Omni restaurant. No longer vegan. - Edit
The owner has recently made an announcement that this restaurant will be adding meat, dairy, and eggs to the menu. Incredibly disappointing and disgusting for what was once a beacon in the Seattle vegan community and is now just another exploitative cash grab profiting from animal cruelty. I will never patronize this restaurant again.

This place was an ethics based vegan restaurant for 20 years or so. Now they serve dead animals. I won't be going back

No longer vegan. Never going back. - Edit
I've been here half a dozen times under the newest ownership, and the food was a bit bland, greasy, and very expensive. Now that the owners have decided to flip this place into serving chicken, saying it's a "hearty" alternative to the vegan selection which brought its customers in, I have no reason to support this place at all. All the Google reviews pointing out the hypocrisy have been pulled down. Why would I come here for mid, expensive food that doesn't even support my values?

this should only be one star as they are no longer vegan or even vegetarian. So upsetting.

Have nice memories of breakfasts at the old vegan Wayward. Now they're serving meat and trying to put a cheerful spin on it.

Miss the old Wayward - Edit
I used to go out of my way every trip to come to Wayward but since the new ownership most of what I loved about the restaurant is gone. The menu was completely overhauled and reduced in size, removing many of my favourite items. I typically would come here for breakfast or lunch. Last time we went the service was only okay despite it being almost empty and the food was not the best. Haven't gone back since. I'm sad one of my long time favourites ended up losing its appeal.

Boooo I heard that owner wasn’t a great person so I avoided this place but now there is reason to.

Started serving meat - Edit
Wayward had been a favorite vegan destination for me for over 20 years. No more. They were vegan for the animals until the current ownership group. “All vegan, all the time” was their ethos. The current owners have decided the way to get more business is to serve dead animals. I love a good Omni restaurant with solid vegan options, but I won’t support the destruction of a cherished vegan gathering place.

Update - no longer vegan as of 3/2026. - Edit
we love Wayward! So many delicious options. Albuquerque crunch wrap is my go-to but we've never not liked something. Service is somewhat lacking but that seems par for the course at lots of places.

Boycott. Went from being one of the best vegan restaurants to abandoning its principals. I will never go back.

I greatly miss the previous Wayward (University Way) - Edit
Far removed from it’s humble beginnings, gone through multiple iterations. This latest version is no longer vegan. I’m done with them.

I wonder how long the restaurant will be in business not that they have alienated their prior customer base?

no longer all vegan + no longer good quality - Edit
Honestly last few years the food has been bad in my opinion anyway. The coffee costs money to add milk and still manages to be bad. Now they aren’t all-vegan and not even all vegetarian. Can’t think of a single reason you would go here when sunlight is just a walk away.

Vegan Breakfast! - Edit
Wow. The omelettes are delicious! I mean I never had an omelette pre vegan so take that however you want but I was amazed. The texture and flavors were so lovely. Cinnamon bun was good as well. Slightly different flavor than I’m used to with my homemade ones but good nonetheless. And I’m thinking I’ll try a version of the breakfast Crunchwrap with the kids and see how it goes over. Always appreciate new ideas! Go here if you can!

Can I go walking not a bad thing in this place. The food is delicious, the portions are large, if that are happy, the lighting is wonderful, this is an iconic place that I always crave to go when I come to Seattle.

Not Bad, Just Not Great 🤷🏼♀️ - Edit
The food here was just okay overall — nothing too memorable, though the pasta dish with the bread was a nice touch. Maybe the experience would’ve been better if we had eaten everything fresh instead of takeout.

Delicious all vegan restaurant with breakfast, lunch, and dinner options - Edit
Really great vegan restaurant, have gone back multiple times. Great option for breakfast - love their omelettes.
Read moreBurgers and sandwiches are also really good, love the reuban, club sandwich, and TLTA.
Good amount of seating inside and plentiful street parking.
On our most recent trip got the pasta bolognese and infamous bowl. For the pasta I was expecting more a red sauce but it was actually more of a creamy tomato sauce, it was still tasty but not exactly what I was expecting. The infamous bowl is extremely rich and filling, the mashed potatoes and crispy chicken are really tasty.
Pros: Amazing all vegan restaurant

Great food, friendly service - Edit
All vegan classic diner food. Everything ordered was delicious. I highly recommend the Wayward Mexican Burrito and the Classic Waffle. The burrito is filled with Soyrizo, scrambled vegan eggs, avocado, onions, black beans, chimichurri, vegan sour cream, and cream cheese. Omni friends ordered the Good Morning Sandwich—toasted sourdough bread with cheddar cheeze, chipotle ranch, veggie sausage patty, tempeh bacon, vegan egg, and tomatoes—and were very impressed!

Late Breakfast - Edit
Great spot for all-day breakfast and Sunday brunch. We had a hash with faux eggs and steak tips plus a mushroom gravy omelet with vegan cream cheese, both served with crispy deep-fried hashbrowns. The strawberry matcha iced latte was a fun additional treat. Portions were huge, service was quick despite the busy crowd, and the steak tips were shockingly realistic in texture and flavor, having gluten-free faux meat was a rare bonus. If hearty American-style breakfasts are your thing, this place nails it. No surprise they’ve won Best of the PNW in the Seattle Times two years running.
