Go To Heaven On Earth at Sticky Sweet... - Edit

I was surprised that Portland, Maine had a place so vegan, so delicious and so heavenly that I could enjoy myself without having to ask if everything was vegan BECAUSE it is VEGAN and as good as it gets ! Of course take a scope of the lightest beige rice u ever had - and have a scope of vegan ice cream, --the pure maple one, if you can.
"Ashley" was sweet too, beating me to the heartfelt remark : "It's so nice to meet another vegan". I usually say it first when I meet a vegan, but it feels good to know it's happening and we are on our way to civilization on earth.

Pros: Delightful rice texture & lightness of V-ice Cream, no white sugars used and remarkably clean. , Meeting the sweetest vegan people on earth

yum - Edit

Very tasty sticky rice! In a perfect world, maybe they'd have chocolate of some sort.

Great food and service - Edit

This is a great little stand in the Portland Public Market House. The owner is very warm and friendly, with progressive signs reaffirming that all are welcome. She said she spent a year in Thailand and decided that when she returned home, she wanted to be able to have sticky rice every day. Lucky for us!

You get a scoop of brown rice with fruit and sweet coconut milk-based sauce. There are two sizes, and while neither is very large, it's a filling dish. You can choose from Maine blueberries, banana, or the traditional mango. Our group loved all three, although the mango won by a nose for me. The brown rice worked really well, and everyone (including those of us who aren't as keen on sticky rice as the owner) enjoyed our meal.

The ice cream (coconut and cashew-based) was also excellent and very creamy (not icy, as some small batch vegan ice creams can be). We tried all five flavors, and I especially liked the cinnamon cookie dough. The GF waffle cones were nice and crunchy, and worked out well for us even though we are all big gluten fans.

It was nice to see that a group called Foodie Tours was taking people to the market specifically to try this sticky rice. I hope that means it will be a hit with omnis, too!

Pros: delicious and reasonably healthy , disposable spoons are made of bamboo, waffle cones!

Cons: not a stand-alone restaurant (yet)--but plenty of

Lovely dessert/snack - Edit

We stopped by for mid afternoon sweets. The mango rice was really awesome. The mango was perfectly ripened and super flavorful. The rice and coconut milk had just the right amount of sweetness. And all of it was lovingly prepared by a really nice worker. She even let us try their vegan ice creams while we waited for our rice. They has had strawberry jam, blueberry, and salted caramel flavors. All three were delicious, and I especially liked the strawberry jam one.

I'll definitely be back!

Pros: Sweet mango, Nice worker, Great ice cream

[I] Might As Well Face It, I'm Addicted to Sticky Sweet! - Edit

Whether you're a vegetarian, a vegan, an omnivore, a carnivore (can I even say that here?) or whatever...once you try the fantastic and delicious treats being served by these two lovely ladies you too will be hooked. Suffice it to say I'm a big fan and whether I'm having my Sticky Sweet for lunch or dessert, I find myself craving any of the luscious offerings - wild blueberries, mangoes, bananas, strawberries (soon I'm told) more times than I care to admit. The very best and very healthy form of addicition.

Pros: Quality Ingredients, Incredibly Delicious, Service With A Smile!

Cons: You Kidding Me? NONE!

Delicious - Edit

We stumbled into the building that houses Sticky Sweet during a blizzard, and we were offered samples of the blueberry sticky rice while we warmed up. The staff were so friendly and available for questions and discussion about the product and business. The sticky rice was absolutely delicious. It is not quite a meal- more a late breakfast, snack, or dessert. It's great to have vegan sticky rice in Portland!

Pros: Great service, Excellent product, delicious and vegan, Not expensive

Cons: Small menu of dessert-ish sticky rice choices
