Amazing food and owner! - Edit
After a hot day of hiking down from the summit to Daishoin temple, this cafe offered the perfect meal - cold soba noodles with vegan dashi sauce, the meal was simple but very delicious. The owner was so lovely and chatted with us for a while, highly recommend!

Lovely place - Edit
Located close to a shrine, this place almost feels mystical: at one point there was a deer grazing outside the tea house. This was the first time I had cold noodles and was pleasantly surprised by the simple yet delicious taste. They seem to have a daily menu for lunch and a fixed menu for drinks. They also customised my latte with soy milk.

Wonderful atmosphere! - Edit
This was a perfect stop after a hot day of exploring Miyajima. Only one food item on the menu - cold soba noodles in an ice bath with a side of dashi sauce (made from kelp) for dipping - delicious! We tried visiting this cafe (at the base of the Daishon Temple) on our first day on the island but it was closed due to the holiday one day prior so check before venturing out.

Amazing summer food - Edit
The cold noodles I had were amazing for the hot, humid Japanese summers. Furthermore the location and atmosphere are really nice, it just far enough away from shrine to not be hard to reach while still not being very touristy

Super cute little cafe right by the temple - Edit
I discovered this lovely little place because they had a sign outside advertising vegan somen! It was exactly what I needed on a hot day- a bowl of refreshingly cold and chewy noodles with vegan dashi and spring onion. They do the one main dish (this time, somen) and a few desserts and drinks- tea, coffee, matcha etc. Very simple and enjoyable. The host was super lovely and was really interested in learning where people were from. She had many requests for vegan food so they changed to vegan 3 months ago. The cafe itself is in a small wooden building, with wooden benches and tables- lovely and quiet. The host even had to go outside to shop a deer out of the garden while I was there! 😂 Really great, welcoming experience.

A great place to have lunch in beautiful surroundings! The vegan curry and lemonade are delicious. Perfect for a day with high temperatures. The owner is so friendly and enthousiastic! We talked about our vegan experiences in Japan and her tea room and she even gave us a little present. I'll definitely recommend this place!

A must visit! - Edit
Simple menu offering a vegan dish, drinks, and sweets. On the day we went, they were offering a vegan curry which was so delicious. We also ordered the lemonade and matcha latte (made with soy milk) which we really liked. The two curries and the two drinks cost us 4500 Yen. Owners are super friendly. It is located next to stairs that lead up to a temple. I highly recommend visiting this cafe if you are looking for vegan food on Miyajima.

finest hospitality, delightful food & cafe space - Edit
We had the most unexpectedly delightful experience at Rokaku cafe. We came just after 5pm, later than planned. (They close at 5pm so we didn’t expect to be able to order anything.) Unfortunately they were out of curry. However, the incredibly kind and generous owner took pity on two vegans seeking food and went back to the kitchen to whip up some soba noodles and miso soup for us. Yum!! She also surprised us with the silken tofu with strawberry sauce dessert. We were so grateful and truly blessed by her kindness and hospitality. And the food was so nourishing on a cool rainy evening.
Read moreThe cafe is cozy and adorable and such a sweet oasis (right inside the temple gate). I’d want to stay all day if I could! We almost missed it at fist because we entered the temple from above initially. Had we come earlier we would have loved to enjoy matcha and other treats, including her vegan curry.
This is a must-visit spot to visit while on the island, whether for tea or for some warm food. You’ll be greeted with the most welcoming hospitality, you’ll want to return again and again!
Pros: Generous hospitality , Delicious food, Cozy & beautiful space

Local acogedor, lejos del bullicio de los turistas y servicio estupendo. La señora que lo lleva es muy maja y aunque no habla inglés se hace entender e incluso da conversación. Pedimos un matcha con leche de soja y un café, muy buenos.
