Great service, lovely food, great prices!

Very glad we stopped of here for dinner. We were greated by very friendly staff and the service was very good. There were so many meals to choose from! We choose the kievs and houmous and falafel, both delicious. We also picked up a few bits from the pastry display to take away for dessert. It was our first meal out in Budapest so we don't know what typical reaturaunt prices are like but we were very, very pleasantly surprised and what we got for our money here! Very pleased, would recommend and may well return before we leave (in 2 days)!

Pros: Great value, Plethora of options , Friendly staff

Hungarian Dishes with Vegan Flair!

Loved trying the Hungarian dishes. We tried the Stuffed Cabbage and Seitan Roast with Ratatouille and both were excellent. Very filling and wonderful flavor. We were too full to try the cakes or desserts but everything looked beautiful. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will return.

Just amazing

We were at this place today and it was absolutely amazing. Very nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, menu also in english and a lot of food on it that sounds very tasty. We had a hungarian pizza and a grilled plate. The Grill plate has very good seitan on it and it had the perfect amount of spice. The pizza was the best vegan pizza i ever had. We also had the homemade ginger and rosewater lemonade and they werw also perfect.
Also we were lucky to listen to some smooth live music, which was neither too loud nor too gentle.
I would totally recommend this Restaurant if you are looking for good affordable food.

Pros: Very friendly, Affordable

Cons: No Cons

The #1 restaurant in Budapest

The place has a really good atmosphere with a really nice crew. Everything is well-designed, just like the food.

They have a nice variety of food, and even daily dishes! The dishes are mostly Hungarian and Italian. They have also ice cream and cake. You can't leave hungry, the portions are just perfect, I recommend you to start with a soup and go for a main dish followed with a cake or ice cream. If you are not that hungry, you can always go for pizza. Just like the place, the food is first class.

If you are looking for a nice dinner with someone, or for a business meeting, this is the ideal place for you. It's not just a street food bar, it is a serious restaurant, with magnificent food in the heart of Budapest.

Pros: A great variety of delicious food, Affortable, Nice environment

Cons: You will realize, that you could eat here everyday

One of the best !

Even though there are so many reviews here, I am inspired to add my superlatives. This is a great restaurant!

Wonderful ambiance, friendly staff who speak great English, memorable food, extensive menu, Hungarian options, generous portions, reasonably priced and all vegan!

Vegan dining just does not get much better than this. It is all good. For Hungarian food, try the stuffed cabbage.

And try to leave room for desert. Great cakes.

Be sure to have time to enjoy this experience. It sometimes takes awhile to get served as it can get busy.

I had a tasty filling meal

They serve a good meal and have plenty of options. I had a Hungarian based dish which was tasty and filling. Staff were friendly but the atmosphere wasn't quite working for me. I didn't feel relaxed enough to hang around too long.

Pros: Large number of options

Cons: Not the best atmosphere

Only vegan eatery at the Sziget Festival 2016

We ate at all four stalls from this restaurant at the Sziget music festival in August 2016. It was great to have it there, but sad there were no other vegan cafes represented. Non veggies were eating there too for variety.
After eating from their stalls solidly for two days, I'd say the food was a bit too rich and greasy, yet it was tasty and enjoyable. My favourite was the falafel, and the deep fried vegan cheese triangles were fabulous.

Best restaurant we've ever been to!

We went to Napfenyes Restaurant after reading the ecstatic reviews on Happy cow, and needless to say, ours will be a very positive one too.
We went there three times: two for dinner and once for a piece of cake and ice cream and we’ve loved every single dish we’ve ordered.
One in our group is gluten intolerant so she was very surprised by the wide choice of gluten free dishes and how tasty they were. I took the piquant pizza the first time and a traditional dish and goulash soup the second time and I was over the moon with every dish. The cheeses found in several dishes were to die for!
The service was very nice, the presentation superb, the dishes excellent and the price very accessible (especially compared to what we are used to in France).
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone who comes to Budapest, vegan or non-vegan :)

Best place ever

After eating there for the first time, we immediately fell in love with this restaurant and came back almost every evening. The menu is huge and every single thing we tried was absolutely delicious. The hungarian dishes are a must try! Their cakes are amazing, too. The staff speaks perfect English and is very friendly. I can recommend this place to everyone :)

Pros: traditional veganized dishes, friendly staff, nice interiour

Cons: a bit pricey but definitely worth it

Wow...probably one of the best vegan places in the world...

Had dinner every night during our vacation in Budapest. I was amazed from this place....Its probably the best vegan place I have visited. Huge variety, everything was very tasty, reasonably priced. Great location, looks and atmosphere. I asked if they had a cooking book and they have one only in Hungarian...hope they will have one in English soon. This place is a league of its own....taking vegan food to the next level. Great shakes, Pizzas, pastas, soups, Hungarian dishes, Grill dishes, deserts....I really look forward to my next visit in Budapest and this place is one of the main reasons...

Pros: Very very tasty. Huge menu. , Location, atmosphere and reasonably priced. , Friendly staff

Cons: none

Good vegan "hungarian" pizza. Great dough.
The waitress was smiling and kind.
The spinach risoto was a little bit greasy to me, but tasty. Recommended.

Terrible mistakes in service, excellent food

Like everybody else, we had 5 star experience until dessert. Food was absolute heaven, as it is in this place, and service is really good too but unfortunately everything didn't go we when we wanted dessert. We ordered cakes from where they were and when the waitress brought them to us we sais we'd like two coffees with soy whipped cream and the lady said sure and told it to a collegue standing nearby. We waited for 15 minutes and finally asked the waiter for whom the cake lady had talked if we're getting the coffees. He had no idea he was supposed to get us those coffees. After a while he comes back with one cappucino and we said we ordered two. After a little bit more waiting he came back with one more - but either of them wasn't with whipped cream. We were so frustrated but after all waiting we were in hurry and didn't have time to start wait for new ones. And the same happened previous day in their second location where we ordered 2 same dishes from the daily menu using very clear English and got instead a pasta from à la carte. I don't know if the staff has problems with understanding or where is the problem but its kinda sad and frustrating that you don't know what you get and if you get it at all :(

Pros: Incredible food, Child friendly

Cons: Not getting what you order, Don't know if the waiters have understood

Hungarian food, pizza, dessert, ice cream. Heaven?

My love affair for Budapest started at Napfenyes. We got the menu and agreed it was smartest to just order the huge Hungarian combo plate. Our first introduction to Hungarian food was a plate of fried, cheesy, flavorful, filling, warm, comforting food. As we left, the dessert case demands your attention. We ordered cookies and a beautiful piece of layered hazelnut cake. (Caution- the cakes are not as sweet as Americans are used to, so the hazelnut cake tasted of cream and hazelnuts with little sweetener).

Despite the fact that there are like a million vegan eateries in Budapest because it's actually heaven, we went back to where my love affair began. We ordered the meatiest pizza on the menu and a salad. This pizza was DELICIOUS! I can't say if it's worth ordering over the traditional hungarian food, so I suggest you go twice.

Finally, a sweet, creamy, delicious ice cream cone to say goodbye...

Pros: All vegan Hungarian food, Pizza, Ice Cream & desserts

Cons: Service is slow

EAT HERE if it's the last thing you do!!!

Been to few vegan places which I have enjoyed but none as much as this one! There was a large menu and a chance to try some traditional dishes which was great as I've wanted to try some proper Hungarian food.
It was quite cheap and absolutely amazing I am going to go back everyday as I want to try it all!!! The self service salad bar had loads of
Options along with soya cream dressing and I would of been quite happy with that on its own!

Pros: Great food , Friendly staff , Well priced - big portions

Best vegan restaurant in the world!

I've travelled extensively and this is the best vegan restaurant I've ever been to! Loads of choice and has some traditional Hungarian options. The lasagne was amazing, you wouldn't know it's vegan, the cheese is perfect in it. Also lots of choice of drinks, desserts and even ice cream!

Outstanding all vegan menu!

Great food, plenty of flavour and originality!
Great location near the river in the touristy part of Budapest, yet away from the crowds. Probably the largest vegan restaurant I've been to. Amazing daily specials and desserts also.
No booze though. Service was professional and adequate, but not outstanding.

Pros: All vegan menu, large restaurant , great location

The main meals were great but the service was a little slow... With the mains taking about 25 mins to arrive. But their food was pretty imaginative and the staff friendly. Apparently they sometimes have good live bands. Overall recommended!

Great!!!

I went to Budapest with my mother this month. She wasn't that excited about going to a vegan restaurant but her opinion changed after eating at Napfenyes Restaurant. First we both had a small salad from the salad bar. It was very delicious and you could choose from a wide range of different vegetables, not only the "typical ones". Our main courses were even better. It was so good that we decided to come back the next day. This time we also had some delicious cake. If you go there you should definitely try some pastries and the special rosewater lemonade!

Pros: wide range of different dishes and pastries, friendly staff/good service, you can also eat outside

Amazing!!

I am leaving Budapest tomorrow after a great vacation, and one of the things I'm saddest about is not being able to eat here again! The food here is so good, and it's tucked in a bit from a busy street on a quiet, shady corner that is perfect for relaxing and cooling down. I continued to go here over other vegan establishments in the city because this one offered Hungarian options as opposed to only pizza, burgers, and other more generic vegan food (this place does have pizza, though). The food is delicious, the portions are hearty, and do yourself a favor and get dessert!
