A vegetarian mekka..!

After going through all the options for veg food in Reykjavik, this place is the one that is truly worth every penny. Salad buffet with the best chickpea salad, a lovely apple-ginger-goji berry salad, a gorgeous humus, a beautiful beetroot salad and a very tasty lentil soup, just to name my favourites. All organic. Even the freshbaked spelt bread was homemade. All the food there so full of flavor. Very central. Very reasonable price. The one in Hverfisgata also have an excellent veg lasagna and peanut steak. Highly recommended.

Delicious food. Affordable by reykjavik standards and with several options. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Decor is comfortable. Tried main menu items and buffet and was satisfied both times.

Love this place

My go-to if I'm having lunch in Reykjavík. Also great if you're veg eating with a non-veg, as there is plenty for everyone to choose from. You won't leave hungry but the food is light and healthy and don't leave your stomach feeling heavy. They really should mark which options are vegan, though, so you don't have to ask every time.

Pros: good variety of vegan selections, high quality food, all you can eat, won't leave hungry

Cons: should mark vegan options

Nice salad-and-soup-buffet but made a mistake

Ate here twice, I chose the buffet both times, on a weekday evening and in the weekend (more expensive then,~2500 ISK, think it was ~1900 ISK for lunch on weekdays). Not a vegan/vegetarian restaurant but also had some veg options both in buffet and menu (mainly nut steak, didn't eat it though).

The restaurant was cozy, oriental interior, live candles and interesting artworks. Also both times nice friendly staff and not too crowded. Also serve alcohol. Anyway, I got stuffed by the excellent spicy veg-soup and creamy mushroom soup as well as the options from the salad buffet (marinated chickpeas, raw veggies, bean-salad, barley and sun dried tomato, cold rice salad etc. Also yummy oils with basil, rucola etc.) The bread was also delicious.

The first time there I asked which soups were vegan, and they said both the mushroom and the veg was. However, the next time I overheard another customer ask about the soups and they got the answer that the mushroom soup has milk protein (or powder?) in it. So it was a bummer to find out after I'd already eaten it twice, because I had thought it was vegan (and it was delicious). I also tried both spreads, one was hummus and the other one I found out to be garlic butter (realized it while eating it), it had really looked like hummus/bean paste with tomato or something, and the foods weren't marked vegan/non v.

All in all the food I ate was good but afterwards I feel a little disappointed (and dishearted, what if other places also sold me 'vegan' food that wasn't vegan?). If they could mark the vegan options clearly and still keep 50/50 vegan soups (2/4) it would be great.

Soup & salad buffet bargain

Went here for a late lunch in the week wih my veggie bf.
We both opted for the soup & salad buffet, which was awesome. There were veggie options on the menu (def a lasagne) and some tex-mex choices in which I'm sure they could replace the meat for veg if asked.
The tomato soup was fantastic (just about managed 2 servings) and piled my plate seriously high with all the salad, hummus, chickpeas, kidney beans and pulse options. My ideal lunch.
Will try to go back again before we leave in 2 nights.

Pros: Value, All you can eat, Amazing soup

Cons: A few more prepared salads would be a bonus (there

Like a spice trade market restaurant

Total fusion of anything spice. Moroccan, Indian, middle eastern, etc.

I had the peanut steak. It was the on vegan entree. Loved it. The salad bar has vegan salads in it.

My omnivore partner got chicken tikka masala and he loved it too.

Pros: flavor, hearty

Cons: not many options for vegans

Great value buffet

Opening around noon they offer a buffet with soup and salad. There were four kinds of soup, two of which were vegetarian. I took the Indian vegetable soup which was good and tasty, although there wasn't that much vegetables in it (probably nothing for those who prefer thick soups).
The bread was exceptionally good, just excellent! Besides of butter there were two other spreads, namely hummus and something else (more spicy).
Salad bar both looked and tasted delicious. Everything was fresh and high quality. There are some meat/fish ingredients here and there (e.g. tuna), so be aware.
There is a lot of space, the Indian style interior engender a nice atmosphere, the staff was friendly and helpful and the price (until 4 pm., after that it gets more expensive) was reasonable for Icelandic standards. Literally nothing to complain about!

Pros: all good!

Good vegan option

It opens every day at the Hverfisgata 33 unit.
The soup and salad buffet is very good.
There are 4 different soups: 1 vegetarian and 1 vegan
The vegan soup of the day was mushroom soup.
It was very tasty, gluten free and had lots of mushrooms in it.
The salad bar has many vegan options as the hummus, shreded green apple with ginger and gojiberry, rice and paprika salad, etc.
The chickpea salad has oyster sauce in it.
The tomato soup has dairy in it.
The service is great. The place is well decorated, big and clean.
They speak english (as in all the restaurants around Iceland) and they can tell you what is vegan and / or gluten free.
The price is reasonable, around 2000 kr for the buffet.
They also have a la carte options.

Pros: Friendly staff, Good value, Tasty food
