Lovely hotel, beautiful food

We stayed for 2 nights and also ate lunch and dinner in the restaurant.
Breakfast: hot food options were porridge, scrambled tofu and beans and there was a selection of cold items in the buffet. All very healthy and I particularly enjoyed the the berries and nuts to top my porridge.
Lunch: selection of small plates, beautifully presented. My favourite was the mushroom 'scallops'
Cheeseboard: cheeses from I am Nut OK and Honestly Tasty so nothing really new or local, but still nice.
Dinner: the 5 course tasting menu was excellent. Each course was well thought out and looked beautiful. The poached pear salad with granola was the most surprising combo but was very good.
Overall, worth the trip!

A sanctuary of compassion

I don't want to leave! We spent two nights here and it was ideal. The room was so cozy and incredibly quiet. Then to be able to wake up to a tasty vegan breakfast and then to walk around quaint Pitlochry...jusy wonderful! The dinners were delicious too! The inn is near the train station and was access to Edinburgh. Enjoy some homemade yogurt for me!

Perfect place for a getaway

Booked a stay here for part of our honeymoon after following this place from a far. During our two night stay we tried plenty of cocktails, sharing plates, and the 5 course dinner. On the last morning we enjoyed the breakfast spread - so yum! Staff is friendly, products are lovely, and you’re a short walk away from the village or a hike to the Black Spout. Next time we’re trying the cheeseboard and the cocktail class! 🙌🏻

Pros: Kind staff, beautiful aesthetic

Cons: Pricy

A fancy treat

What a great stay! The rooms (and hotel in general) are very comfortable, the decor and atmosphere very cool, the staff is very pro, welcoming and helpful and the restaurant, and talented cooks provide a fine dining experience.
The fact that everything is vegan makes it so much better!
I highly recommend booking a stay at Saorsa 1875, you won't regret it!

Stylish ‘special occasion’ stay

We stayed overnight in the ‘Superior’ Otter room and had the 5 course dinner, breakfast and then 3 course Christmas lunch. The bedroom and bathroom were comfortable and stylish and we enjoyed the extra space to relax by the fire in the communal lounge/bar. We weren’t ‘wowed’ by the food but it was tasty, attractively presented and plentiful. We saw red squirrels in the lovely communal grounds. Purchased the wine and cheese board but it was too much at the end of the evening meal - would have preferred it in our room on arrival. It’s a very, very expensive stay but on balance I think it’s worth it for a special occasion experience.

Pros: Cosy communal spaces, Gorgeous decor, Red squirrels in the gardens and beavers nearby

Cons: Eye wateringly expensive,, Tricky to locate staff at the point you need them , Not particularly ‘eco’

We stayed one night and had a dinner/B&B arrangement. It was fabulous. We had a 5-course taster menu and I can honestly say it was fine dining. The hotel is very comfortable and quite quirky! The staff are very friendly and so helpful. What a treat. We will return, without a doubt.

Pros: Warm and welcoming. Very comfortable., Excellent food., Fantastic cocktails and wines.

First class vegan experience

A comfortable cosy stay in this beautifully restored old house. It was raining heavily outdoors but the roaring log fires in the sitting areas created a warm welcome. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was lovely with vegan friendly luxury toiletries. The food was the ⭐️. Everything tasted delicious and presentation beautiful. What a treat.

Delicious evening meal

I had been wanting to visit here for a while and enjoyed our two day stay. We were given a room upgrade on arrival which was unexpected and much appreciated. The evening meal on Sunday was more relaxed affair but food was still very tasty. The more formal menu on Monday however was fantastic.
Breakfast was also tasty but quite small portions, although I was still stuffed from dinner the night before!
The wine list is superb but pricy

Pros: Tasting menu was superb , Fantastic wine list , Very friendly staff

Cons: It’s quite pricy , Breakfast portions are small

Nice hotel, but please check your bill!

We enjoyed the fancy hotel, nice staff and of course the great food and cocktails. Our room was nice, although it was a bit small and there were no bathroom shelves to put our stuff on. The room was equipped with a water boiler, glasses, loose tea and ground coffee. In the corridor, there was a fridge they stock with plant milk and water. The ground floor had several facilities, like a restaurant and a bar/lounge area.

However, we were a bit surprised that there was no check-up in the room during our 2-nights stay. Also, our bill contained errors: they didn’t check properly whether it was correct (e.g. by letting us sign it off). On top of that, they never mentioned they charge a 15% tip by default on anything you order. They also made a mistake when correcting the bill, since the tip was calculated over a too high amount.

We also visited Sgarbh lodge in Isle of Skye, which was a completely different but also amazing experience. We recommend visiting them as well when in Scotland!

So so Saorsa disappointing!

Was really looking forward to staying here for my birthday over 3 nights. Welcoming enough but felt the atmosphere a little cold, a bit like the room temperatures in our bedroom & bathroom and some mornings at breakfast. Room felt like it was in another hotel, very basic, 7 hangers in a tiny wardrobe for two people would be ok if there was somewhere else to unpack for 3 days but there wasn’t. Bathroom hand soap was nearly empty on arrival & one toilet roll would be ok if they were checked each day but they clearly were not as our one tiny bin was never emptied. Also nowhere to put any toiletries or hang items in bathroom. Tiny breakfast portions in small glass jars, sometimes labelled but most were not. Fruit some days then not the next. Judging by other guests faces we were not the only ones thinking the same! We are not big eaters but even this was clearly not enough for most people. Poor choice which also never changed along with noisy annoying music all the time! Yes it’s great it’s all Vegan but we have eaten much better Vegan food at places that are only offering Vegan options and at a fraction of the cost and with more choice and bigger portions. This is not a review that I like to leave an all Vegan place but it clearly is not worth the money. One lunch we had there was ok! So it wasn’t all bad but sadly enough to not return.

Pros: It’s all Vegan, Great location

Cons: Tiny breakfast with few options, Very Expensive for what you get , Basic bedroom and bathroom

Thank you for your review.

The room you stayed in has a full-sized wardrobe, 2 bedside tables with drawers, and a suitcase fold-out table for unpacking. We would have happily provided more hangers if you had asked a friendly staff member. We ask guests to leave a sign on their door handle if they require rooms to be cleaned and restocked - otherwise, we will respect their privacy and not enter the room.

We apologise that you felt cold, but we like to think we are all friendly enough to approach regarding any problems or issues which are very easily resolved. It would have just been a case of turning the thermostat up.

We are glad that you liked the lunch you had during your stay, although it is a shame that you did not try dinner which is a completely different experience altogether.

Our breakfast is a help-yourself buffet with a daily choice of 2 hot options and endless artisan tea and coffee. You were able to help yourself to as much as you wanted, and we are sorry this wasn't made clear.

Vegan hotel and restaurant

Fully vegan hotel and restaurant. We visited for lunch. In the evenings they do a tasting menu but lunch is more ‘fancy vegan pub type meals’. The main course options were vegan fish and chips, burger, oyster mushroom wrap, and soup and a sandwich. Starters available too. We had the mushroom
Wrap and the fish and chips. Both were very nice and around £16 each which seems a little pricey for a lunch. Staff were lovely and our dog enjoyed some homemade vegan treats.

Pros: Dog friendly, Nice setting

Wonderful vegan hotel experience

A Hotel from A-Z vegan and dedicated to a cruelty free lifestyle was just amazing to experience.
We stayed for one night incl dinner and breakfast
Dinner was a 5 course menue of bread, a parsnip tower, grilled couchettes and quinoa and a chocolate covered pear. All ended with a vegan cheese platter. Menue changes due to seasonal availability of ingredients.
Al drinks are vegan.
Rooms have complimentary tea and coffee station with - of course - oat milk and water😄
Hotel is located in a beautifully old castle like building close to a forest. Very idyllic and worth every penny

Amazing food and service

We stayed her for two nights in August 23, and were treated to some of the best food we’ve eaten in the last 7 years. The young chef, Patrick, produces fine dining with some inspirational twists - ginger cake with truffle ice cream being an illustration of this! The welcome is warm, friendly and relaxed. The whole experience was such a treat. We can’t wait to go back again!

Pros: Great food, Warm welcome, Relaxed atmosphere

THE vegan hotel

What a great place to stay. Room was nice and food was unbelievable. The staff couldn't have been better. Very relaxing. It's so good to stay somewhere and not have to keep asking if food is vegan. Great choice of drinks. Every evening there was a different 5 courses. You think you can cook but turns out I've not got a clue:)

Pros: Food, Staff, Relaxing

Cons: Don't think about money.

Honeymoon Stay

We stayed here for our honeymoon last October and the food was absolutely incredible. We had dinner on two nights and we were amazed by the chefs creations. Each course was just a sensory journey and we loved hearing about each dish presented by the staff. We also tried the cheese board one evening and that was also amazing, we couldn’t believe how realistic they were - even the ‘blue cheese’ had the mold in it!

The breakfast buffet was also good with a nice selection available.

Pros: Incredible presentation, Attentive staff, Amazing flavours

Best vegan hotel and fine dining experience I've ever had

The 5 course tasting menu, which we had over the space of 3 days, was phenomenal. There wasn't a single dish that didn't absolutely astound me, even the ones I was initially unsure about upon reading them (e.g. I THOUGHT I hated wasabi, beets etc. but the dishes that included these blew me away). The chef even took the time to answer some questions and share a bit about her journey. This was a recurring theme, the staff were passionate and so incredibly accommodating.

The breakfast was the perfect start to the day too, with a choice of breads and spreads, freshly made smoothies and granola pots, fresh fruit and also chili beans/the best tofu scramble I've ever had. I also highly recommend at least getting some of the cocktails, but do book onto a cocktail masterclass if you can - Lucy fine tuned the experience to our preferences and was such an entertaining host.

Do not hesitate to visit Saorsa.

Shout out to Lucy, Sandra, Leo, Fadi for their exceptional customer service during our stay.

Such a joy!

We completely fell in love with the staff, the gorgeous house, the beautiful garden, the interiors, and, of course, the food 🥰! Vegan cuisine on such a high level is hard to come by, and then add in Scotland breathtaking beauty❣️you can’t beat the combination! There’s 11 rooms, each differently decorated, each lovely! Saorsa is also super dog friendly which adds the plus of getting to pet all the furry friends traveling with their vegan humans 😍. They’re environmentally friendly down to the toilet paper, they’re super casual (so some will dress up for dinner, some will come in hiking gear, it’s all good). I could go on, but you get the picture! I am sorry to be limited to 5 stars!

Pros: Vegan through and through , Lovely staff, Amazing food - what! I can only name 3????

Cons: Nope, Nope, Nope
