Serves meat, vegan options available. Mexican fast food chain founded 1993 in the US and now operates outlets across North America and several more overseas. Set up is assembly line style where you could customize your order of tacos, burrito, or burrito bowl, and request no cheese or sour cream. Offers a savory sofritas filling that's made from soy protein, and some locations offer Impossible meat. Rice, beans, guacamole are vegan. In early-2019 added a pre-configured vegan bowl which includes the sofritas in addition to other fillings like guacamole.

I appreciate Chipotle for being an option for vegans in what some would call a vegan desert.
Read moreBut this visit to Chipotle has pushed me to the next level of veganism. As I watched my sandwich being made on the same counter as previously made meat sandwiches with bits and juices scattered about I began to lose my appetite. Later when trying to eat the sandwich I couldn’t get those images out of my head and ended up tossing the sandwich before finishing.
I have always struggled with feeling like a burden to service workers and not wanting to cause them more work or come off as a nuisance, so I will likely avoid places like Chipotle in the future unless it’s an emergency. Then I’ll have to get over myself and politely ask for the counter to be wiped down.
Pros: It’s an option in a place with very few.
Cons: There’s a lot of meat being tossed around
