Modern Vegan Chic - Edit

Saw this on happycow and was excited to try the vegan afternoon tea. We got scones, chocolates, little sandwiches, and hot tea. So good.

Pros: vegan, food, atmosphere

Nosh - Edit

Went to the vegan cream tea, which consisted of 1) a glass of nonalcoholic bubbly 2) tea 3) three sandwiches 4) scones and coconut cream and 5) a selection of cakes. All of this for £29 a head. When we went we noticed that the other diners left quite a bit on their plates, which we'd thought meant the food would be quite rich. The sandwiches were sub-par; underfilled, bog standard bread; a veggie Pret sandwich surpasses them easily. The scones were dry on the outside and underbaked in the centre. The coconut cream, which I had seen whipped in pictures was runny and dropped off the scone. The cakes crumbled at a touch because they were so dry. The only edible item on the plate was a date and nut ball. The service was ok. The waiter didn't know anything about the different teas. I wanted to like this experience, especially since Bakeaboo, which had a lovely tea, is now closed.

Not a traditional Afternoon Tea, but nice - Edit

I had hoped for a more traditional afternoon tea experience whereas this was a more modern, alternative take on it but it was lovely in its own way. The scones wheren't scones (I need to teach them how to make scones, seriously...) but the strawberries where the nicest I've ever had in my life and one of those cakes (chocolate) at the back nearly made me cry it was so good. The sandwiches were also nice but, again, I would have liked them to be more traditional. The staff were lovely.

Pros: Good quality ingredients, Delicious cakes, Friendly staff and good service

Cons: Scones not really scones, Sandwiches weren't really sandwiches

Looks nicer than it tastes - Edit

The terrace outside was nice to sit, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The vegan afternoon tea looked amazing but it didn't taste as good as I was expecting, the three sandwiches were ok, the BBQ one was the nicest, the scones were very dry, the brownie and carrot cake were nice but again dry. The hot chocolate was again ok and made me almond milk, overall I like the concept but the food did not impress me.
