A sudden change of plan in a road trip called for a visit to Nanaimo. There are a lot of places in Nanaimo for vegan options however most either are closed on Sundays or close at 6 neither of which were useful for someone arriving in Nanaimo at ten to six on a Sunday! Gabriel's cafe was open till seven so this was a great option, vegan choices clearly labelled as well as dishes that can be easily modified. I had the Malaysian peanut tofu rice bowl and it was delicious despite being very filling, I couldn't finish it all and so I was quite upset as I hate wasting food and it was super delicious but oh well! Pay upfront when ordering is great add on and staff were all fun, kind and extremely efficient! Healthy fast food you could say!

Great quality & taste - Edit
Fantastic quality and taste. We have tried about 4 different dishes here, the regular options and one special that was vegan. Vegan options are clearly noted on the menu, which is always appreciated, to make ordering easy.
Read moreI only wish they would have additional vegan options (or "veganizable" dishes), as for example there is only one breakfast option currently on the regular breakfast menu and I think two on the other main menu. As I also can't have high fat options without getting sick, and one of the few vegan options is pretty high fat, not too much I can order here.
Since the top star option is 4 for this restaurant in the system, I have to give this a 3. The dishes on their own are certainly 4, without the menu limitations considered.
But we'll be back for sure!

Excellent Spot - Edit
Came here a couple days in a row. Had the Chickpea Fritter Wrap on day one and the Tofu Scramble on day two. Both were awesome. I'd order them again and will be back soon.
