3.5 - Delicious food on the waterfront - Edit
Update: Came back 3 years later and the food is still delicious! Our waiter was very helpful and seemed to clearly understand what foods were vegan and what options on their menu could be veganised or not. Unfortunately there was a moment where he brought out a big tray of whole dead fish to offer to the non-vegans in our group. It caught me completely off-guard and I felt it was a bit insensitive. Aside from that he was great and Trio now have a Vegetarian & Vegan menu section which makes things much easier.
Read moreOriginal: Trio is part of a string of restaurants along the coast near Kalkan beach, and as such the views from the restaurant are really beautiful. The decor and ambience are also really lovely, and the staff are very attentive and welcoming. Vegan options aren't labelled on the menu but there are a variety of options that are vegan and others that can be veganised. The staff are attentive and aware of many of the vegan dishes, and happy to check with the chefs for any dishes where there is any uncertainty. For starters we went for the saksukha (fried diced aubergine) and houmous. The idea was that we were going to dip the saksukha in the houmous but I think we got confused because the saksukha was not solid and was a dip itself! When we realised we ordered some chips to dip instead. They also gave us complementary carrots and cucumbers, which was a really nice touch. The chips were lovely and crispy and as always with the restaurants I've been to in Turkey, the houmous was just delicious. The saksukha was also really tasty. For our mains we got the stuffed aubergine (oven baked and stuffed with lentils and vegetables, and served with boulger rice). It was amazing!! It was absolutely delicious and I would throughly recommend it! Our whole experience at Trio was a lot of fun, the staff were really friendly and attentive and the food is delicious, definitely worth a visit!

I gave 3.5 (although I had to officially give it 3 as 3.5 isn’t a thing on HappyCow), would’ve given 4 (the max for non vegan listings) if they’d had more vegan options and clear menu labelling!
