Amazing, but comes with a price - Edit
Lovely hotel, lovely place. Very friendly staff. But this comes at a price. We stayed two nights and had two 5 course meals. Don't show up hungry so you can enjoy the food.

A unique and pricey experience. - Edit
We visited in July 2025. Saorsa is an interesting place - set in the beautiful town of Pitlockry, and one of the first 100% vegan hotels. We stayed for 1 night only and had the 5 course dinner, as well as breakfast the next morning.
Read moreRoom/Hotel: we had a lovely room with a good sized bed and a well equipped bathroom (even though the sink is a little odd - almost straight!). We were woken several times in the night due to a baby crying - the walls are quite thin so it wasn't a completely restful night. The grounds are nice to walk round, and there's lot of spots to sit, great if you're looking to take a book and sit outside. Plenty of parking too. No fridge but there is a communal one outside - this also has water bottles (which had ran out on a couple of occasions).
Dinner: it was our first experience with a vegan tasting menu - and Saorsa were able to accommodate my partner's GF diet which was appreciated. It was nice to not have to have a range of dishes and not have to choose anything! We felt overall it was tasty, and very well presented food, but was over priced - it's mainly centred around vegetables and the portions are small (even as a collective amount) - and we didn't feel the overall experience was reflective of the price. We were also sat right in the middle of the dining room -
Breakfast: we ordered pancakes which were lovely and there were some further options of toasts/spreads/juices, etc. We weren't a fan of the chai pudding but this is probably personal preference (and the coconut yoghurt tasted a little bit off!) but overall a decent meal.
Staff were all super friendly and accommodating. We did have an issue with late checkout - as we requested this and had to speak with staff 3 times about as they were a bit unsure on the procedure - they weren't able to confirm the price either so only found out on check out - I'm sure this can be easily resolved by having a clear process for late check out - especially when being charged (I think it was £25 for 1 hour - which was also a bit much).
So overall, a pleasant trip for sure but a few issues above - the main one was feeling the overall trip was overpriced but also was very pleasing to see a fully vegan hotel.

Overpriced - Edit
We had the five course tasting menu last week. The portions are very mean, you will still be hungry when you leave.
Read moreThe service is appallingly bad, we had to ask for forks and initially menus.
We were told we were having the three course menu, no idea why ? We booked to have the five course, it seems personal choice is frowned on in this place.
I found the waitress to be quite rude and if the service charge had not already been added without our knowledge, we would not have left a tip.
If you want wine by the glass, there is no option, apart from house red or house white at £9 for a small glass.
The red was like someone’s,lucid pink home brew, I told the waitress that I could not drink it, she brought me the white, also dreadful, sweet and cloying but I managed to drink it.
I was still charged for the red wine that she took away!
This is not fine dining, the food is good, but everything else is just awful.
Pros: The food
Cons: The service, The cost, The dirty old dining room and shabby toilets.

Vegan dream in Pitlochry - Edit
If you're a vegan and you've never stayed in a vegan hotel... What are you waiting for?!? It was an amazing experience for us in June 2024. We loved the beautifully prepared seasonal food, the breakfast buffet where we could eat *everything*, the gorgeous old house it's in, and the lush surroundings. The room was simple, comfy and welcoming, and the service was kind and helpful. I even picked up an apron as a souvenir, which I use almost every day! It's lovely quality.

It's ok... - Edit
We went for a family celebration with the 5 course tasting menu.
Read morePortions are very small, which is to be expected with a tasting menu, but we left really quite hungry. No wine paired with courses. Add on drinks and its VERY EXPENSIVE.
Each course was tasty and interesting to try, but not much knowledge from the servers and disappointed more parts weren't locally sourced.
In a small dining room of 3 tables, and one table had a dog - my partner is allergic so we had to run for antihistamines. Did not expect dogs in the dining room when paying SO MUCH.
Decor is meant to be eclectic shabby chic, but it's just a bit dark and strange - with jungle creatures thrown in.
I really want to like Saorsa, but it's just meh...
Pros: Fully vegan, Tasty food
Cons: Portion size and cost, Dogs in the dining room, Decor and vibe

Wonderful stay and food - Edit
We stayed for one night and loved it. We liked the place and food as everything was quite special there. Very friendly stuff, dog-friendly place to be with their own private little park for dog walks and places to relax. But be careful while booking your stay- if you want to go there for an overnight stay with a dinner: the kitchen is closed monday&tuesday. We have met a couple who came for the 3 course menue and were also able to book it with there overnight-stay on a monday but found out shortly before arriving that the dinner isn't possible at that day, only snacks. Same happend to us but as we stayed two more nights close by we could switch to another day. When only booking a table, it is clearly not possible for those days, but for an overnight stay it is, so that's why I mention it. Shouldn't be possible to make the booking for a menue on days they don't offer it. Especially in all-vegan hotels people often come more or less because of the food.

An absolute *dream* - Edit
I don’t even know how to write this review because I am obsessed with everything about Saorsa 1875 and I’m not over any of it yet. We had a beautiful stay here and the food is phenomenal. One of the best meals I’ve ever had, easily. Incredible 5 course meal, incredible service, incredible drinks. I also have to shout out the breakfast they offer, you can choose a starter and a main and it’s so freaking good. Everything was beautiful, the food, the entire hotel, the grounds, the fact that they allow dogs to stay, I loved it all. If you are considering a dinner reso or a hotel reso here just do it. You will be so lucky to experience it! I truly hope to be back someday!!

Great stay! - Edit
We had a fantastic two nights at Soarsa 1875, an amazing experience visiting an entirely vegan hotel and not have to worry about whether your toast will be dry in the morning.
Read moreWe had two different tasting menus on the evening with a variety of ambitious dishes which focussed on seasonal produce. Wine list was excellent with some great niche selections highlighting natural wines.
Breakfast offered things like porridge, granola, chia pudding, pancakes, avocado toast and scrambled tofu. Without a doubt the best breakfast selection I’ve had in any hotel.
We thought it was reasonably priced and the local area offered a lot to see if you like hiking and whisky (although there’s probably plenty more, too).
Staff were lovely and very helpful, and so were all the other guests which helps!
Only minor downside was that both mornings our coffees milk was oversteamed and burnt, but for us it didn’t detract from the overall experience.
We hope to visit again one day!
Pros: Tasting Menu, Breakfast, Lovely Room
Cons: Coffee

vegan paradise - Edit
I stayed there for 4 nights, dinned with them twice and it was all wonderful. The staff is very friendly and attentive and the place is beautiful. It was not just the obvious advantages of being in an all vegan hotel/ restaurant e.g. not having the think or ask about ingredients all the time. The food is incredible, both at breakfast and especially at dinner. The dinner menu changes daily.

Wonderful food! - Edit
We stayed here for three nights and the food was amazing. Daily breakfast that had amazing sourdough, jam, butter, teas, pancakes, granola, and more! We had their vegan charcuterie as a snack one day - 5 delicious cheeses. The five course dinner every night was excellent. All the dishes starred a veggie and the creativity of the chef with the food was incredible! Definitely recommend this both as a place to eat and to stay.

Vegan heaven - Edit
We stayed at the hotel for two nights - the highlight of our trip from Australia. It was fantastic to not have to worry about down pillows or leather furniture in the hotel. It’s a beautiful place and the decor is quirky and stylish. We had breakfast and dinner both days and highly recommend. It is expensive, it is a tasting-type of menu (breakfast is more buffet plus a couple of hot choices). But the food is exquisite. Modern, inventive, perfectly seasoned. The bar is a delight to sit in and enjoy a cocktail in front of the fire.

Perfection - Edit
Stayed at the hotel for one night (regretting not having at least another)! The place is incredibly stylish, with a cute cosy bar to one side and the restaurant to the other. The rooms are located up the elegant staircase; in the landing, there’s a small fridge with mini bottles of oat milk for in-room tea & coffee. Dinner was stunning - we had the a la carte tapas menu as the tasting menu wasn’t served on the day we stayed. But it was no problem, as literally every dish we had was amazing. They encourage sharing, with the smaller plates coming together as a stater, followed by larger plates. My favourites were the fried kimchi and the barley risotto - the wild herb pesto was divine. We got two desserts - the tiramisu and the matcha puff pastry. Both were utterly fabulous. We shared a bottle of orange wine from Nottingham, of all places! Breakfast was equally great, with juices, smoothies, cereals, oatly yoghurt with toppings, toast etc and you can order hot plates from the kitchen - I had some beans on toast; the beans were a mixture of different types and it had a nice chili kick. Overall it was an utterly fabulous stay and we’re planning on a longer visit next time!

Absolutely lovely. - Edit
Did not book a table as we were unsure what time we would arrive into Pitlochry. They were able to accept us at 1pm when they opened as there was no one else there. I do not believe this to be the case very often as I had looked to book other days and times were limited. I think I just got lucky.
Read moreThe service was really great. The gentleman that looked after us was extremely friendly and helpful. We chatted with him about our travels so far and he was able to provide some helpful advice. Many thanks to him.
The food itself was all incredible. We ordered all the small plates minus the watermelon dish and ordered the pasta and mushroom dishes from the large plate menu. We also ordered the tiramisu. Absolutely delicious.
I don't believe I could afford to come too often but it was a lovely meal and for something special, I would love to visit again. We did not stay in the rooms but hopefully one day. We did walk around the grounds and it was beautiful. With the leaves changing, it was magical.
There were also two dogs on site and they were lovely. 10/10 would recommend.

Vegan hotel and restaurant 💚 - Edit
This is amazing place - first UK 100% plant based hotel and restaurant. Very cosy rooms and decorations in whole hotel. The food was pretty fushion but tasty. They also use vegan and cruelty free cosmetics. In the morning there is a breakfast - toasts, cereals, yoghurt, fruits - everything vegan. Very friendly and helpful staff 💚 we had really nice stay there!

We stayed at Saorsa 1865 for two nights and were delighted by the food. The menu doesn't give much away so we weren't sure what to expect. The food that arrived was all absolutely delicious and really imaginative, there was nothing boring or bog standard. The breakfast was lovely, really wholesome and generous. The staff were super friendly and it's clear this is a real passion for those working there. We would recommend Saorsa to anyone plant based, vegan, or interested in high quality food.

We stayed for 2 days in a deluxe room. This was very nice and spacious.

Great location a few mins walk from town, beautiful Victorian villa house, with interesting quirks.

Great food! - Edit
We where there for dinner and had a few different dishes. Everything tasted delicious but don't go there when you are really hungry 😅 It's rather expensive and the dishes are small but for 1 evening it's ok. But what's really not nice is that it's very cold and not comfy. I sat there with my jacket and was cold anyway. That's a pity because the interieur is beautiful.

Too posh to have biscuits in the room - Edit
Really disappointed by this venue and the food. Dishes were missing listed elements. Many were unpleasantly tepid leaving me unsure if they were incorrectly heated or meant to be that way.
Read moreMy cauliflower mousse was a cold puree. My deconstructed brownie was a brownie mashed with a fork.
There was the odd really good dish. The celeriac was great, the lions mane cooked brilliantly. The tasting menu which I had on the second night was overall reasonable.
The room is beautiful with uncomfortable seats.
The manager was unpleasant when I raised being overcharged over £80. After 15 minutes of trying to check out it still wasn't resolved. She later emailed to say I hadn't been overcharged, I had paid the correct amount. Well I had eventually, but only because I had asked for the invoice and a price breakdown to be emailed to me. Suddenly then the overcharging disappeared from the bill.
I don't share other people's views that this is an amazing place. I won't be going back.
Pros: Nice decor, Some food was lovely, Some staff skillful
Cons: Overcharged over £80 , Manager unhelpful, Old dregs of milk for drinks

We stayed for 2 nights and also ate lunch and dinner in the restaurant.
Read moreBreakfast: hot food options were porridge, scrambled tofu and beans and there was a selection of cold items in the buffet. All very healthy and I particularly enjoyed the the berries and nuts to top my porridge.

Dinner: the 5 course tasting menu was excellent. Each course was well thought out and looked beautiful. The poached pear salad with granola was the most surprising combo but was very good.
