A Vegetarian Haven in Meat-Crazy GDL - Edit
I've been living in GDL for two months. This is a city of birria (goat stew) and torta ahogadas (pork sandwiches covered in spicy sauce). El Jardin is a refreshing escape from the city's meaty fare. The buffet is all-you-can-eat, with a good selection of salads as well as some hot dishes. I served myself a salad of mixed lettuces, red cabbage, shredded carrot and sprouts, topped with olive oil, vinegar and spiced seeds. On my second turn at the buffet I went for the warm food: lentil soup and a nutty rice pilaf that I topped with some of their fake meat products. The stand-out dish that I had with both courses was their soy ceviche, which is lime-marinated soy granules mixed with tomato and cilantro. It's best served on top of tostadas. For dessert, there were cookies and rice pudding. The only drinks I saw were Santorini water on tap and coffee to go with dessert. There are signs posted around the buffet promising that all the food is washed and disinfected, which is important here. The price was about 75 pesos ($7.50 US/CAD) and well worth it. My body thanked me for the healthy meal!

Loads of vegetarian and vegan options. So much food to choose from. My favourite was the vegan pizza and quesadillas. Perfect place to come if you’re in need of a big feed.

Wow! Oh my gosh, this place is off the charts if you're into health food. All the vegan items on the buffet are clearly labeled and most of them are vegan. I had a super tasty salad of sunflower sprouts and all the broccoli I could eat! If having a plate piled with vegetables is your thing, you're gonna love this place. They have take away food, vegan yogurt, chocolate and more. There are deserts, too! It's very clean and alive with plants. People love this place, it was busy but there was plenty of everything. The all you can eat buffet comes in at about $9 USD, it was $159 pesos before tips. I wish we still had true health food spots like this back in the US.

Review of el Jardín from a vegan Mexican - Edit
El Jardín is where I mainly get all my vegan meat replacements, pre cooked meals, plant milks etc. It's a buffet, so lots of options to choose from WARNING ⚠️ not all is vegan! Once in a while I come across a plate that is vegetarian so make sure to read labels. They teach classes so to any new or experienced vegans it's a great option to learn new and delicious recipes (it's where I learned to do seitan meat) main downside: would love it to be pure vegan, and it's not that big of a place so there may be a line

You can always tell a good place when it’s busy..!! Out of the whole buffet there were only 3 or 4 things not vegan, loads of salad, I had a spicy seitan main which was delicious also a range of deserts and an infused water of the day all included in a very cheap $159 mx

There was a bit of miscommunication with the staff as I don't speak Spanish. There was one person on staff who spoke english. They said that everything on the menu was vegan except for the eggs, and they could be replaced with tofu. However he misspoke here as you have to especially request vegan items. So when I ordered, I received vegetarian items covered in cheese (I could tell from the stretch of the cheese it was not vegan). Didn't end up eating much except for the salad on the side

De vez en cuando ofrecen talleres de cocina vegetariana y te ofrecen con facilidad variaciones veganizados.

Worth the price - Edit
For 139pesos you can eat as much as you want and it's all worth in my opinion. Lots of fresh veggies and salads, it's mostly vegan, the quesadillas are amazing (with veg chorizo or mushrooms) and the majority of desserts were also vegan.

Went in for breakfast one morning. Buffet wasn't setup yet but ordered off the menu and everything was awesome. Been in Mexico awhile and obviously have eaten lots of tacos and gf said these were the best ones yet. I got chilaquiles which were made vegan for me with half rojo and Verde. Server was super nice spoke English with us. Coffee was also great and got a vegan donut for dessert. This places rocks.

Got a wonderful burrito here with seitan, great service and nice indoor seating area. Non vegan items can often easily be made vegan. Gets four stars only because they are not completely vegan and still serve egg/cheese.

Superb Taco Marroqui - Edit
This place was a vegetarian buffet restaurant before Covid 19. This lovely garden restaurant has transformed into menu order restaurant, and the food is wonderful. I ordered the Taco Marroqui and a Licuido Super Power to drink. The tacos the best dish I have eaten in this city. It is a combo of a burrito, a taco and an enchilada with amazing flavors. The drink was creamy and smooth. Chocolatey fresh.

Probably the best buffet in the city. Lots of options and they also have in the area where they will make you vegetarian or vegan pizza or quesadilla. I was here three times. Just had a small issue, finding a piece of metal, the kind you'd find on steel wool, on one of the beets, but I imagine that was a fluke. They also have a nice little shop where you can buy refrigerated or shelf-stable foods and body products. I bought some protein powders there and some toasted sugar free chocolate. Overall it's very good.
