Miglior vegano di Budapest e oltre.. - Edit

Yes for vegan Hungarian food! - Edit
Was in Hungary a few years ago, and getting vegan food wasn't the easiest task. Hungarian food isn't exactly known to be vegan-friendly. So this restaurant is your shot at trying local traditional food in a vegan version!

My favorite place in Budapest! - Edit
I think you should go. We went there several times (only took pics on the first) and it was awesome! The food is great, I loved everything. Staff is really friendly, the atmosphere is great. But oh the cakes. You should have a cake when you're there!
Read moreMaybe getting a pizza is not the best choice. The pizza is good, don't get me wrong, but there are more interesting options.
Pros: Lots of high quality vegan options, God main dishes and cakes

Amazing veganised Hungarian food - Edit
Their veganised Hungarian dishes were really impressive when we visited in 2019. We had the seitan roast a la Brasov and the stuffed cabbage leaves and enjoyed the flavours of both.

Hungarian foods made vegan - Edit
As a hungarian who can't eat our national foods traditionally made with meat, it is a delight to have found this place. Came back to this place many times even with friends and most of them liked it.
Read moreA very big con though, is that I some dishes I've had was way too salty to be enjoyable. Not all dishes are bad and it could really depend on your luck.
For foreigners looking to try hungarian foods/desserts the vegan way, it is a great option!
Pros: Hungarian foods!, Good prices
Cons: Some dishes were too salty

One of the best vegan restaurants in Budapest! - Edit
One of the best vegan restaurants in Budapest! Not only is it delicious, but it also makes sure that the ingredients are of high quality and environmentally friendly (organic, carob, etc.). And the "somlói" is unforgettable😄

We shared (two people) the food and paid in total 12€.

A must-try when in Budapest - Edit
Napfenyes is one of the joints that can bring you easily back in time to try proper traditional Hungarian ammunition.
Read moreFirstly, the joint is cozy and nicely lit with natural light, staff are approachable and seating is nicely laid out.
Secondly, I had the Seitan Roast à la Brasov and even though i don’t know much about Hungarian cuisines, this dish was a home run. Authentic taste, packed with flavors and i especially liked the ratatouille. Once again, a really nice dish.
Happy to see the that the place was busy and doing well. Will definitely return when I come back to Budapest.
Pros: Good selection, Value for money
Cons: I wouldve enjoyed a nice beer, but water would do

Overrated and bland - Edit
Nice restaurant, good service and huge portions but food wasn’t great. We ordered the platter for 2 and while it had some good items (gyros, tofu steak and cabbage) it was mostly bland. We also tried the goulash but I found it watery and bland too. Wouldn’t go back, think it’s completely overrated.

The existence of place like this is in itself an act of vegan advocacy - Edit
Like a well-operated conveyor belt of vegan delicacies. Perfect for those fed up with the most common options offered to vegans: fancy restaurants with overpriced rabbit food and no decent protein choices, and sit-on-the-curbside-because-we're-so-alternative burger burrito pizza fries options. Napfenyes is where you get quick service and choices from the more fancy looking, to fast food, to traditional Hungarian dishes, to raw (if you are into rabbit food, after all).
Read moreIf you get a pizza the only one I allow you to order is the Coal Burner, with sausage and seitan. I call all of you vegans, who are reading this to rebel against the bruschetta style "pizzas". With no plant cheese and zero protein, it's a cheap way for restaurants to be able to say they offer a vegan pizza and get a V badge on their door.
We ordered dishes, one dessert, and two drinks and it came to HUF 11,150 which is GBP 26 and an absolute bargain for the quality of the food and experience. Images: raw platter (yes yes, I succumbed to the rabbit cravings), ginger rice with tofu and miso, and the Bresalev goulash.
The existence of a place like this is in itself an act of vegan advocacy.
Pros: Quick service, Staff speaks English, Varity of choices
Cons: A bit of a too "spiritual" vibe

Extensive menu, but Not Accommodating - Edit
Large variety, but very expensive. I ordered fried cheese and just one triangle was served for 600 HUF. It was heavenly, but damn. We were sharing between 3. They also refused to make a 50/50 pizza and the servers had no reason or explanation. They didn’t know why, but just knew they couldn’t, so not very accommodating. That’s bad service. Find out at least. Its bad service to leave us in the dark without options. We ordered a pesto pizza anyways which was delicious, but I wouldn’t return. They also turned all the lights off at some point because someone had a slice of cake with a candle. We couldn’t read our menus and I found that to be quite rude. Had to constantly flag down servers… skip this place. Ty Next.

Wasn’t what I expected - Edit
I can’t figure out what the vibe of the restaurant is because even though it’s a really nice place I feel like it tries really hard to be considered more lux than it actually is which is shame. I loved the food though! We had pasta with cashew parmesan and I had some soup. Both were delicious and the prices were great too.
