Rare Japanese Vegan restaurant - Edit
I was amazed that one server seated you, took your payment in advance, served and bussed for at least 20 seatings in this active restaurant.
Read moreIt was nice to get flavorful Japanese dishes (in our case set meals) delivered rather quickly despite what I mention above.
Pros: Quick service, Great Udon dishes
Cons: Only one server that didn't speak English, Service felt kind of sterile and cold

One of my favorite restaurants in Taipei! - Edit
I used to come here often when I lived in Taipei. So of course I had to come back to eat my favorite udon noodles! I ordered the curry udon soup as I always used to. I love the taste of the fresh homemade udon noodles and light flavorful soup! It always hits the spot. My friend ordered the rice and curry set and she enjoyed her food. I tried some of her tempura and was amazed by how a deep fried dish could taste so light and somehow oil-free. It definitely doesn’t taste heavy and oily like tempura from the US. I love this place and will always make time to stop here whenever I visit Taiwan!

Great set - Edit
I tried the cold noodles set with tempura and side dishes plus desserts, everything was good and the portion was very copious (kinda wish they offer a smaller set) but everything I tried was delicious!

Miso udon was great, would love to try the other udon dishes too if I return. The popcorn tofu seasoning reminded me of KFC seasoning - crispy and delicious. Nice restaurant to sit in, many seats, bit pricy but worth it. Given a menu to browse but order with QR code yourself.

Authentic vegan Japanese - Edit
Lovely restaurant with a range of noodle and rice options, either in a set or individually. Lots of side dishes too, and some dessert. We loved the udon, tempura, the tangy tomato side dish and the sesame green leaf salad.

Fantastic - Edit
The tomato udon soup was divine (I was warned that it was sour and spicy, but found it neither) and the popcorn tofu was perfectly crispy. I really enjoyed the tangerine-matcha mocktail as well.
Read moreWhen you get there you scan a QR code to get in line for a table. When seated, there's another QR code for the menu and you order online - I found the whole process very convenient. The place was very crowded at rush hour, but by the time I was done eating lunch it was almost empty.
Pros: Great food and drinks , Convenient ordering process , Friendly service, English menu available

Try everything here! - Edit
Must try! I know most people are raving about the soba noodles-which are fantastic-but their kimchi is off the chain! Try everything if you can. I couldn’t finish everything I had but I have leftovers. The staff is great. Food was fresh and flavorful. The setting is beautiful. The dishes were gorgeous. Honestly, I wish I didn’t live so far away. I’d be here a few times a week.

Really good noodles; be prepared to wait - Edit
This is a really popular all-vegan shop specializing in soba and udon, with some other Japanese options and a variety of sides.
Read moreIt's not a super big place, so you'll likely have to wait. There's a QR code posted out front that you scan to register your place in line. When it's you turn (or when you're next up) they'll give you another QR code that you can use to order. Pretty straightforward.
I had the zarusoba set with pickles, vegetable tempura, seaweed soup, and red bean soup for dessert. All was delicious. The noodles had a fantastically chewy texture. The dipping sauce for the soba was perfect, with just the right amount of wasabi. Tempura came out hot with light batter and a rich sauce. Pickles were nicely presented and well seasoned. The soup was about as good as seaweed soup gets, which isn't super good, but I still enjoyed it. Red bean soup was standard but enjoyable.
Strongly recommend a visit; its popularity is deserved. For the quality, the price wasn't outrageous, and there's even a vegan bakery attached to it that you can visit while you wait.

Delicious udon, conveniently located next to a vegan bakery - Edit
Stopped by for lunch after visiting its sister-bakery (Yiihotang) next door, ordering the Meal Set for Two (one spicy udon, one tomato broth udon, with tempura and black sesame tofu, and matcha ice cream). The tomato broth udon was delicious, the spicy udon is indeed spicy now and also delicious. Also enjoyed the sides and dessert, although the matcha flavour could have been stronger (Yiihotang's matcha pudding hit the spot much more). Note that they also sell a few products for at home (seaweed snack, barista non-dairy milk, etc.).

Fresh noodles - Edit
2020-08-04: The soba noodle set was a very filling option, and I loved every moment of those cold house-made buckwheat noodles on a hot day. The variety of vegetables that came as sides were fantastic. I loved the edible fern in sesame sauce. The bowl of miso soup was also lovely. The staff let me upgrade to the Uji matcha anmitsu instead of choosing from the default red bean soup or matcha ice cream and gave me a NT$30 discount off the usually NT$160 anmitsu. It was a delightful dessert and really rounded out my indulgent meal. Treat yo’self!
Read more2019-09-29: I’m glad my friend Jessica made a reservation for our party of four on a Saturday evening: the place was bumping! She and her husband ordered the two-person set (two noodles, side dishes, and desserts for NT$650), and another friend and I each ordered hot udon noodles a la carte and shared an order of warabimochi (NT$90). We did get a couple of English menus after we requested them from the staff who seated us with four Chinese menus. Just FYI: “slightly spicy” is less spicy than “mildly spicy”.
The waitress who took our order had this putrid expression on her face the whole time because she didn’t like the way we spoke Chinese. And she got my order wrong: I wanted the spicy udon noodles (NT$200), but she submitted the order as original udon noodles (NT$190). When my bowl came out, I pointed out the mistake, and the other waitress happily took it back to the kitchen to add spicy condiments on it.
The udon tasted nice and chewy, and the spicy oil was great for warming me up after being subject to a rainy run earlier that day and still having soaking wet clothes clinging to my bones. The warabimochi was pretty good, but not the best I’ve had: I think they could have used a more flavorful seasoning on the outside (e.g., peanut flour, matcha powder).
The restrooms are modern, but the piping must still be older since they have signs up requesting that you dispose of your toilet paper in the trash cans rather than flushing it. (The trash can was fit to overflow, so I think the staff should pay more attention to maintaining the facilities.)
Overall, I appreciated availability of English menus, enjoyed the food, and inhaled more of the complimentary hot tea than I probably should have. I’ll be back to try their soba and cold udon some other time.

Lovely set up, decent food - Edit
Enjoyed my meal here. I found that many of the bases to some of the flavours were seaweed or kelp based, which is not particularly to my taste. However, the food is super healthy, clean and tasty with the tempura veg being a favourite.
Read moreCold soba noodles were okay (a little dominated by the seaweed, but i digress). Tofu was nice too. Desert as part of set menu was okay and tasted healthy, not too sweet. As opposed to a previous review, there is an English menu with a clear and modern layout. The staff are friendly so don't be afraid to go in. A tiny bit on the pricier side for Taipei, but with a lovely decor and free tea it is more than worthwhile,
Pros: Beautiful, modern restaurant with english menus, Free tea
Cons: Staff themselves were not bilingual

Incredible - Edit
This is my new favourite in Taipei. Everything was great. It was just like Japan, only 100% vegan, and maybe even tastier.
Read moreI ordered the cold soba set. The handmade soba were perfect, maybe the best I've ever eaten. The accompanying broths were sublime. There was a great selection of pickles and side dishes, and the matcha ice cream was beautiful. The only thing was the fresh wasabi was really weak, i asked for more, and they made a much stronger batch for me.
I would give this 6 stars if i could.
Pros: Beautiful food, authentic, handmade noodledñs
Cons: None
