Cafe for prebooked groups only, don’t waste time - Edit
After climbing steep hill with a hungry 4 year old, we walked into an empty cafe to be told they’re not a cafe anymore. Huge disappointment.

Lovely accommodation - Edit
I’ve been staying here for years. The accommodation is comfortable, eco friendly and beautiful. There’s even a cat. Cafe is vegetarian with plenty of vegan options. You can visit the educational sites and do the quarry trail. Dog friendly

Lovely lunch in a wonderful place. It feels like a little oasis. Up in the funicular and a short walk to the cafe, serving delicious, hot vegan food, very welcome on a cold wet day in October.

Always fantastic - Edit
Can not say enough about how much love this place. It always reminds me of the vegan places we used to go to as a child, but with more uptown date food (which is a huge compliment). Its in my top 5 all time places to eat.

Good food - Edit
I've been here twice now, once as a vegetarian and the second time as a Vegan. It's partly C.A.T.'s influence that converted me 😊.

Beautiful - Edit
Lovely place, lovely people and exceptional food. Very interesting colourful salads, amazing soups. Large veggie and vegan menu - I think that most of the veggie menu could be veganised as they had vegan yoghurt, cheese and cream. A vegan pizza had just come out of the oven when we arrived. Very good range of drinks - they even have vegan squirty cream for the hot chocolate. Well behaved dogs welcomed. Wholefood shop a few doors down. Heaven.

Great Vegan Food - Edit
This cafe is in quite a secluded location, so was happy to find it when passing through. I asked nicely and didn't have to pay the entry to the C.A.T if just visiting the cafe.
Read moreThere were loads of vegan hot food options as well as lovely cake. The chef was really friendly and helpful in finding the best vegan stuff on offer there. The food itself was delicious, including just out of the oven bread, everything was very fresh and great flavours.

Best vegan/veggie cafe in Wales - Edit
I've eaten here many times and the food never disappoints. For vegans the food on offer is amazing, I've had a range of food including soups, pizza, curries, pasta dishes, moussaka etc. The home made sundried tomatoe focaccia is the best I've ever had. The chefs are masters at creating interesting flavours, often mixing citrus, sweet and sour or toasted seeds and nuts.
Read moreMichael one of the head chefs is a master of vegan cookery and creates vegan food you unlikely to have seen anywhere else, like vegan Meringue or vegan chocolate mouse.
For Coeliac there are always options available.
If you live in the SY20 post code you don't have to pay the CAT entry fee.
The CAT cafe is open from 10 - 4 daily, with hot food available from 12 - 3.
Pros: Amazing food, Range of vegan options, Interesting flavours
Cons: Not open evenings, Not open for breakfast, If you live outside SY20, you have to pay the site

Vegetarian / Vegan Café within C.A.T. Machynlleth - Edit
We visited on 5th July 2014. All offerings in the café are vegetarian and an increasing number are vegan. The vegan chef has the aim of making the café “mostly vegan”. The vegan food was excellent. (Visitors are also allowed to eat their own food in the café, as long as it’s vegetarian or vegan!)
Read moreAs the café is within the grounds of the “Centre for Alternative Technology”, you may have to pay the admission fee before you can reach the café. However, CAT is also well worth a visit.
Pros: Excellent vegan food, Vegan chef is passionate about veganism, Good value for money
Cons: Accessable only from within CAT
