Delicious and amazing!

Melange Restaurant was such a delight, my partner and I decided to come here for date night. I ordered the eggplant rice bowl with a bowl of edamame. The eggplant was amazing, I’ve never had such a unique preparation of an eggplant and chickpea in a sauce combined on top of white rice. It has so much flavour, I highly recommend it.

So-so Burger

Melange is a sit-down restaurant with a good atmosphere and a nice range of cocktail, wine, and beer selections. The vegan options on the menu consist of a series of fairly simple appetizers (e.g., fries, olives, and edamame), and main dishes that consist of a mushroom/chickpea burger that can be made vegan, a mushroom tagliatelle pasta, and an eggplant rice bowl. I tried the burger without the egg. It was decent and had good texture, but was quite crumbly. It came with fries and salad, but they charged $3 each for those, so the total price of $23 for an average burger seemed expensive.

Lunch bag let down

There wasn’t a ton of options but enough that lunch could’ve been great. We ordered the mushroom cakes which were absolutely flavourless somehow. They were a mushroom vegan version of crabcakes but they missed the mark extremely. Then ordered the pesto Panini which was a pile of flavourless pasta. The dish had a lovely presentation but it felt like a bowl of cereal in that the noodles were sitting atop an enormous amount of oil and water(Pasta likely not strained properly). The Ramen was also completely lacking any depth in flavour from the broth to the tofu, to the vegetables in said broth.

Pros: Decent options, Friendly staff, Great cocktails

Cons: Expansive, Flavourless

Nanaimo restaurant good for vegetarians and vegans

Lovely bistro style restaurant with a variety of food, including specifically vegan entrees. The owner is working closely with the provincial health authority to comply with the current requirements for restaurants during the Covid 19 pandemic, and we felt safe and cared for by the attentive staff.

Pros: They have dedicated vegan options. , Good atmosphere and location., Delicious food
