Avoid at all costs - Edit
I seriously do not understand where all these good reviews came from. My partner and I went out of our way to come here for dinner at 7-ish and saw only two persons dining. Although we were feeling a bit iffy about this place, we still went in because I remembered about the positive reviews on here.
Read moreAfter we sat down we were served two welcome drinks, which were quite nice; then everything went downhill. As we weren't that hungry, we just ordered a mango chutney with flatbread (€4.25) as starter and the middle eastern plate (€16.20) as main dish to share. Thought it would be enough food given the price tags; but no, the portions were outrageously stingy. We basically got a tiny condiment plate of mango chutney and a piece of palm-sized flatbread split in half. The so-called middle eastern plate was even more of a rip-off. The four mezes we chose were tofu-broccoli kebab, yam curry, eggplant curry, and falafel. The kebab was a joke; it came in a skewer (yes, just one) composed of three pieces of steamed/boiled, mushy, tiny, bland broccoli florets and three pieces of tasteless tofu about half the size of your thumb. Then the curries, they tasted OK but we couldn't even tell which was which. Where was the eggplant? Onto the last meze, we got three pieces of flattened coin-sized falafel with some kind of tahini sauce. It just boggled our minds how they could possibly make them this small, not that they were tasty anyway. Except for the couscous, which BTW was flavorless, the flatbread (again palm-sized), and the falafel, there was nothing middle eastern about the whole plate whatsoever; also everything was just lukewarm. Grossly overpriced for what it was.
The setting was kind of hippie in a bad way. The rug and cushions on the low table looked like they had never been washed. The floor seemed a bit dirty, and then there was the cat that walked everywhere.
When we left, we noticed this shoddy electric fountain decoration thing just outside the door, and in it were a carrot, an onion, and a garlic head, WTH is that???
This was the worst dining experience we had during our trip to Amsterdam. Two cows is a generous rating.
Cons: skimpy portions, overpriced, dingy setting

🐱 roaming around - Edit
The food was good and service was kind, but nothing special. They have a cat that’s running around and sleeps everywhere. My friend I went with is allergic, so not a good start having cat hair everywhere.

Bland food - Edit
The restaurant is pretty and the atmosphere is nice, but the food is quite bland and the portions small. Wouldn't come here again.

Less good than I thought - Edit
This restaurant is only allright and the staff is a bit chaotic.
Read moreThe food was decent, but not wowing. The tofu masala was marked as vegan on the menu, but turned out to be vegetarian by default. You need to specify vegan!
Also, the dishes contained ingredients that were not mentioned on the menu, so you need to check all your allergies with the staff. They don’t read the allergy descriptions from the reservations.

unkind service :( - Edit
Friend ordered vegan-labeled dish, which has a suggestion to add paneer. It was their first time eating Indian food and didn’t know it would be dairy. The staff didn’t apologize and refused to make eye contact when we said we couldn’t have dairy and weren’t aware it would contain dairy based on how the menu was labeled. They just said it’s impossible to have vegan paneer and walked away. Very disappointing considering the price point of the restaurant.

A gem in downtown - Edit
I ate here with my dad and 2 friends. We got a few different curries and a Flatbread Naan. It was all very tasty but it's not authentic Indian food. If you expect that you will get European food that is Indian inspired so that is more accurate. The portion sizes are good and it's easy to share dishes.

One of the best Vegan Curries I had - Edit
The vegan curry was so so good!
Read moreAlso ordered the carrot and ginger fresh juice, and the vegan mushroom nan. Both were great.
Although the nan was more like a pizza/normal bread, than traditional nan.
The service was great too. Very friendly.

Super cosy vibe, as we had the spot in the window with pillows and low table. Nice and affordable vegetarian and vegan food in Amsterdam. A mix of (inspired by) Indian, South East Asian dishes & pizza. Super friendly staff and fast service.

nice restaurant with good vegan options - Edit
Had a lovely dinner at the Golden Temple last night. They offer many vegan options. I’ve tried the mushroom spinach pizza (absolutely lovely, one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had) and the summer rolls (good but too expensive with 10€ for 1.5 small summer rolls).

Go & order the Coconut Pie! - Edit
I had a lovely dining experience at Golden Temple. It was everything I was looking for and more. The food was fresh, flavorful, exciting, and prepared to near perfection.
Read moreI ordered the Tofu Tikka Masala: Indian masala curry with onion, tomato, bell pepper, and tofu served with chapati, mango chutney, and basmati rice. For dessert, I ordered coconut pie, which is now known as the BEST DESSERT I'VE EVER HAD!
TOFU TIKKA MASALA - Simply divine. The curry was rich in depth and flavor. The portion was vast. While I was eating, it reminded me of a warm hug. It was comforting and soul-soothing.
BASMATI RICE - The rice was fluffy and cooked to perfection. The crispy onions on top were great for added flavor and texture.
SIDE SALAD - I'm not sure what the salad dressing was, but it was scrumptious! I'm not a fan of salads, but I would order this again in a heartbeat.
The whole dish was super fun to eat too!
COCONUT PIE - is in 1st place for the best dessert I've ever had! It was pie perfection! Everything about it was delightful: crunchy crust on the bottom, sweet and smooth coconut custard, selection and amount of fruit for acidity, slivered almonds, sesame seeds, and the agave or simple syrup drizzle on the plate. I was speechless after eating this pie, and I'm still short on words now. I would go back to Amsterdam just for this coconut pie!
