Great casual dining

This is a great place to kick back, order some frozen flavored moonshine and relax! The blackened tofu sandwich was great!! The home made pickles were delicious. It's got a couple of vegan friendly options, so it's a great place to kick back with your carnivorous friends.

I just came back from my first visit. The lentil soup is to die for -- large portion, huge chunks of potatos, fresh parsley -- great for a cold day. Also had a fabulous hot wrap. The best part of the wrap is that the contents and bread are hot and the vegetables are fresh and crunchy. There were lots of vegetarian and vegan options. I'll definitely be back.

We arrived to a one-hour wait on a Saturday night. We were a bigger party, so we ended up seated outside. The wait staff was hurried, but the food was good. Lots of good vegan options. I had the sweet potato hummus with fresh veggies. My other vegan friend had an amazing roasted portabella sandwich with a delicious mango chutney. It's too bad the inside of the restaurant is so small. My advice -- GO EARLY on a weekend.

Fabulous for foodies

Joia is unlike any vegetarian restaurant I have ever visited. At lunch, they have a buffet in their cafe area. Since I'm a vegan, the buffet wasn't the best choice for me, but the manager suggested I try the mushroom risotto -- it was heaven!! Risotto and a bottle of water were 10 euros. I then made dinner reservations for that evening. They have a sampler menu with five, eight or fourteen courses on the dinner menu. Since I was solo, I went with the five course meal. The sommelier helped select a wine that was fabulous and biodynamic. Each dish was a work of art. The sauces were amazing. They made each dish vegan, even though their specialty was vegetarian. I had an amuse bouche of avacado puree, a pasta dish, a coconut soup with tofu, and desert was an amazing chocolate fudge-like square. Words do not do the food justice. It was so good, I had dinner there the following evening. With the exception of one dish, I had a completely different sample. This restaurant is worthy of any foodie's attention. The service was fabulous and very friendly. So much goes into presentation that Joia needs to be experienced to be understood. I highly recommend this, especially since most of my vegan eating in Italy consisted of vegetable soups and pastas. Joia was a delight!!

Best Thai food ever

I love L'Thai. There are two locations, and both are very helpful when ordering. The Lawrenceville Hwy location is a little less fancy, but the food is just as good. I love the green curry with tofu. They confirmed with me that it is dairy-free. They will also accommodate any allergies and vary the spice level to one's taste. I've recently moved out of Atlanta, and I miss this place the most. I encourage you to try it.

I loved the food and would definitely go back. The Mushroom Pate was to die for. I was also happy with the wine list. We sat outside because the dining room is a bit tight. The have a few tables on the sidewalk. I would definitely make reservations before going. People were turned away on a Thursday night around 8pm. Some reviews said it was pricey, but I found it comparable to other Parisian experiences.

I got the Spinach and Artichoke dip and Pad Thai entree at Portia's. Both were fresh and tasty. I will definitely be back for the Pad Thai, and next time I'm going to try one of the soups on the menu. The service was friendly and efficient. I'm glad to find this Clintonville gem!

Very friendly and lots of options

This is a small restaurant with a lot of heart. The service is very enthusiastic and friendly. I think they are very proud of their food. Some of the options are very good like the vegan dumplings, edamame, and spicy tofu with black bean sauce. I was less impressed with the vegan General's Chicken. I prefer places that use more of a "faux" meat than just fried breaded tofu. I recommend take out over dining in.
