A great spot for breakfast

A welcome find - I had a delicious smoothie and tofu scramble for breakfast overlooking the street. A great hearty breakfast.

Terrible service

Lunchtime and they had run out of about 4 dishes that I wanted, so I ordered spinach pasta. After about 20 minutes the waiter comes back to tell me they had run out of that too. I didnt mind too much and I ordered the vegan omelette, and was excited to try it. When my food comes out, it was the pasta, and the waiter said turns out the chef could make it. It was pretty average, 90% capsicum and the smallest amount of spinach. Tiny portion too. Annoyed because I was there for a while and I had gotten excited to try the omelette, and was instead served something really average. Im sure the other dishes are nice, but I wont be going back to find out.

all vegan hoorah!

All vegan menu so you dont have to worry about ingredients - choose at will. Entrance looks a bit dodgy going through into a building then upstairs but it is fine. Go there, pick amazing food and relax

modern restaurant and very tasty

You reach the restaurant, which is on the second floor, over a narrow house entrance. The entrance is easy to overlook. You should pay attention to the small sign with the logo, which is not at eye level. the dining room is relatively small but adequate for about 15 people. There is also a small balcony from which you can observe the hustle and bustle on the streets. The selection of food is good but not too extensive. nevertheless everyone should come here to his taste. there are, for example, spring rolls, pizza, omlette (all vegan). The prices are a little bit higher but still reasonable. I liked it there very much. the employees are friendly and attentive. something unusual is unfortunately the toilet, which is located on the first floor behind a grid. definitely uncomfortable, but probably because of the architecture is it not to changeable. but the restaurant is recommended.

My favourite vegan place in Hanoi

The dishes were very healthy, not too much oil and sugar. Mix of western and asian dishes. To me it was a nice change to the unhealthy streetfood. But of course more expensive (~100,000 VND for a dish)

Pros: healthy food, they have vegan breakfast options, good service

Cons: quite expensive, limited options

Fantastic Vegan Restaurant

A little bit hard to find on the second floor of a ordinary shop hanois busy old french quarter but its realy worth a visit. Jalus offers a great selection of european, asian and international food. Everything we tried was fantastic and absolutely affordable.

Pros: vast variety, affordable prices, cosy atmosphere

Very tasty, nice and quiet and good temperature!

Went there for supper with my wife. It was so nice to get "proper" food, that was 100% Vegan. It tasted so good, and we got totally full for an okay amount of money.

Pros: 100% Vegan, Tasty, Good menu

Cons: I cannot find any cons about this place

Hidden gem - great breakfast

Slightly tricky to find (look up!)
But we felt food and super friendly staff. All vegan. We had vegan omelette for breakfast with ice banana coffee - delicious! Would definitely recommend for any vegan or veg in Hanoi.

Creative and delicious

One of my favourite restuarants in Hanoi. The menu is creative and different and they have vegan pizza that is delicious! Everything I've tried there has been excellent.
It's something different from the rest of the veggie restaurants in Hanoi and right in the Old Quarter.

Great Find

Even with the power outage the staff were very friendly and the jalus salad and bean bowls were both excellent choices! Incredibly cheap too with the lunch costs less than £10!

everything was delicious, staff is so nice, NO MOCK MEATS OMG :)

I visited Jalus 4 times during my stay in Hanoi because I wanted to try everything on the menu (sadly, I did not eat everything). The vegan omelet and the gnocchi were OUT OF THIS WORLD. I don't know how else to phrase that. They were two of my favorite things ever and this was by far my favorite vegan omelet that I can recall in general. The curry was also delicious and the bean me up bowl was more of a salad, which bummed me out a little because I was picturing a hot bowl but it was yummy nonetheless. I also had some type of coffee mint frozen something on vegan omelet day and it was perfect. The staff is also so sweet, I had the same server who wears glasses three of the 4 times, and was treated soooo kindly every time :) sometimes they are out of menu items, so just go in with flexibility. And seriously, they make their food out of VEGETABLES. Not a mock meat in sight. I think my body cried tears of for joy eating actual food!

Pros: service , VEGETABLES

Cons: verrryyyyy quiet

Decent vegan place

Smoothies were delicious. Loved that they used bamboo straws (and reuse them after thoroughly cleaning them). Not going to lie, when we went we felt the food was ok, despite constantly reading amazing reviews about this place. Maybe we went on an average night?

Good Juices and Smoothies

I really enjoyed the atmosphere in this restaurant. It's located on the second floor. I had the spinach cucumber ginger lemon juice and a berry smoothie! That one was really good! So make sure to come here if you're in old quarter!
They also offer bamboo straws which I think are soooo cool for take away drinks or if you use straws at home! I bought one and it's 35000 Dong.

Great Pizza!

We had tofu and mushroom pizza, nori rolls and spring rolls here. Pizza was the best, very delicious! Fresh Spring rolls and nori rolls were a bit dry but still good with the sauce. The menu is different than the photos in here, smaller.

Worth a visit

We had dinner here twice in a few days. The staff are friendly and good English and the place is clean and comfortable.
We tried the Thai pizza (good and spicy), the gnocchi (delicious) and the spicy potato curry with red rice which was the best meal of the lot...and a huge serving.

Pros: Great food, Friendly staff

Excellent, tasty food

We had the lasagne and the raw veggie/bean assortment ("beam me up" plate). I was really impressed with the lasagna. It was full of flavour with a rich, creamy sauce. That alone is worth a visit. The restaurant has a cozy cafe vibe and they have a balcony as well. We also ordered the Hanoi tea, which was served tepid (not sure if normal?), and the coconut milk masala chai, which was delicious. However, for some reason, drinks took a lot of time to be served, with the chai arriving long after we'd gotten our food. The waitress was very friendly.

Pros: Delicious filling food full of flavour , Great café vibe, inviting and warm, Friendly service

Cons: Drinks arrived very late, Hanoi tea was tepid (sor

Jalus

We dined here last night.10/01 Truly a vegan place that should be supported by all vegans.
We had mixed platter, spinach home-made noodles roasted veg salad, blueberry smoothie and finished with Energy Ball and Mud Chocolate Cake.
My only criticisms are the croquettes on the platter were not. The Mud Cake would have been better not using sponge cake base it didn't melt in my mouth.
Jalus has changed some of their dishes, for the better.
They now have great cakes to takeaway for birthdays or any celebrations u might have 350,000d or 4000,000 dong.

Revisited Jalus and we had the vegan tofu omelete and mushroom burger. They both came with too much dressing. The mushroom burger texture and look was pale with sliced mushrooms on the 'burger', far too much bbque sauce (avocado sauce not available) so made the bun taste hot from the bbque sauce. Please put the dressing separate. Let the customers put the basalmic or any dressing themself on. The tofu omelete salad had dressing all over it, losing the natural taste of eating this dish. The drinks passionfruit was lovely and the smoothie ok, needs to be freshly made rather being soooo cooold to drink. Bill was 271.000 ($3:50)

Nice atmosphere but not very good food

Jalus has a really nice atmosphere, although it is clearly a place for foreigners, since I didn't see a single local apart from staff. This might be due to the fact that it is quite pricey.
Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the food, I had a meal which came with a sauce but was rather boring and too simple. The coffee was very watery and the combination of ingredients in the juice didn't really work. Other people seemed to enjoy their food, so I might have been unlucky!

Pros: Nice atmosphere, Healthy food

Cons: Expensive, Food is not very tasty
