Adequate when hungry - Edit
Definitely recommend you pack food before heading up to the park. Even their tofu cannot be made vegan as it is prepared in advance. They will not prepare to order even though it is quite expensive. 1000% recommend to see the lava but you don’t have to eat here to do so.

Vegan main dish - Edit
We dined at the restaurant inside Volcano house for a family gathering. And vegan food was requested far in advance.
Read moreThe mains dish, rice with tofu and vegetables, was good and tasty. Also a big portion.
The dessert was supposed to be ice cream, unfortunately it was not possible to get a vegan version for that. We still had to pay the full price.
The kid meal was pasta with red sauce. Very very big kid portion. First it came with cheese, but the replaced with a new one without cheese.
The place has a great view of the crater and the volcano (which you can enjoy you without the meal as well).

Delish food with a view - Edit
Eat yummy food while looking at volcano!
Read moreSeveral options for vegans, with the removal of egg/dairy and add tofu. I had the Somen salad, remove egg, sub lilikoi dressing and add tofu. Huge portion that filled my belly. Expensive but it is Hawaii and you have an incredible view.
Pros: Portions, Flavors, Vegan protein

The only dinner spot in the area - Edit
Although they seemed vegan-friendly on paper, there was only one actual vegan option: two small pieces of tofu (fried in the same oil used for fish), a bland salad, and what felt like a kilo of plain white rice. A typical touristy spot that doesn’t care about quality.

Good location - Edit
They only have one vegan option, but it’s pretty darn tasty! The tofu and rice really hit the spot after a long day of hiking. Make it vegan by saying you’d like extra rice instead of the potato/macaroni salad. The view from the restaurant is incredible!

Not many options but crispy tofu is delicious - Edit
We tried the crispy tofu with sweet soy and they replaced a scoop of macaroni salad with an extra scoop of white rice. It was very flavorful and filling! We got an extra side of the sauce too and was happy with that 50 cent option. They have edamame and salad with tofu options as well for vegans. They are familiar with veganism and specified it on the order. They also had non-dairy specialty cocktails that were yummy too. Not to mention the incredible view of the crater!
