AWESOME!! - Edit
Great little joint in Lancaster! The food is great, the owners are great, the atmosphere is great. It's friendly and inviting. There's even an open library and lots of entertainment, support groups and discussions. Wish I lived closer!

Thankful The Seed exists - Edit
These are a great bunch of people! Ask about their special of the month, it's always fabulous. Prices are comparable to downtown Lancaster, and their ingredients are high quality.
Read morePros: Options available, Solely vegetarian (i.e. no meat avail), Most options can be made vegan
Cons: Location- somewhat hidden

Good Vegan Sandwiches - Edit
Restaurant has the feel of a college hangout, very casual. We had the tofu reuben with vegan cheese and the cuban seitan ham sandwich. Both were very good, as was the side bean soup. The cuban was perhaps a bit lightweight for a big apetite. The homemade kombucha was excellent. Vegan vanilla cupcakes and peanut butter cookies were very good. I suggest they add tempeh to their sandwich options, which can make a firmer reuben than tofu. My only criticism is they have a sign saying "no animal cruelty", but they serve chicken eggs and cows milk.

awesome! - Edit
I love this place! They have GF and vegan options and the dishes are very well thought of. I usually eat a meal there and buy 3 more to take home with me for the next day. It's a little hard to find cause it's inside a building so there are no signs from outside.

A hidden gem - Edit
I stopped in The Seed on my way home from a camping trip on a Sunday afternoon. It was a bit hard to find because of it's location. But once I got inside the atmosphere was really cool and there were not many other customers in there. The food was excellent as was the service. I wish it was closer to me because I would go there again.

Too busy being cool to actually make good food.. - Edit
As a vegan who has eaten at veg-restaurants all across the country, I have to say how terribly disappointed I am with The Seed. I was excited to finally have a vegetarian restaurant in town, but this was a let down.
Read moreThe menu is small and limited. I got the Cuban - which turned out to be 2 dry slabs of seitan on a white bread roll, sprayed with yellow mustard and topped with two pickle slices... Seriously? I could have made something better at home and not paid 10 dollars for it. Do something creative - don't just slap some fake meat on a piece of white bread with some chips on the side and call it a meal! This sort of behavior would get you run out of business in any major city like Philly, New York, Portland, or Chicago.
I'm giving them 2 stars, which is one star more than I would, because I like their "vibe" - it's hip, inclusive, employee-owned. But, despite its good intentions, The Seed needs to seriously reexamine their menu and culinary methods.

love this place! - Edit
Found this place back in the spring (2013) and have been a regular ever since. The food is creative and DELICIOUS! Prices are reasonable and you know everything you eat there is fresh. There isn't one the menu that I wouldn't eat. My favorite is the "Party Girl." If you're a vegan living in the Lancaster area this the only place in town that I'm aware of that is entirely vegetarian/vegan. I recommend this place every chance I get!

Excellent Menu! - Edit
I enjoyed my experience at the seed immensely! They have a nice menu with many options. The location may be a challenge to find, however it is worth it once you are inside! The environment is very laid back and the employees are very knowledgeable of their menu/ingredients. Will go back soon!
