Decent, but the cup runneth hardly over - Edit
I had the dahl, which was serviceable but didn't blow my tits off like I was hoping, and my partner had the oyster mushroom hamburger, over which I'd say much the same. It was nice, just missed something. The hamburger came with a salad that was roughly nine parts rocket and one part odd bits of veg en batonet and en brunoise, though oddly, without a dressing, but luckily every table has a little cruet of olive oil and dishes of coarse salt and pepper to add. Maybe that was a mistake with our order, but for the prices you're paying here, you don't exactly expect serviceable dahl and undressed salad. It's probably to make up for the no doubt gargantuan interior design budget upon starting the place, because the decor is to be seen to be believed (just kidding, of course - the rent is probably through the roof in such a touristy city). I did notice that every dish was based around a cheap ingredient, besides perhaps the oyster mushroom, with dearer garnishes here and there. The snacks are more where the place excels. I think it makes a better bar than restaurant.

Decent enough but expensive - Edit
Decent enough food, but not all that great and most definitely not for the prices there. Did much appreciate the little muffin that came with the tea and the snacks provided.

100 % vegan restaurant - Edit
In the first months of Kosmopoliet there were some vegetarian dishes on the menu, but since May 9, 2025 they are completely vegan!
Read moreWe were there with a group and shared some tapas, they are just like the main courses, very tasty.
Update December 2025: Made a second visit, very satisfied! Stew of sea vegetables is highly recommended!
Update July 2026: Once again, very satisfied with the dishes and the friendly service; on a Tuesday evening, the place was almost full.

Incredible food - Edit
A really nice place in Bruges. You definitely need a reso. We shared the flammkuchen, the pink risotto, and the seaweed croquette salad with sea veggies and everything was really good. Bruges is magical and it is made even more special when you can visit a really lovely all vegan restaurant to close off a long day of wandering and exploring the beautiful streets and canals!

Good - Edit
Had the Flammkuchen. It was okay, but I think the dough could’ve been cooked a bit longer, it was kind of soft.

Two excellent dinners at Kosmopoliet! - Edit
Ate here for both of our dinners in Bruges. Enjoyed the pink risotto, the flammkuchen (flatbread), bruschetta, and mushroom croquettes. Great find in this beautiful city!

Great food but baffling artwork - Edit
We really enjoyed the food and the staff were friendly. However, behind the bar there is a large image of what appears to be a naked woman with multiple tattoos. On inspection from a slightly different angle, this transforms into a woman wearing a niqab/burqa. I am not sure what message this was trying to convey but it seemed inappropriate for a restaurant and I would certainly not be visiting with any Muslim friends, as I feel this could be construed as offensive.

Delicious Vegan Meal - Edit
This was a delicious vegan meal and we were lucky to find it on a Tuesday when other vegan spots were closed. The food was authentic, unique, and truly tasty. Highly recommended.

Fancy, completely vegan restaurant - Edit
The restaurant/ bar is quite fancy and therefore a bit pricey. However, the food is great. I enjoyed the risotto and my partner had the ‘Flammkuchen’ - according to them the best they ever had.
Read moreMake sure to book a table. We were there on a Tuesday, when the two other other fully vegan restaurants were closed, which might be the reason that it was even busier. It was almost fully booked and we were only able to sit at the bar (which was still comfy). Others after us had to be asked to come back after 8.30 as they were at full capacity until then.

Dec 2025
Read moreHad another nice dinner.
Tapas:
- Bruschetta 14€
- Croquettes oyster mushrooms 11,50€
- Mushroom burger 23€
- Flammkuchen 22€
Expensive. But very relaxed setting.
Nice to see the flammkuchen on the menu. A portion that fits my appetite and taste buds much more than the burger or sea stew!
Aug 2025
We had another lovely dinner. Swift service, nice vibe, great food!
Had appetizers: broccoli 14€ and buschetta 14€. Main dishes: stew of sea vegetables (24€), mushroom burger with potato wedges 23€, dessert: apple pie 10€ and steawberry pie 12€.
The main dishes and desserts are huge portions (next time we will split a dessert 😉). I wouldnt mind a smaller portion (for an accordingly smaller price ).
It's all vegan now. Great!
Changed from 4 to 5 stars.
---
Feb 2025 - Was here for dinner, with a reservation (advised).
Menu has some warm and cold appetizers (shareables) and main dishes, dessert
We saw a dish with sour cream and one with tzatziki on the menu, and (obviously?) thought they were not vegan. Also because an earlier review mentioned there was only one vegan main dish?
Turns out that ALL dishes are vegan (at least for the current menu) except for the dessert of that day (something with pistache?).
A bit confusing, and maybe the menu could clearly state what's vegan/vegetarian (or better still, just go vegan all the way 😉).
We had:
Appetizers (shared)
- grilled broccoli 14€
- nomet kombu krokettes 11€
Mains:
- mushroom wine stew with mashed potatoes 23€
- oyster mushroom burger 22€
The appetizers were really nice, the broccoli dish rich in flavours and spicy!
The main dishes were very large portions, I could not finish mine (my husband took over). The stew was very originally presented, with pointed cabbage on top. Nice touch, but unhandy to eat (trying to cut it just pushed it into the stew/potatoes). Burger was nice.
There was also a vegan dessert: apple crumble with whip cream 10€. Lovely but pricy.
Very nice interior, lovely cosy vibe, stylish, dimmed lights. Combo of chairs and benches (with some cushions available).
Very friendly service, and we didn't have to wait long for food to be served.
Restaurant room not acessible, several large steps to get in.
Toilets downstairs, didn't see an accessible toilet. Clean.
Gave them a Happy Cow window sticker. Hope they put it up!

Thanks for the comment! Indeed - because you and other visitors suggested - we go completely vegan now. No more excuses: everyting is plant of fungus based. Thanks!

“If I have food like this, I can consider becoming vegan” - Edit
Quote by my husband who recently became vegetarian. Such a nice place with delicious food! I recommend it! Also out of the box choices, not only the typical vegan option. You should visit!

Sea vegetable stew - Edit
I really enjoyed the food. I opted for the artichoke dip with garlic bread to start and then the sea vegetable stew for my main. The stew was particularly tasty. Portions are quite generous so I couldn't manage pudding.

Classy vibes, nice food - Edit
The service was ok, the waiter a little cold.
Read moreThe menu is original and diverse. We love that some dishes can come in different sizes.
We regret that for this kind of restaurant everything is not in season. For instance the seasonal soup of december is with tomatoes...
Oyster mushroom croquettes : delicious. We were surprised that the filling was a total puree, we would have expected some mushroom pieces for a better texture. Also the black garlic sauce lacked some intensity.
Flamenkuche with truffle salsa (small size) : delicious.
Oyster mushroom burger : very good however maybe the industrial cheese is not necessary as the burger in itself is flavorful. The plate is big as there is a good portion of fries and salad. Some veggies of the salad were not in season, that's a pity. Also the mayonnaise was a little bit bland in taste, it would have needed a kick such as more herbs, garlic or lemon.
Dame blanche : very delicious vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate and whipped cream . It was a very pleasant and comforting dessert to end this beautiful meal.
Overall it was a nice experience but taking into account the price and the fact that everything was not perfect, I cannot put five stars.

Cozy Place and Amazing Croquettes - Edit
A very cozy vegan restaurant with a chic appearance. It didn't take long to find out that one of the waiters was Brazilian, which was quite a pleasant surprise for us. We then placed all our orders in Portuguese!!!!! As a hot starter ("Tapas warm") we chose the croquette ("Nomet kombu-kroketjes"), which was incredible and it is a very typical dish for Belgians. For main courses ("Hoofdgerechten") we ordered the "Pasta" and "Oesterzwamburger" dishes. The dishes were very tasty and in good quantity. The only downside was the price, which was quite steep, but the experience was incredible. We left very satisfied.
