Good comfort food!

Got the platter that came with fried tofu, Mac and cheese, drumsticks, kale salad, and biscuits! A hefty amount of food for $15! (before tax and tip)

Go-to North Seattle Vegan

We've been regular customers of Wayward Vegan Cafe for years and have been so grateful that they've stayed open on a take-out basis during the pandemic.

The items we've gotten have been uniformly of a high quality and are in the vein of comfort food: we typically order at least one thing off of the breakfast menu--our most-frequently ordered item is the Tots-in-a-Blanket Burrito, and if that isn't the very definition of comfort food, I don't know what is.

Prices are reasonable but not super cheap, but you get a good amount of food with each dish (maybe a positive or a negative--I probably shouldn't always eat til I'm full, but I do whenever I get Wayward).

I lament the absence from the menu of the Seitan Philly Cheesesteak--please bring this back!

Pros: friendly staff, terrific variety of comfort food

Cons: limited hours post-pandemic

Delicious Vegan Food

I tried the Buffalo wings, mozzarella wedges & the strawberries and cream French toast. The wings were so good with the house made ranch. Would absolutely eat here again.

Pros: All vegan food

Cons: Pricey

Hit or Miss

I've been to wayward dozens of times, sometimes my meal is FANTASTIC and other times it's barely edible. I've noticed that since they started doing takeout only orders their quality has significantly dropped. I recently got their Garden Benedict and the tofu was cold, pesto was way too oily and flavorless and the side of kale was barely cooked. However, when they still had dine in their sandwiches were amazing and the california crunchwrap was my personal favorite menu item. I just hope that they get back to the same quality they used to be, because until they do I won't be returning.

Pros: Tons of options, CRUNCHWRAPS!!!

Cons: Takeout Only, Lower quality

Awesome awesome!

To-go only right now but that doesn’t stop them from making awesome foodstuffs! Mmm mmm good!! My friend’s (NOT VEGAN 😅) fork BROKE when he used it (very fragile :: both the fork and my friend’s heart 💔)! Would come back in a heartbeat!

Pros: Delish!

Cons: Forks break, A little greasy and fatty foods!

So good, we ate here like 5 times while we were in town!

This place is bomb! The menu is huge. We tried a ton of stuff and loved it all. The people are very friendly and they are great about covid safety measures! So glad we found this spot while visiting Seattle.

Pros: All vegan, Delicious, Tons of options

Cons: parking

WVC is the best food in town!

Always delicious comfort food at it's finest, Wayward Vegan Cafe is Seattle's best spot for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Even delivery, WVC is sure to satisfy with familiar and reliable dishes. My favorites are the club sandwich (omg, that club!), biscuits and gravy, and the WVC platter. We love Wayward Vegan Cafe!

Pros: Reliable and affordable, Comfort food, Familiar flavors

Cons: There needs to be a WVC in every town!

When you need comfort food

I've eaten here every time I am in Seattle and am updating for their takeout-only service. Their food is best eaten in your car as hot, fried food is always best fresh. They serve large portions and I'm always up for leftovers. I like that they have a million ways to modify your order on their system. If you want to bring more joy to your life, upgrade to stuffed hashbrowns.
If you like spice, bring your own hot sauce. You will need to order cutlery (it's free) and I'm a fan of that because I always have my own fork.
When they were open it was hit/miss for service but my recent interactions have been about 30 seconds so I can't attest.
The menu is huge and a lot sounds the same so it can be hard to decide.

Pros: Huge menu-lots of options, Large portions, Stuffed hashbrowns

Try it

some of the best vegan food i've ever had, the pancakes are insane you have to try them. If you're in the area definitely stop by and try something out! They have a lot of options so you're bound to find something you like 🥰

Pros: lots of options, allergy friendly options

Extraordinarily bland

This is seriously some of the most bland food I've ever had in my life. Most of the food I've had in Seattle (with the exception of some excellent Thai places) has verged on tastelessness, but this place was the worst. The Tofuevos Rancheros was poorly cooked and soggy, with the most bland enchilada sauce I've ever encountered. The Mac Attack is just inexplicable - why would you wrap it in a tortilla? How is it possible to make such tasteless barbecue sauce? I know this review sounds repetitive, but ugh this place is the definition of overrated. Avoid.

All Day Vegan Breakfast 😍

Partner and I are in the area briefly and wanted to try this place out. Last time we were out this way, they were closed for renovations so we couldn't.

Unfortunately, it was not clear to us that they were only doing carryout, no dine in. It was about a 40 minute drive to get to it, and that was a bummer to discover. So we put in an online order outside the building and waited, and figured we would eat in the car or something. Thankfully, we found somewhere nearby to eat.

The whole menu is 100% vegan with a wide variety of dishes, from breakfast to dinner fare. Nice not to have to worry about what we can order and what we can't. They have online ordering, and detailed online ordering at that, which is big points for us. Parking is street parking, though there is a nearby Park n Ride and Park n Pool.

Whether at home or while traveling, getting vegan breakfast is ALWAYS an issue or ordeal. But the fact that this place is slinging up breakfast from 9a until sometime in the evening is amazing. Seattle, you have it better than a lot of places.

Prices and corresponding portions were good. In fact, most of the food was delicious. The tempeh bacon was weird - crunchy and sort of shaped like bacon, but nothing else about it seemed like bacon. But hey, not everything can be perfect.

The Good Morning Crunchwrap and the Belgian Benedict were great. The pancake was good and the tofu scramble too - plenty of curry and turmeric, as expected. I didn't get to try the Freebird personally but I was told it was pretty good, the texture a little off but flavorful.

Honestly, overall we were impressed with the food. The experience, circumstances included, wasn't perfect but we are still giving this a solid four stars. We look forward to ordering from here again, trying more of the menu, and figuring out where their strengths lie.

Pros: All vegan, Vegan breakfast all day, Great online ordering

Cons: Weird bacon, Didn't know we couldn't dine in, don't live close

Disappointment

The beef fried steak had a weird texture inside and out. The corn was cold, potatoes were crusted on top(old) and instant box made. The mac and cheese was old, the noodles were hard and flavorless. The gravy made it tolerable.

Pros: Extensive menu

Cons: Poor food preparation

Best vegan breakfast in town

Honestly since moving to Seattle Wayward has proven itself to be the most reliably tasty vegan comfort food and the best breakfast around. They have a huge menu, very quickly prepared tasty food with generous portions, wonderful rustic flavors. Be sure to try the chicken and waffles!

Pros: amazing food, reasonable prices, lots of options

Cons: Not yet open for dine-in (as of Sept 2021)

Best vegan comfort food in Seattle

Wayward Vegan Cafe is the best comfort food restaurant for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and any occasion. Their menu is so extensive, and you might have trouble picking what to eat because everything is so good! That's literally the only "downside". The vibe of the place is very fun and will keep you coming back for more. I love the huge pancakes for breakfast with curried tofu and tempeh bacon. Last time I was there they advertised "no fur" which I thought was great since most vegan restaurants don't explicitly state other crucial aspects to the message of veganism.

Good food with decent prices

Great spot to have a morally superior breakfast. The food is really good and so is the ambience. There's usually some waiting time to be seated.

woah😍

thee most extensive vegan menu i’ve ever seen! it was hard to choose what to get.🙀 we ended with the presto pesto & infamous bowl. soso delishhh (even though we got it delivered and it wasn’t super hot) comfort food to tha max. 💚 big portions, split between three of us and had leftover.

august 2021 they only do takeout and delivery, no dine-in. worth it if you’re vegan in the area 😇 will be back🤞🏼

Pros: so many options!, big portions

Seattle Treasure

Food was highly recommended by friends when mentioning visiting Washington. Glad I went the day we landed because they were closed the rest of the time I was in town. Delicious food. Even my non vegan friends enjoyed it. Pancakes are huge. Tons of options for everyone. Can’t wait to eat here again my next visit.

Pros: Vegan , Breakfast, lunch, and dinner options

Wildcat

I’ve been wanting to try this place forever and was finally in town to give it a go. The menu is enormous but I figured anything I ordered would probably be good. I knew I wanted breakfast so that helped narrow it down a little. I ordered the Wildcat and it was excellent. A pancake folded around sausage, ham, and tofu scramble and sprinkled with hickory bits that gave it a somewhat smoky flavor. It came with a side of crispy hash browns. Then I smothered it with syrup. I’d definitely come back here again.

Pros: Extensive menu, Large portions

bit disappointed

based on the reviews here I expected the food to be really mind-blowing, but it was a bit of a letdown to be honest. I had the Chico melt and husband had the Mac attack (I think that was the name?) and I preferred my sandwich by far, but still felt like we paid a bit too much for both. the fried mozz was pretty impressive in terms of how much it tasted like real mozzarella, but it still wasn't super tasty. the menu was also incredibly overwhelming. I would go again, but I'd probably ask the staff for their recommendations next time. still closed for dine-in as of Aug 2021.

Come hungry!

This was one of the best brunches we’ve ever had! The breakfast club and wildcat were both huge packed with flavor. You can substitute fruit for hashbrowns with no up charge. The house made tempeh bacon was one of the best we’ve had.

Closed....so disappointing

We're from Kansas City and so we're here visiting in Seattle. Most of these restaurants are closed as is this one but wasn't informed of info. Drove from our hotel to get breakfast just to get here and find they're closed til the 16th which is what the sign stated on door...smh....not sure we're ever coming back to Washington. Not too friendly..

Really Good but Pricey

Travelled to Sea-Tac and found this place on HappyCow. No indoor dining so had to order to go. Was really delicious but the bill was hefty for 2 sandwiches and some mozz sticks!

Delicious Vegan Comfort Food

We really enjoyed this place! Delicious comfort foods like a vegan Club sandwich, the Albuquerque Crunchwrap, and their pasta dishes are nice too. I enjoyed this place the last time I was in Seattle (10 years ago!) and again the other day, and it is still excellent. They have an extensive vegan menu so I hope to come back a few times to try everything!😄 The staff was very friendly and helpful, and our order was perfect. We enjoyed this meal at Green Lake Park picnic tables. We visited in June 2021 and they were not open for dine-in.

You need this

Every time I have a friend or family come to visit I do the same thing. Hit this place up and tell them get anything (because everything on the menu is delicious) then take them to gasworks to eat. They fall in love with the city instantly. Lol

Seriously though don’t be scared to get anything because everything is delicious!

Pros: Good options, Everything is good, In a cool spot

Cons: A little expensive but worth every penny
