Vegan food at a nice place - Edit
They offer only one dish (at least when we were there) and it was the vegan curry. The curry was delicious. They also have vegan sweets (cakes).

Very nice - Edit
Had a bowl of udon which was very simple but still tasty. The owner ran out of tofu, so it was just noodles in broth with chinese chives, but at an excellently cheap price of 700 yen for a big bowl. The owner was incredibly nice, really taking time for us. She also brought us mandarin slices.

Pleasantly surprised - Edit
We saw the 'vegan snack' sign on our way to Daishoin and tried the udon. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. We also got some green tea with amanatto (sugar-coated beans) which is a recipe from the 1860s :). The whole meal was very traditionally Japanese. We much appreciate a restricted menu that considers the season and uses local ingredients in a traditional dish (instead of modern vegan alternatives to popular dishes) so this was a huge plus.

Lovely cafe - Edit
I came to this lovely cafe soon after the beginning of the new year, so the only vegan option that was available was a sesame rice ball. This was still delicious, however, and I also enjoyed the soy matcha latte.

We went there in search for vegan food and found this cute little place. While they were out of veg curry, we enjoyed the rice balls. It was one of the best rice balls we've ever had. Rhe place and the owner was very cute. It has a very aesthetic vibe. I would recommend reaching early to try the veg curry that we read amazing things about it.

Wir hatten den veganen Pudding und eine heiße Zitrone und haben es sehr genossen. Die Besitzerin ist supernett und hat uns noch ein paar vegane Kekse gereicht. Vielen Dank!

A lovely stop in Daishoin temple - Edit
Great lunch stop at the Daishoin temple. The lady is so friendly and welcoming. Asked my where I am from and even brought a map to add my name in. Very chatty and kind.
Read moreFoodwise they currently have a vegan curry with almonds and cashew which was really wonderful and a porridge which I haven't tried. Seemed an all-vegan place. A bit expensive (1800 for the curry, yet very wholesome and filling), but for this location seemed reasonable.

Peaceful cafe with a tasty curry - Edit
A beautiful cafe that offers a vegan curry. When we visited it was a tomato, soy mince and ginger-based one that was delicious. Also ordered a matcha latte which can be made vegan with soy milk. The lady who runs the cafe is friendly and welcoming.

Lovely stop to cool down - Edit
We stopped here for drinks and lunch. There wasn't a large menu and they clearly were focused on flavoured shaved ice (we didn't have it but it looked awesome). We had cold noodles, which were tasty and filling. It's in a lovely traditional house and we were lucky as there wasn't a queue when we arrived. The owner was really lovely if not slightly forgetful when the cafe was busy but we got everyone ordered and a chance to cool down from the heat. I would recommend.

Incredible food and incredible people - Edit
I had vegan noodles, which were delicious, but what makes this cafe the best I've ever been to is the couple who run it! They were asking where I'm from, giving travel tips and at the end of meal I got to stick a post it on a world map to show where I was from. They were so incredibly friendly and even gave me vegan cookies and a postcard as a thank you for coming!! Definitely a must visit

We had two portions of vegan noodles which were cold (which was refreshing with the heat) in a soya milk broth, one macha latte (also cold) and 1 slice of lemon cake. All were very tasty although the cake was a little dry. The bill came to 5600 yen.

In Google maps it’s named Rokaku Tea Hause, it is located next to stairs that lead up to the Daishoin temple (not accessible from the street above, only from the entrance of the temple).
