Amazing vegan menu - Edit
This place has an extensive vegan menu of starters, pasta/pizza/mains, and desserts - they also label their vegan wine. It was really difficult to decide what to order, there was so much choice! We had arancini to start, which were very good indeed. My partner got a seitan and buccatini dish which he loved, though I was a little underwhelmed by my 4 cheese gnocchi (not as cheesy as I was hoping for). The desserts were incredible - he tried the vegan tiramisu, and I had the little dumplings with vegan nutella, which was definitely the right size for sharing- it was a huge portion! Service was great, and we were very satisfied customers.

Such an amazing variety of food to choose from. We were spoilt for choice so we had to have both pizza and pasta to share. Not often you get a vegan carbonara either! 10/10

I piatti tipici romani del tutto vegetali e i prezzi normali.

Degna di nota anche la carbonara.

A gem - Edit
Great range of tasty and well presented vegan food and very convenient for the main railway station. Quite small, so sensible to make a reservation to avoid disappointment. Staff were helpful and friendly. We visited twice during our short stay in Rome and would certainly visit again if we return.

Lovely birthday meal - Edit
Arancino and ‘nduja bruschetta to start, amatriciana for main. Reasonable prices and portions, the “guanciale” in the amatriciana was superb, Campari spritz nice and strong!

Nice vegan Restaurant in Rome - Edit
We had the arancino, the bruscetta, the Pizza autumna and the Pasta cacio e pepe. The bruscetta and the pizza were incredible, the arancino was also really good and the pasta good but not overwhelming. The staff is so so friendly and the coffee is really good.

Tradizione romana in salsa vegana - Edit

Okay but not the best - Edit
We had a lasagna and calzone. Calzone was good but the lasagna was a bit small. Would not make me full at all. We also had a Arancino as a starter which did not blow my mind (but I have no comparison). We also had a chocolate dessert and a creamy one which was good but also very sweet.

Era meglio prima - Edit
È stato deludente tornare in quello che era il miglior ristorante vegano e trovarlo così cambiato, mi è sembrato la materia prima non fosse più la stessa?!

Great starters, okay first dishes - Edit
I had the bruschetta with porcini and gorgonzola and olive ascolane. In the first, the cheese at times tasted like actual gorgonzola! The second has everything I used to like about that dish. So, amazing starters overall. But then I had carbonara and some of the seitan was chewy, which was a pity because if it had been way crunchier overall it'd have added a lot to the dish.

The food is definitely innovative, but a little lacking in taste - Edit
I enjoyed the variety of food they had, specially vegan seafood which you don’t see often. It was a bit too salty though.

after trying few restaurants with a tag "vegan options" and they looked at us as we were crazy, we walked here. it was not our first option so we didnt have a reservation, BUT they had one free table inside and let us in. we ordered carbonara pasta and margherita pizza and pistaccio cannoli. the carbonara was really filling and salty and really has the taste of eggs, margherita pizza was nice and OH MY GOD THE CANNOLI is to die for. also nice music and atmosphere (the lights are nicely dim), it's small inside, cozy even. since we are staying in rome for few more days i'm gonna definitely return, because it is the closest vegan option to our apartment and need to try more desserts🍮

Ok but not the best - Edit
The place is quite small, we had booked a table and were seated right in front of the door which was being opened every 10 seconds so we asked to change table...
Read moreThe place is very small and very crowded so it feels quite cahotic and loud... Not a place where you would stay longer after your food and chat..
Wr tried the pizza "Bomba" and it was good, even though some of the crispy seitan was a bit chewy.
The supplì was very good!
The cacio e pepe pasta was disappointing as it was quite dry and tasted a bit like pasta with philadelphia cheese🥲
The cannolo with pistachio was good

More like a Monopoly Romano - Edit
I think the lack of real competition around has made this restaurant more popular than it should be... Reservation is pretty much mandatory at dinner and you might still have to sit outside anyway.
Read moreThe menu is only qr which is a bit annoying but fine. It does have pictures, but they're pretty misleading in my experience. I attached the pictures of my dishes for reference.
For starter, I had the bruschetta with pumpkin which was okay, although the bacon and the pumpkin didn't work together, there was not enough pumpkin and it was not even baked like it shows on the menu.
For the main dish I had the mushroom and chestnut risotto. Now that one disappointed me. I had chosen this one specifically because of the chestnuts, it's what made this dish shine on the menu over mostly ordinary pastas. There were hardly any chestnuts. They were brutally chopped and maybe re-roasted/fried? They looked sad and I didn't feel them at all. The whole point of the combination between mushrooms and large chestnuts is their similarity in apparence but not in taste and texture. They complement each other perfectly. They make dishes interesting. Here, chestnuts was used like a decoration or a condiment. Or maybe as a menu bait... Even the amount of mushrooms was much less than the menu picture.
The mozzarella cheese was meh. Too sweet for some reason. The cream was not really salty, so I expected the cheese to give it a salty contrast but it didn't. Only the rosemary oil was great. Otherwise it was just a very plain risotto, cooked well, but still not worth 14eur.
The menu itself feels too simple for the prices. The pastas are mostly cream&mushrooms or tomatoes without any surprise. I also had a pizza here a few months ago and it was also just OK. Maybe the seconds are the way to go here? Idk. It's super famous and I wasn't convinced.

Rifugio Romano (a vegan tourist trap) - Edit
We had high expectations for this restaurant given all the positive reviews, but the reality is the food was OK and the service was not great. The artichoke was the best part of our meal. The service was odd most of our time there, for example, we were seated then asked to sit somewhere else after we ordered. One employee was abrasive when we asked about an ingredient. Another employee brought us our food when they were holding a phone up to their head talking. And the most annoying thing is (as they heard our American accents) they had the audacity to ask and pressure us for tips when this is not common in Europe AND we received poor service. I really don’t like when people try to take advantage of Americans tipping in Europe, I know better after living in Europe so long at this point, but it’s frustrating to know they are doing this to people. I didn’t hear them ask or pressure any of the Europeans for tips when they were paying. Anyway, I dropped my rating because of this and the poor service.
