I couldnt believe there is something like this in Bilbao - Edit
This restaurant is not fully vegetarian or vegan, but almost all its menu is vegan!! Basque cuisine is known for being one of the best in Spain and in the world, but it is basically based on meat and fish. I had a tough moment trying to eat in Bilbao, but finally i discovered this place. I feel so good when I think about this place. The food was super tasty! The staff was great and helpful. All in all a perfect experience. Cheap tapas (pintxos here) and bocadillos (sandwiches). No doubt if you are going to Bilbao and you are a vegan this is your place

Today was the day when I decided not to go to Muga anymore. I've been there a few times but today I had enough. I saw a piece of what seemed bacon and I freaked out. I went to the barman to ask for an explanation and he said that he couldn't say anything (he didn't even apologized, he only tried to turn that on me). Never got an apology or anything. I ran away with sadness and anger knowing that I ate a piece of flesh because in the kitchen someone was too careless to give a damn about my vegan sandwich.

Read moreThere were 4 tasty vegan options, many vegetarian ones and a few including meat/fish. All my friends were very happy about the veggie and non-veggie pintxos! :) The prices are very low for a veggie friendly place.
The white wine was also delicious.

Stumbled upon this place walking downtown. Asked for vegan pintxos, they had two options, I can't say which one was best. The kitchen was closed, so I didn't get to try other menu options. Really recommend it!

Looking for vegan "pichos" - Edit
We went there because we saw they had vegan "pinchos". Only one. That was a little frustrating, but we stayed anyway. The staff was very friendly. I ordered the only vegan "pincho" and... It tasted delicious!! My non-vegan friends told me other "pinchos" were really good too.

It was a nice surprise when I was a first time to this bar (it is a must visit when I am to Bilbao) . It is like a typical old and dirty rock bar, but when you go in and see the menu your eyes open with so many vegan options! Sandwiches, vegeburgers, salads, etc. It is all delicious (although a bit oily). It is cheap, so you will be even more surprised with it.
Read moreThe only complain that you can have are the bartenders, they are quite specific and not always nice. But don't be affraid of them.
It DOES NOT ACCEPT credit cards aswell.
However, if you have a non vegan friends bring they here, you all will be happy. In contrary case, come here too!

If you're tourist you might want to have a look at this place because it's situated next to everything you'd like to visit ;)

Unfortunately the main issue is about the service : waiters were impolite and ignored us til they finished chitchatting with some friends. And they asked us to pick up our plate in a rather rude way :/
It made us feel they weren't thrilled about having foreigners in their restaurant...

A cool bar in the old town, with good beer and decent selection of vegan fast food. We really liked it there and came back two evenings in the row. I was surprised to see so many people complaining about the service here: hey, it's an alternative, a bit punky bar so perhaps you need to adjust your expectations:)

He comido un bocadillo vegetariano con seitan, humus pimiento y tomate, estaba muy bueno pero hay que reconocer que la atenciòn de los chicos que trabajan allí es bastante mala.. igualmente como en Bilbao parece que no hay muchos sitios para vegetarianos, es una buena opciòn para comer algo bueno!

Read moreThe staff was mega-rude and the music extremely loud; when we finally were paid attention to, we had to scream our order at the bar.
Meanwhile, the other barman provoked a fight with a customer who ordered a beer (as in "what are YOU looking at?!"). He left before we did...
After seeing this, we decided to get the food to-go. When we found a bench outside and unwrapped dinner... we found they got our order wrong!!

Don't go if you're a foreigner - they just serve locals and ignore the rest of the human race. I got a menu and sat outside. After a while, they came just to say that the kitchen was about to close. I left and then realized they were shouting an order from another table to the kitchen. At least, they let you read their menu. Very bad service.

Today all pintxos were vegetarian or vegan. Nice selection of tasty options. It's also not expensive. The restaurant crowd is alternative it's quite low key and it has a friendly vibe.
