Torneremo sicuramente nelle nostre prossime Vacanze Romane😍

Il miglior cibo vegano che io abbia mai mangiato - Edit
Personale super accogliente, simpatico e disponibile.

Good but not Best - Edit
We reserved for a sunday table during a trip.
Read moreAs starter we chose mixed plate for 2 people and it was good: Hummus with Raw Veggies, Suppli&Arancino, Marinated Tofu, Fried Pizza Dumpling, Mayo. Then pasta; Spaghetti alla Carbonara (with Crispy vegan bacon, Black Pepper and Vegan Cheese on Top) Tonnarelli Cacio & Pepe (with homemade cream cheese, vegan pecorino cheese and black pepper (allergens: gluten, nuts, celery, mustard): in my special not so special as expected. Then we tried Protein crepes with spinach and vegan stracchino 3D printed vegetable meat and roasted potatoes: same like before. Instead dessert was superb, we loved Vegan Tiramisu. Hope to come back soon and change my rate.

Rifugio Romano ristorante pizzeria
Read moreReservation only dining.
Great and reasonably quick service.
Nice dining atmosphere.
Celebrates birthdays.
Price: awesome
Order review:
Potato croquettes stuffed with mozzarella
(Simply good)
Bruschettone with Gorgonzola pumpkin and bacon
(Really nice appetizer)
_________
1st course:
-Ravioli with Gorgonzola and walnuts on carrot cream
(Not really worth 14 dollars to us, had a hard part/piece in one)
_________
2nd course:
-Cordon blue of seitan stuffed with barb chips
(Looks realistic, tastes pretty good, got more bread in most bites- mayo was good. Fries were iffy and a preferred taste to me.)
_______
Drinks:
-Sparkling water x2
-Coca Cola
_____
-Pizza broccolona vegan
(Best of the bunch, similar to a vegan pizzeria in hawaii but the crust has an Italian sweetness to it that you would have to be there to know)
____
Sides:
-French fries
(Good good)
____
Desert:
-tiramisu (never had tiramisu before but I enjoyed it)
-Nutella crepe (excellent, very tasty)
Price: 78,00
Final rating:
4/5 the high points were very good, but there can definitely be room for improvement. If it were me, I’d recommend a thinner crust on the cordon blue, rework the fries that came with that, maybe add more raviolis and/or ensure no hard parts and/or it could come with a side probably. Otherwise- great price for plenty of good food in the end. Very very good!
Pros: Service, Taste, Price
Cons: Hard piece on ravioli, Quality of cordon blue

Delicious pasta, but pizzas could be better - Edit
We ate at Rifugio Romano twice during our time in Rome and both times the pastas were amazing while the pizzas were okay. Would absolutely go back for their pastas and dessert though and we’re thrilled to see an all vegan restaurant do so well (it was packed on a Tuesday night and they had to turn away people who didn’t have reservations)

Nothing special - Edit
We came without an reservation in the afternoon and got easily a table. The food was ok but really not special. The carbonara (Primi, 12€) was pretty bland and the margherita (11€) wasn’t typical Italian but still tasted good.
Read moreStaff greeted us with the words „do you have a reservation? Do you know that this is a vegan restaurant?“… so we didn’t felt really welcomed.
So all in all a bit disappointing and no „wow-Moment“. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Delicious - Edit
Delicious food in relaxed setting. Nice to have vegan versions of traditional Italian dishes like cannelloni, ravioli etc. with everything done really well. Not cheap but reasonably priced for the quality of the food. The portion sizes did seem to vary quite a bit, with some pasta dishes being typical Italian primi sizes, and some being a larger main course portion. Lots of fake meat dishes for secondi which personally aren't my cup of tea but enough other options that we could avoid these. My favourite was the pumpkin and walnut ravioli.

Good food but not the nicest place to sit - Edit
Everything I had was good but the ravioli was excellent.
Read moreThe portion sizes were a bit erratic- eg some primi pasta dishes were quite small and some very large- which makes it a little hard to know how much to order. The secondi menu is impressive in that it has the traditional meat focus but with a wider range of substitute than I’ve seen in any other Italian restaurant. I’m not that into mock meats but if you are then you should make sure to come here.
The service was friendly and the food came quick. The restaurant is very popular and it feels like they’ve squeezed in as many tables as possible to accommodate which makes it a bit unpleasant to sit in.
Overall, I’d happily go back but it wouldn’t be a priority.

Ambitious menu 100% Vegan - Edit
Rifugio caters to local and international vegans alike. They turn away lots of tourists with: “do you have a reservation? This is a vegan restaurant.” Ask your server for recommendations based on what you like to eat (e.g., healthy versus fried). Some dishes are good and others are prepared in advance and heated to serve. The sautéed chicory was good if you like bitter greens. The homemade pasta with pesto was perfect. Vegan Nutella crepes are good to split for dessert. The salads are wonderful. The bruschetta was bad.

Pros: The homemade pasta special was fresh and delicious, Indoor and outside seating , Attentive servers
Cons: Menu should focus on the excellent items, Bruschetta was on cold, stale, thick bread

Needs some work on recipes - Edit
My family and I had three of their pasta dishes and three salads. Unfortunately there was not one dish any of us found to be good enough to eat more than half of (also the fresh ingredients in the salad were not ‘fresh’ in any way). We asked for a side of vegan cheese for my 6 year old to sprinkle on his salad to make it taste better, but the server looked at us like we were crazy to ask this question.
Read moreNone of us ended up finishing our plates and we sought another place to eat thereafter.. this was an expensive night.
Pros: The restaurant is fully vegan, Although reluctantly, the server brought cheese
Cons: Not good food, Some staff members were not accommodating, Pricey for quality & service received

Really disappointing - Edit
Will start with the service. The staff was friendly although they forgot that they I had ordered something afterwards and we had waited 10 minutes to have to remind them again.
Read moreNow for the food. It was overall disappointing. I had brought two omni friends and.. well, the experience left with a bad view of vegan food. We had ordered the carbonara, cacio e pepe, seitan, and a pizza. The cacio was actually decent, the carbonara was ok, the seitan was disappointing, the pizza was terrible. I could probably make all of them better at home. However, I did enjoy the tiramisu for dessert.
I wouldn’t worry about skipping the restaurant if it doesn’t fit in your itinerary.
Pros: Tiramisu

Great, traditional Italian food, but 100% vegan. Everything was delicious. The star of the show was the Maritozzo for dessert that had the whole restaurant looking and asking what it was so they could order it too. A must try if you’re in Rome. Just make sure to reserve a table or you won’t get in!
