Everything at Bonboon is wonderful. You can opt for five or four courses (and choose which one you skip) and optionally have a wine or tea pairing. The dishes are usually fantastic (creative, tasty, beautifully presented) and the wines too. Service is excellent.

Gisteravond zalig en gezellig gegeten bij Bonboon. Van amuse tot aan het dessert alive en goed gecombineerde gerechten gegeten. Echt fine dining, en dat is als vegan nog wel eens zoeken, maar hier dus zeker gevonden.

This place is really nice when you want to go out for a classy dinner. The flavours and textures are surprising and they use some ingredients I normally don’t use. They also offer vegan cocktails, which are high-class and tasty. The only downside is that the dishes are low in protein.

Afgelopen vrijdag 5 gangen gegeten. Het begon top met een heerlijke amuse. Ook het voorgerecht was super. De tweede gang was een ravioli, erg lekker maar presentatie wel wat saai. Het hoofdgerecht was goed van smaak, alleen de portionering echt belachelijk weinig. Stond niet in verhouding tot de rest. Ook erg jammer dat je geen lepel erbij kreeg om de jus goed te kunnen eten. Het pre dessert was saai in smaak en opmaak. Idem voor het dessert. Zonder de crème enorm droog. Waar het goed begon eindigde het toch wel met een deceptie. Toen we aangaven bij de bediening dat we de portionering van het hoofdgerecht belachelijk vonden werd er helemaal niks mee gedaan. Lekker brood op tafel? Nee hier niet. Stond ook niet op de kaart.

The food was beautifully presented and tasty. The service was excellent and it really felt like a premium service. We weren't incredibly full after the meal but it was just about enough. The main downside was the lack of protein.

We went here to celebrate my birthday so really hoped it would be on point. Unfortunately two of the five dishes (kroketje? and pre-dessert entree) were incredibly salty. We didn't bother saying anything because we expect this was their intention as the dishes are made in bulk...so all the same. We do love salt but even for us, these 2 dishes were a big miss. We ate it all though since at the price of 10 or so euros per each plate we didn't want to waste our money. Also I think that serving cooked radicchio was a strange choice since it becomes quite chewy, meaning that we chewed forever but it never broke down. Also would have been nice to have the curry dish served with even a tiny piece of bread or ideally a tiny bit of rice so most of the sauce does not go to waste. Lastly, we left starving. A pity.

We hadden een heerlijk 4-gangen diner op een maandagavond.
Read moreAlle gerechten zagen er prachtig uit en smaakten heerlijk. Zeer goed samengesteld en niet de gangbare gerechten, maar erg creatief.
We hadden bij elk gerecht een bijpassende (warme) thee wat ons zeer goed bevallen is. Weer eens iets anders dan wijn en een goed alternatief als je een keer geen alcohol wilt drinken.
Het restaurant zelf was erg smaakvol ingericht. De bediening was vriendelijk en zeer capabel. Helaas spraken ze geen Nederlands (ook niet een paar standaard zinnen), maar dat schijnt normaal te zijn in Amsterdam.
Al met al een aanrader voor een gezellig avondje uit!

Every dish surprised us with the wine. High dining in a real beautiful restaurant with great service and open kitchen.
It feels calm, natural and lovely.
Btw they have a big menu with drinks and also a tea pairing!! Must do!
Also a place with friends to enjoy everything.

Read moreThey were all yummy. Portions were indeed not large but altogether they make for a decent meal, in my opinion.
I don't know how to put it well; but the ingredients are somehow «normal» (all rather straightforward vegetables, maybe except for romanesco but still). But that's not a bad thing.
Overall, I was satisfied with my dinner.
The only thing that I didn't much appreciate is the sloooooow service. Having to wait 20 minutes between two dishes is too much. It's as if they are doing that so that you get more drinks while waiting (but that's just me speculating).
Maybe that's alright for most people; but if you don't want to stay 2 hours, maybe you'd better let them know upon arrival.

I was already a fan of Bonboon at their old very small restaurant, and the new location has really proven to be a huge upgrade! Middle of Amsterdam, much more room, great interior and even better food. The staff remains friendly as usual :)
