Tasty pasta and risotto!

We enjoyed the food and loved the fact they have a kid’s menu and a separate Indian menu.

Also, very reasonable price. Very chill dining environment facing the street. Overall, it is a good place to come when you have a mix of guests who want different things. Especially friendly for low-spice tolerance people.

Amazing tasting menu

My friends wanted to have course dining experience and I’m so grateful the restaurant could accommodate to my vegan needs. It was delicious, the plating was nice and the timing was perfect. Vegan and not vegan dishes (for my friends) were served at the same time so we didn't have to wait for each other. I'm super happy about this restaurant.

Pros: Plant based course menu, Interesting plating, Fast service

Cons: The interior could be upgraded

Cute and full of (original) vegan options

Ordered the Cauliflower Manchurian, Chickpea Salad, Thai Red Curry and Chocolate Lava With Ice Cream.
My preference goes to the first two dishes, both delicious. The curry was good, but, to me, curries are seldom exciting... The dessert was ok, but would probably disappoint lava cakes amateurs.

The restaurant is cute, located in a nice environment, and the staff is helpful and can provide interesting conversations at times.

I'll visit again should the opportunity arise.

Pros: Exciting vegan options, Cute restaurant

Recommended!

There are a lot of vegan and gluten free options. The owner is super nice and him and his wife are really passionate about food. The gluten free spring rolls were amazing #Veganuary

Pros: You can get anything veganized

Lovely experience

I've eaten here twice and both times had lovely experiences. The ala-carte menu has vegan options all clearly marked. The staff were able to guide us on what were the vegan options at their buffet. The vegan Carbonara was really good!

Order A Side...You'll Need It!

Ran by the same owners as Ganga Cafe, Barat offers a much larger menu with more of a Med-feel. There are options here that you simply won't get in vegetarian-form anywhere else around KL.
The inside is really clean and pleasant and food is served pretty promptly. The dishes we had were tasty. However, you have to be careful with the menu. The main dishes often don't come with any sides or garnishes at all. Would recommend ordering a couple of items from their tapas menu to go with your main course. We could have done with knowing this!
Excellent place worth visiting!

Pros: Unique vegetarian options, Variety of prices on the menu to suit all, Children's menu is actually kid-friendly

Cons: Menu not explained properly, Need to order multiple items to make a meal

Tasting menu

We had the tasting menu and the dishes vary from very tasty to medium. Some of the dishes were a little boring.

Pros: Good service

Cons: Taste not as good as expected

Amazing vegan options!

I’ve been here several times now and will continue to visit them whenever I can. If you’re not in a rush, order 2-3 days ahead and they can make vegan cheese balls and cheese stuffed peppers. Perfection!

Service: Very friendly and as far as I can tell, all staff know what “vegan” entails. Proactive with suggestions as to what can be veganized! Chef Lingesh seems to always be up for experimenting and is very passionate about supporting local (Farm-to-Table,...)

Food: As mentioned above, if you have a few days before your visit, then definitely call ahead. If you don’t, they’ll be able to veganize several dishes for you on the spot. (Ginger pumpkin soup and Pistachio Carbonara are my absolute suggestions!)

Atmosphere/surroundings: Very relaxed vibe, acoustic background music, a few outdoor seating options!

Hygiene: Very clean, kitchen seems very clean (from what you can see when you walk into the restaurant). Have not yet visited the restrooms.

Parking: They now have FREE valet parking for both lunch AND dinner shifts!

Side note! They have now opened KL’s first vegan bar upstairs. Vegan afterwork drinkies? Yes, please!

Pros: Free valet parking,, Knowledgeable staff

Cons: closed between lunch and dinner

Wonderfully welcoming to vegans!

I had the pleasure of going to Barat for dinner last night, and it was wonderful.
The service was friendly, and my friends and I were made to feel very welcome. On hearing that all three of us were vegan, our server explained that all savoury dishes could be made vegan, which was a very pleasant surprise!
We opted to share some starters - a delicious pumpkin soup, watermelon gazpacho and the sun-dried tomato pesto (served on Japanese cucumber). Everything was delicious, and the soup portion size was particularly generous! For mains we had the patatas bravas burger, spiced couscous and pistachio carbonara (all made vegan - the carbonara was excellent, one of the best vegan carbonaras I've had!).
I'm throughly looking forward to going back (and booking a few days in advance so that I can enjoy some of their homemade vegan cheese!). The 11 course degustation menu looked incredible, too

Update:
I have since tried the degustation menu (complete with vegan cheese) and it was excellent! The cheese balls with pineapple jam were incredible and patatas bravas dish with a cheese-stuffed pepper was delicious - I would very happily order a large plate of each (oh and the pistachio carbonara). RM 125 for 11 dishes - good value for a special occasion.
