A 3,5 out of 5

Really nice food, but only few vegan options. Would have given 3,5-4 stars, if out of five, but due to them offering meat it’s a three out of four. They offered to veganise the 3 course menue of the day to a soup, toast and ice cream. Especially the toast and bagel we got tasted lovely.

Pros: Offered to veganise vegetarian options, Can read books while waiting for meal, Very tasty toast and bagels

Cons: Limited options, Expensive for the portion size, 1,2€ for soy instead of cows milk in coffee

Good vegan option

Cozy and quiet place where to relax, read and eat good food.
This restaurant isn’t vegan but has options for all kind of meals.
I don’t know if in Belgium the prices are normally high but I found this place a little bit expensive.
I’d come back anyway

Pros: Vegan option, Friendly staff, Quiet and cozy

Cons: A little bit expensive

Limited vegan options: a salad and a toast

I had been wanting to visit this place for years, but since they didn't have a lot of vegan options years ago, I kept postponing.
Going by positive reviews here (mentioning several vegan options) we decided to give it a go and called to make a reservation for lunch (which is advised, they are often full).

We were really disappointed to only see one vegan option mentioned on the menu: a vegan salad with couscous, olives, cucumber, tomatoes and chickpeas (18,50€).
Next to that you can order a toast with mashed avocado and add some greens as topping (16,50€).
(in retrospect: I think it is adviced to double check on the bread and whether it's vegan).

We inquired whether there were any vegan 'day suggestions', but the waitress said the day suggestions are never vegan.

The salad and toast were fine, but really overpriced and not culinairy exciting. Nothing on the table (like sauce, oil or herbs) to spice things up a bit.

Hope they will add more vegan options in the future, or add some items like tofu, seitan, tempeh or such to the dishes, and be more attentive to vegans. Eg despite having asked for everything vegan, we got non-vegan cookies with the drinks.

Ground floor is accessible (narrow doorway though and small step to get in). Toilets are upstairs - didn't see an accessible toilet.
Relaxed atmosphere, modern interior, surrounded by plenty books. Uncomfu chairs though.

There's a nice outdoor terrace at the back.

Cons: limited vegan options

Cozy

I lived around the corner for so long but never popped in untill this weekend. I really like the vibe and from now on they will see me there more often. The music are the songs i mostly put into my ears when i read/write. We just came there to drink and, Oh that chai latte with chili and lavender, MY FAVOURITE. Really cozy inside. Like a place where you feel home.

Pros: good price, Very cozy , good vibe

So nice and tasty!!!

The ambiance was perfect, I love books and its "habitat", but we were in a hurry cuz we were in a city tour from Brussels and we escaped to eat there. We got the XL mushroom toast with pesto and a small salad, and was SO GOOD! A real dream 🥰 so nice when omnivore places make vegan stuff with as much as love as vegan places do. We prefer going to fully vegan places, but all of them were far away at the moment when the tour gave us time to lunch, so we decided to give it a try, and no regrets!!! The staff is also friendly and fast!!! Recommended!!!

Cons: expensive, omnivore

Food for the body, books for the mind!

A late breakfast at this popular spot. We had to wait to be seated, but was worth it.

I had a delicious avocado and tomato toasted GF panini and decent coffee. Though not that many options.

Pros: Friendly staff, Nice vibe, Decent GF baguette

Cons: It’s busy

Fab avo on toast

Had avo and tomato on toast for breakfast, it was delicious and a generous sized portion. They do good decaf coffee too. Reasonably priced for Bruges and a lovely chilled atmosphere. Would give it 5* but the app won’t let me because it isn’t a veggie restaurant!

Lovely Brunch Spot

Book themed space made for a really relaxing environment. Simple but delicious food. I had avocado on toast and a berry smoothie. Prices are no higher than the rest of Bruge.

Beautiful but pricey

Nice place, with a pretty library vintage style. I got the vegan mega-toast (roasted eggplant with pepper, tomatoes and greens), I loved it but I found it quite expensive. Service was lovely.

Perfect place to refuel and relax

As a vegan travelling with my meat eating boyfriend B&B was the perfect lunch. Relaxing, slightly off the main tourist route of Bruges and great service. Lots of veggie options and as they cook from fresh, alterations can be made. I had a Mediterranean cous cous Salad with complimentary olives and bread on The side and partner had a cream cheese and salmon toasty (mega-toast). Books and Brunch is Worth a visit, wish we’d had longer to browse the bookshelves.

Pros: Good portion size , Cooked fresh , Can make alternative dishes

Cons: Quite pricey for salad (€18)

Books!!

Very nice quirky little place with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.
After a very cold boat trip a vegan friendly minestrone soup was most welcome. I was a bit worried that I was asked if I wanted parmesan on top so avoided the spread that came with the roll incase it was butter. My boyfriend got avocado on sourdough and enjoyed his. Nice decor and tons of books :)

Pros: lots of veg options, cosy

Cons: meat options , expensive

Good options but overpriced

This place has plenty of positive Trip Advisor reviews but we felt it was really overpriced for what it was, and the quality of the food was a let down. Cool and trendy book-themed interior.

Lovely place

This second-hand bookstore, hidden in a lovely small street in Bruges has some great Vegan options. They told me that they will have a new menu next week with even more vegan breakfast and lunch.
They didn't know that they are on Happy Cow and were pleasantly surprised.
Don't forget to look at all the books they have and you can buy.

Pros: Quiet, Free WiFi, Very friendly people
