Good but too much Beyond meat - Edit
We enjoyed our meal here. The house-made tortelloni was delicious and my favorite thing we ate that night. I felt like too much of the menu had Beyond meat, which narrowed my choices quite a bit. Pizza crust was ok not great - I’d stick with pasta if I went again. We also had a good chocolate hazelnut dessert (Rocher).

The Rome vegan tour continued.... - Edit
Happy to have found another restaurant where we could eat vegan in confidence. Had the pasta with cheese, pepper and pears on the recommendation of our waitress. Was sceptical to begin with but prepared to try something new. Was pleased with the outcome as the included pear puree added a sweet profile to the dish that really added something special. Must also add that that our service was great and have to call out Camilla who looked after us very well.

Overall good, could be better - Edit
Everything is vegan on the menu so the vegan options are almost endless. Reservation required so plan ahead. The dishes are delicious and the they’re filling portions. We ordered a charcuterie board and it was easily the best thing we tried. A little on the pricey side but expected prices from Rome. The tables were too close to one another.

unfortunately average - Edit
We were so excited to try this place as it had great reviews, let me start by saying it wasn’t bad! Just extremely underwhelming.
Read moreFor drinks I ordered a mojito which was undrinkable, way too strong and the mint was brown. We ordered the antipasto to start. The dough balls and sauce were delicious. The tofu was bland and the aranchini were fine, nothing special.
For mains we got the carbonara and the cannelloni. The carbonara was yummy but a little bland. Needed more “cheese”. The bacon bits were rock hard. The cannelloni was okay, but the filling needed something else- it was just “meat”. Should have been a ricotta and spinach type filling or at least an additional flavour. It was also bland.
The tiramisu was okay, but the cream was more like a thick custard than a whipped cream. The pizzas on other tables looked great so maybe we just ordered the wrong things.

Rifugio = Vegan Refuge - Edit
Our most excellent vegan tour (vegjourneysandjaunts) started our Italian adventure with dinner at this place. As a group we had a fixed price menu - which was PLENTY of food, all of which was excellent. The antipasto plates were amazing; vegan brie and pepperoni, “fish” balls with tartar sauce, sliced “lunch meat” all made there and all very high quality. I had the saltimboca, which reminded me very much of that classic Roman dish I’d had so often when a student here (pre-veganism). The vegan tiramisu was…tiramisu! A true refuge and a must-visit if you’re vegan in Rome.

In più i suoi aperol spriz so na bomba!

Calzone - Edit
It's great to have a traditional Italian which is all vegan.
Read moreLots of variety on the menu. I tried the calzone campagnolo and the insalata seiten and thoroughly enjoyed both. The portions were large, and the food that I ordered was delicious.
There aren't many tables, so you do need to book, and it felt a bit bustling/hectic (not a relaxed restaurant atmosphere).
It is not far from the main station so, whilst not in the tourist areas, it is quite central.
Pros: Veganised Italian classics , Good calzone , Handy for station
Cons: Hectic

Very disappointing - Edit
Was looking forward to this meal and had booked weeks in advance. The area isn’t the best, but we still had high hopes. I’m sorry, but the food was very disappointing. We had the fig bruschetta which was covered in an unpleasant creamy fake cheese. The staff seemed very unenthusiastic and would shove plates of food down without a word. Didn’t seem like a nice atmosphere for them to work in. No smiles, no pleasantries throughout. The vegan carbonara smelt and tasted of black salt (so eggy!!) which is not the main taste you want from this dish. It was also drowning in far too much sauce. My cannelloni was so overcooked with soggy pasta and unpleasant thick floury mozzarella sauce all over.
Read moreWe felt on edge and unwelcome, opting to not get a dessert and leave. The bill had extra things added which we did not order. Overall- this place is very overrated. The place has potential but has far too many fake flavourings. We hope they can improve and wish them well.
Pros: Nice frosted beer glass
Cons: Unwelcoming atmosphere, Fake flavours, very rich and unappetising

Great Italian Food - all vegan! - Edit
I ordered a couple of appetisers and a small plate, and I was so full! It’s definitely worth a visit - the flavours were so good!
Read moreOne thing, though - I asked the waiter if the wine was also vegan and they said “yes, they’re all bio” I explained that bio doesn’t always mean vegan, and they said something strange and unrelated about how bio means that the wine isn’t as strong and therefore vegan (?!). Haha so two of the wines on the menu specifically said vegan, so I just chose one of them. It was the Chianti. Reeeeally good!
It’s actually amazing how many vegan restaurants serve non-vegan wine and alcohols.
But I digress! It’s very good and you should definitely go 😅

Food was great. Arancini were very delicious, also the Canelloni. Didn't like the Tiramisu (tasted as if they use kurkuma). But rest was a 10 out of 10.

Personale davvero gentile, solare e disponibile.

Traditional Roman recipes turned vegan - Edit
As an Italian I’ve been waiting for years to try something vegan that reminds me of the flavours of the original non vegan recipes. This place did not disappoint, and it’s very affordable. Carbonara and cacio e pepe are a must to try!
