Makes dairy-free popsicles called Maui Tropsicles - ask which ones contain honey and which don't. Due to the fire in Aug 2023 many Lahaina businesses are closed or have moved. Back open with limited hours!!

So yummy and the best vibes. I loved the lemongrass lemonade and the BLAT which kept very well unrefrigerated until dinner time.

BEST BEST BEST

I could eat here every day!
Their taro burger is off the hook.
It’s a zero waste and locally grown restaurant.
They host great events that support the community.
The owner is AMAZING and so creative!
Super easy parking.
This place is rad…not only do they make good food but they’re invested in the community and environment.

Just meh

I wanted to love this place because the mission of zero waste local organic vegan food is 100% on point. Unfortunately the food is just meh. My loko moku was dry and flavorless. The taro burger was a chewy tasteless puck. The fajita bowl was uninspired. It was slow and expensive and I was disappointed. The people are super nice though; I wish they had better food to serve!

Pros: Nice staff, Zero waste, Local and organic

Cons: Tasteless food

A good local option

Went to Miku roots while visiting the island again. Was saddened to see some of the menu items had changed over the years. But food was still incredible. Had the fajita bowl and cheesecake. Always a good visit.

Pros: Tasty food, Environment , Location

Thanks for coming in and supporting year after year. We source ingredients locally so they are subject to change with availability, for instance if you were missing our old buffalo cauliflower wrap/bowl, the deer ate all the cauliflower and cauliflower plants so we really haven't been able to get cauliflower in a year or so. There's other examples like this as well haha. Which sucks in some ways but forces us to get creative and sometimes come up with the best new dish ever!
Hope we see you again next time and perhaps we'll have that dish for you available again.

Clean eating

Best Vegan on Maui!

Had the Reuben and BLAT. BOTH INCREDIBLE! the in-house made bread is especially great and gluten free. Cocktails (‘Not a Virgin Mary’) was also great. Other cocktails have creative ingredients. Very accommodating with allergy restrictions.

Vegan AND Zero Waste

Moku Roots has delicious, fresh, vegan food and fabulous drinks and desserts. Almost all the ingredients are locally sourced and the menu is very creative. It’s always difficult to decide what to get here, there are so many good choices. What I also love about Moku Roots is that’s it’s zero waste restaurant. They have take out boxes and drinks containers you can either buy or pay a deposit to use on a returnable basis. For leftovers, you can use Ti leaves, which are much better for you (and the planet).

Pros: Zero waste, Fresh tasting

Read before going

This place was a true zero-waste business. I recommend bringing tupperware or other containers to avoid the fees of the takeout containers. We ended up eating in-person so that we could use their dish-ware. Love all of the vegan options and creative materials that are biodegradable. Highly recommend!!!

Enjoyed

Nice place with pleasant outdoor eating. Very into health food. Not the type of place for those seeking vegan burgers / fries, though they do have taro root burgers and yucca fries.

Drool worthy vegan eats

We’ve been back multiple times… I crave this back on the mainland. Don’t miss a chance to try these amazing, conscious, eats. The BLAT is incredible!

Came Back 2x

Food was so good, we ate here twice during our stay on Maui. The coconut bacon is awesome as the flavor is smokey and delicious and the coconut is cut randomly giving meaty texture. The falafel is perfectly crispy. Everything that we had was good.
Note that because it is zero-waste, you will put a deposit down for a tin for to-go or leftovers. You can return for money back or credit towards your next meal.
Also checkout the counter for pantry items like mac-nuts, nut butter, seeds, and fruits. High quality foods at really reasonable prices.

Excellent food

Everything we got tasted so fresh and flavourful. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Great section for kids too, and loved how eco-friendly everything is.

Yummy healthy dinner!

We went here for dinner two nights. The first night I got the Coconut Noodle Bowl. It was good but I really enjoyed the Reuben that I got on the second visit. Their Buffalo cauliflower was really good as well. I could have eaten just an entire bowl of that and been happy!Their Thai iced tea is yummy too. Not too sweet but good!

Great stop

Amazing!

Delicious everything and the most earth conscious restaurant I’ve been to. Fresh baked bread, to go items are wrapped in a banana leaf to reduce waste! A must while on the beautiful island of Maui

Happening Place

A well crafted if unusual menu, with interesting offerings. Atmosphere inside is a bit loud, but outdoor seating was pleasant with umbrellas.

must try!

Hands down one of the best restaurants I’ve been to. We tried many things and I didn’t feel sick or like I ate too much. I love the zero waste part, but if you get things like the noodles it might be harder to get takeaway for your left overs.

If you’re on Maui I definitely recommend making your way here.

Buy a bottle of LOVE SAUCE!!!

So good, so good! And REAL food. Super fresh & full of flavor. We went twice on our trip. Tried the Tara burger, raw pad Thai, sushi-Rita wrap, moku bowl. And the homemade love sauce, WOW. We bought 3 bottles to take home. I love that they use organic, local food & are zero waste. A MUST GO TO!

And as a bonus, the staff is incredible, very kind & welcoming.

Highly recommend!

We were only able to go here once during our Maui trip, but I wish we could have gone more! Their menu is super creative and I wanted to try just about everything.

We ended up getting the taro burger and BLAT to go. Both were delicious!
