Friendly, tasty, big serves, central - Edit
I really enjoyed the atmosphere in here, there was a really nice feel to all the staff.
Read moreI was hoping to to order from the 'lunch menu' I had seen online but I hadn't read properly that it is available on weekdays...so I will have to go back to try it next time!!
The bowl of dhal I had was absolutely delicious. Not huge so you may want to have something else as well. The other meals people were eating looked pretty big and what I saw looked really yummy.
Obviously I would prefer it if the place was totally vegan, or at least used less animal derived products and was clearer on the menu about what veganising something means...does it mean just taking out the dairy products, or does it mean substituting them with alternatives?
Pros: Friendly Staff, Good selection of choices, tasty and good serves, Central and clean
Cons: Could be more vegan focussed

This is one of my go-to spots when I want something healthier but delicious. I love their Caesar salad, home made veggie burger, vegan ravioli! The staff is super friendly.

Absolutely delicious vegan food.

I eat here all the time - Edit
For many years. So sorry I never wrote a review.
Read moreThe food is very good. Vegetarian with vegan options if requested. The Dal soup is the best!
Always get it. The neatloaf is available vegan - ask for the sweet sauce on the side. Many other menu items including salads and daily specials, but I go for the Dal every time. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxing. If you have the time, read some of the books by/about their guru. The location is a few blocks from the Symphony and Ballet/Opera.

THE best dal - Edit
The red lentil dal they serve daily is the best I've ever had. It is so good, it's difficult to order any of the other great stuff on the menu! I like getting a bowl with a salad, or the Red Lentil Bowl with the dal on top. I'm also a fan of the ravioli. I've not tried any of their fake meats -- I'm not opposed, I just usually get grilled tofu. It can get crowded, but if you are there before noon, you should be okay.

Favorite restaurant in SF - Edit
Ananda Fuara is my favorite restaurant in San Francisco. Without exception, every meal I’ve had there has been excellent. It’s a few blocks from my apartment and is THE best place to go in the city. The service is also excellent and it’s just a treasure. Highly recommended.

Favorite for friendly service and killer cake! - Edit
I love this place. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. The menu has a ton of lovely options from burgers and tacos to salads and vegetable dishes, but my favorite is the neat loaf!!! I usually get it with a side of veggies instead of potatoes because it's really filling. Or I eat half the portion, save the other half for lunch the next day and make room for dessert. They cakes are to die for! Chocolate anything is good of course, but then they have other delights like carrot cake and once a cardamom rose water cake. And they have "gelato" which tastes like ice cream to me. I once got a big slice of chocolate layer cake with a scope of vegan chocolate peanut butter oreo frozen delight on the side. It's an oasis next to Civic Center and I often go there before a show at the Billy Graham theater. Get a giant cookie to go and sneak it in!

Parking is a pain but the food was well worth it. Took my husband who is a meat eater and we both got different vegetarian meals. Both were delicious! We were eating off of each other’s plates. Took home a piece of cake which I refused to share :-)

Good food - Edit
When I was there the building was undergoing a renovation, but it was not difficult to find. The starters are yummy, especially the vegan quesadilla and the vegan nuggets. I also ordered the beyond burger and it was good.

Many vegan options. Lovely serene atmosphere. Pleasant staff. The Neatloaf can be made vegan and is delicious. A good choice for dinner before the opera or a concert, or a weekend brunch. They give a 10% discount for San Francisco Vegetarian Society members.

Great Veg/Vegan option MidMarket/Civic Center - Edit
As relatively new committed Vegans, Sunday Brunch had become a challenge, especially when going out with non-Vegan friends.
Read moreAnanda Fuara is our new go to brunch place. It has plenty of options for both Vegans and Vegetarians.
I'd ignore the reviews criticizing the place because it isn't 'Vegan' enough. Just about every item can be made Vegan if requested. I guess the folks who make that compliant only go out to eat with Vegans. We think a place like this is perfect for 'easing' folks into a Vegan diet.
Pros: Great vibe, food, and service. , Twitter, Dolby, and Uber's headquarters are across, so customer mix is quite interesting during the we
Cons: Civic Center neighborhood is a bit sketchy but not, dangerous

Best vegan food I've had! - Edit
Ananda Fuara is by far my favorite veg-friendly restaurant in the Bay Area! I'd give it more than five stars if I could. Every menu item I've had has been absolutely incredible. I enjoyed the spinach artichoke ravioli on my first visit and the vegan-style neatloaf on my second, both of which were so filling and delicious! The chocolate, banana chocolate chip, and carrot cakes are AMAZING, and all vegan! Definitely the best vegan desserts I've ever had. Highly recommend. I'll be back ASAP!

convenient, pretty good - Edit
The location is very convenient for me, so I often pick up meals. The food can be prepared vegan, and is wholesome and tasty. It's not the fanciest or in highest echelons of veggie restaurants, but good.

One of my Favorites in SF out of 3 in SF - Edit
I love the variety of food they serve here. Unfortunately i don't get to go as often as I like to this restaurant, but i am never disappointed. This last time we loved the Portobello Quesadilla…. They offer such a variety of dishes (including daily specials) that everyone can be pleased… everything from down home, mexican, Italian and Indian. Only downside of this restaurant is if you are driving a car it can be a little difficult to park. but i try to go at times that there would be parking open nearby...
