Really tasty vegan food and lovely staff - Edit
What a relief - finally someone in Turkey not only not challenges, but also fully understands it you don’t eat meat or dairy. And the food is simply amazing - we shared the Meze platter and then the ’veganized’ veggie Pide. Both so delicious! 100% recommended!

Very accommodating for vegans - Edit
Update: We went back 3 years later (2025) and it was still great! Again, they were knowledgeable about vegan options and the food was delicious! We actually had it twice on our trip, once in the restaurant and then we also had it delivered. They offer free delivery within Kalkan and you just need to WhatsApp their number ( 90 507 418 06 92 or see my photo for other numbers) and they’ll send you the menu and arrange delivery! When the food arrived our bread was clearly labelled vegan and all the hot dishes were still hot! It was also all delicious once again. I would definitely recommend this as my favourite in Kalkan as the food is delicious and they understand what vegan means whereas a lot of other places in the area get confused.

The waiter was very friendly and when we explained we were vegan he was very happy to help with explaining what was and wasn't vegan. For starters we ordered humus with chips. We originally tried to ordered humus with lentil meatballs, but after informing us that they weren't serving the cold starters (it was in the off-season so it's understandable) he went to check with the chef and told us they were going to make us a fresh batch of humus anyway! When the starters arrived he also brought us an extra separate bowl of vegan pitta (we were out with meat eaters and they were served non-vegan bread) and was very conscientious about telling us what was and wasn't vegan. It was really awesome to be made to feel so accepted and accommodated for. For the mains we went for the vegetarian spaghetti (which is also vegan). All the food was absolutely delicious! The humus was sublime, the chips were lovely and soft and crispy, the bread was tasty and the spaghetti was also just amazing. It was also great value (the spaghetti was 96 lira - £4.90 at the time of our visit). To top it off the waiter offered us teas and coffees on the house and then brought out Turkish Delight with a separate vegan dish for us! I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner here and would definitely recommend Rose to any vegans visiting Kalkan, they made us feel very at home and the food was delicious!

Read moreThe menu doesn't have vegan items labelled but the staff are very knowledgeable and are happy to make suggestions (removing garlic butter, cheese etc.) Without any prompting (they understand what Vegan means, unlike many restaurants in Kalkan!) So I felt really comfortable eating here.
The food was fresh, delicious, beautifully presented and the staff were so helpful

This is not fully veggie or vegan hence the four star rating but we love the vegan food they offer. We came last year and really looked forward to visiting again - we had great food on both occasions. The man who runs the restaurant is very aware of and respectful of vegan requirements and made lots of suggestions for tweaks that could be made to veganise dishes. Everything is made fresh to order so for example you can have the lavaş bread made without the egg wash. Lots of delicious mezze options and the pide and gözleme are both delicious.

One of the few restaurants in Kalkan that have an understanding of vegan. Many restaurants have a vegetarian menu but every dish includes cheese, butter, or cream and staff don’t understand what vegan means. Staff at Rose knew exactly what vegan meant and made sure we had a lovely dinner. We had vegan bread with hummus, cig kofte (delicious!), spinach&potato gozleme with oil, and vegan casserole.

Delicious vegan food - Edit
Really good restaurant we visited twice on holiday. The owner Yunis is very knowledgeable about vegan food and offered to adapt several dishes for me. So friendly and nothing to much trouble. The owner’s father bakes bread on the premises and made me fresh pitta (no dairy) to have with my hummus. They bring you fresh dips and pide as an appetiser, also helpfully pointing out which are vegan friendly.
Read moreI had the vegetable casserole for main which was delicious. Really nice to eat somewhere where you don’t feel like you are being a nuisance vegan lol! So friendly and helpful. Would definitely return if we visit Kalkan again. Reasonable prices too.
