both their beer and coffee are from companies that employ handicapped people.

Pros: Supporting good causes, Good food
