One of the best Portuguese tapas places I’ve been to

The app doesn’t let me rate it 5 stars, but they definitely deserve it. First they are very aware of vegan dishes.. we came here twice - night after night. We took few dishes and it was so great!

Good service good food

They offer great freshly made food and suggested a new salad that wasn’t on the menu just for me!!! It’s not expensive and is just what you need to have a good veggy meal! Totally recommended

Pros: Some veggy options but they can customize , Very good and friendly service, Not expensive

Cultural in Coimbra

Just lovely slow food experience with vegetarian and vegan options in a warm outdoor setting with the buzz and atmosphere of street movement

Pros: Literally a while list of vegan and vegetarian

Cons: You need to park and walk. Much easier.

Good tapas, good location

That was good. We had a pleasant time. The tapas were very good and the waiter (or owner) took his time to explain the vegan options available. The sausages, batatas and stuffed mushroom are yummy. A bit expensive though.

Delicious

Small, cute little restaurant near the historic university in Coimbra. I got the stuffed mushrooms which were by far the best I’ve ever had. If the chef herself hadn’t served them to me while confirming they were vegan, I might think there was cream in them. They were so creamy and flavorful, and the staff was really helpful in pointing out the vegan options. Don’t come here starving because the portions aren’t huge (hence tapas), but I left very happy.

Pros: Made from scratch, Good service

Food is ok BUT

We ordered 4 dishes in total and spend 2 hours and 45 minutes in total.
I'm sure the staff didn't have fun either, as everyone was complaining but they didn't do much to manage everyone's expectations.
Having said that, the food was good, especially the mushroom sausage and the stuffed Portobello.
It turns out to be one of the only restaurant in Coimbra open for dinner that serves vegan food, so hey you might as well be patient.

delicious food

Went there for dinner twice. The vegan options are marked together with vegetarian, but the waiter is well informed and explained that all can be made without cheese. The food was simply delicious! We had tasty filled mushroom, and filled red pepper, very good salad and great mushroom sausage. Not huge portions (it is tapas bar) but reasonable. The place is small and the first time we had to wait very long time, but they warned us the minute we sat it will be a while. Located in the center. Highly recommended!

Expensive and severly understaffed

Ordered vegan sausage and vegetables, took a long time to arrive and came without bread (without which it would clearly not be enough) and salt/pepper. Asked for these, had to wait 10 more mins for bread because it was still being baked, and staff had to search for the spices and then gave me sugar instead of salt. By the time I started eating, the food had already cooled off. Just food for one person cost 14 euros which is way too much in Portugal. The vegan sausages themselves were good though. Drinks menu available only in Portuguese, not a problem by itself but then I don't understand the touristic prices.

Pros: Bon goût

Cons: Très cher, a pris longtemps

Absolute love!

I really liked this little restaurant! It had quite a few vegetarian and vegan options. Also all vegetarian options can be made vegan, so it was really nice to wait for such good food. Finding vegan food in Portugal is quite hard (for me) so I was very happy when I found out that they offer some delicious food. I would totally recommend it!

Pros: Vegetarian dishes can be made vegan, Extra vegan dishes in the menu, Good prices

Vegan awesomeness

An absolute highlight of the day! After finding Maria’s lovely place on Happy Cow we went there for a late lunch and were amazed by Maria’s heart melting kindness and energy. The food was a dream- Maria presented all the vegan options to us and they were plenty for four people to have a varied meal. Everything was simply delicious and the portions generous. We’re definitely coming back! We would totally give the place 5 starts but the site does not allow it as the restaurant is fully vegan/vegetarian.

Pros: Taste, Quality, Atmosphere

Delicious food in a comfortable atmosphere

We found this little place while strolling through the oldtown of Coimbra and decided to stop there for a sunny lunch, sitting in the outside area of the small restaurant. The waiter was really helpful in pointing out that mostly all of the vegetarian dishes on the menu could be made vegan and we settled for the "Tapas Bread" with olives and tomatoes (which was enough to please me for the rest of the afternoon) and the "Stuffed mushrooms" that were really delicious and definitely worth trying. It wasn't pricey at all and we really enjoyed the beautiful weather and the hectic life around us.

Pros: Helpful staff, Nice atmosphere, Portuguese food made vegan

A découvrir

Definitely not worth visiting

After reading the other reviews I was excited to eat at this restaurant while visiting coimbra but I was very disappointed. First, contrary to other reviews, the vegetarian/vegan options are very limited and are not adaptations of local cuisine. We ordered the pasta with pesto (worst pesto sauce i have had dominated by cheese flavor), mixed vegetable plate (not as described by waiter and instead it was 75% cabbage and no flavor) and oven baked potatoes (totally flavorless potato wedges). We left with half the food still on the table and went to eat somewhere else. I would certainly not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good vegan/vegetarian meal in coimbra. With the exception of this restaurant, my entire Portugal trip was full of successful dining experiences recommended on happycow.

Pros: Location, Nice seating

Cons: Food, Inaccurate description of food by waiter, Not a lot of vegan/vegetarian options

Awesome restaurant with vegan options

Small restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. Although not fully vegan, it offers several vegetarian and vegan options. make sure to ask the staff about their vegan options as they are not all indicated on the menu card.

The foods served were delicious and the complimentary home-made jeropiga was well-appreciated.

All in all, definitely worth a visit.

Pros: Delicious vegan options. Knowledgeable and flexibl

Sooo good!

This is a cute, typical portuguese restaurant, with amazing vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. I ate pesto pasta, which is actually vegan and a vegan dish (I asked),but sadly I can only rate it 4 star as it is a non vegetarian restaurant. I d personally give it 5; considering the good meal and the gentleness of the staff.

Pros: vegetarian and vegan options in a non-vegetarian r, typical environment, nice, informative staff

Cons: few vegan alternatives (but staff helps!)

For the sake of clarification, I ate at this restaurant and was told that the pesto is not vegan (it contains two types of cheeses). Further, the pesto tastes sour and store-bought from a jar. I would recommend not ordering this dish for people who usually enjoy quality pesto.
