Fun and super tasty

Super fun interior and excellent service! I was so excited to find such beautiful vegan bakery and veganized favorites of mine (such as banh mi sandwiches and Mac n cheese) in the same place! If this was any closer to my home town, I'd be a regular!!!

Pros: Food is AMAZING, not expensive... especially for the quality and qu

Good food, cool vibe

My girlfriend and I recently drove to W. Michigan from Buff, NY. We did something of a I-90 happy cow tour. I was a bit full after our Cleveland stop, but I'm glad I powered through it for a nice meal at the Lunch Room.

I had the Tempeh Reuben Salad, which I highly recommend. Really good sauce. The dessert case looked pretty tempting too, but as mentioned, I was too full.

I will definitely stop next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Pros: Cool Vibe, Great Food

Cons: Too far from my apartment.

A favorite

Our favorite vegan place to go in Ann Arbor. The menu is nicely labeled to show the gluten free options. Plenty of food dishes to choose from with good portion sizes. Bakery items are very good as well. Kids will sometimes not like their food but we are rarely disappointed.

Pros: Many choices, Excellent food, Friendly staff

Cons: Needs more seating, Needs more gluten free bakery options, Better kid friendly options

Love the cashew cheese sauce

The place was packed at lunch on a Monday. We luckily found a wonderful shady table outside in a quiet area filled with trees plants and art.

The service was beyond friendly and helpful. We ordered the Queso Burrito bowl, the Pad Thai and a Tempeh Reuben sandwich. The vegan cheese sauce was made with cashews and delicious. Everything was amazing and the servings were generous.
My husband loved his Rueben. He has tried dozens of vegan Ruebens and said this one was excellent with a spicy sauce. The bill came to $37 with tip for the four of us.

Pros: generous portions great price , cool atmosphere clean and arty, friendly service

Sooooo good!!

Just got into town and my in-laws took us here for dinner. Everything ok the menu looked amazing! Got the tempeh Reuben and tried my mother-in-law's queso burrito bowl, my wife's Mac and cheese, and my son's Pad Thai. All were incredible!! The pad Thai was too spicy for my kiddo (and I wouldn't have wanted a whole meal of it), but my sandwich was PERFECT!! I hope we get to go back at least one more time!

Fantastic all vegan restaurant

I had been wanting to try this place for a long time, and my first time did not disappoint. Most vegan restaurants I've been too typically have a menu mixed with hit or miss items, but everything I tasted here was delicious. I have tried lots of mac 'n' cheeses and left unsatisfied. I wanted to give this place a shot and I'm glad I did. This bowl of mac was so creamy, and the hint of butternut squash and pepper was very tasty. It didn't have an overpowering fake cheese taste that many recreations have. My boyfriend had the grilled queso burrito which was very flavorful, and another friend tried the special that smelled and tasted amazing. If you have room or would like to have a treat for later, get one... or few of their cookies!

Pros: variety of menu options, all vegan, friendly staff

One of the best vegan restaurants anywhere

I've been to quite a few vegan restaurants all over the United States, and this one - right in my backyard - is one of the best I've ever had.

Envrionment -
If you come here in May or June, nothing is quite as beautiful as the outdoor seating. it looks out into a quaint courtyard that bustles with local business with beautiful trees arching above. Even if you have to sit inside, the decorations are fun and trendy. A major downside of this restaurant is how popular it is. During dining hours it is almost always packed to overflowing, especially during the wintertime when outdoor seating is not viable. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive.

Food quality -
I've taken many omnivores (about 10) to this restaurant, and every single one has loved it and gone for a return visit. My favorite was a friend who refused to come with me for almost a whole year saying that vegan food was "gross." He finally came with his girlfriend and was shocked when he liked the food. I ran into him at the same restaurant about three weeks later.

I've tried almost everything on their menu, and I can honestly say almost all of it is all top-notch. Favorites of mine include the Tempeh Ruben, the Tempeh-Lettuce-Tomato sandwich, and the buffalo soy curl wrap. That doesn't even mention their breakfast menu which has loads of incredible options. If that wasn't enough, they have rotating specials every night, which change from week to week. They're almost always as good (and sometimes even better) than regular menu items. Whether you come on Tuesday for a taco platter or Thursday for the Indian special, you will be thrilled.

Baked Goods -
As if their incredible food wasn't enough, they make all of their baked goods and breads from scratch. While I've gotten one or two things I haven't liked from their bakery, (I've probably gotten at least 100 baked goods over the years), they are almost always incredible. Of particular interest are the monster cookies or the brownies. Honestly you could just skip dinner and fill up on desserts - you wouldn't be able to try them all

Pros: Excellent food with nightly specials, Wide variety of excellent baked goods, Friendly staff

charming, delicious and affordable!!

We had an amazing breakfast/brunch this Sunday and after the experience, we are sure to come back soon.
Food was great, we tried couple of bakeries ( we really loved the hazelnut chocolate bourbon and the vanilla rhubarb)
We also tried the Josh's bagel that was incredible and the iced tea lemon rooibos was just perfect to keep us fresh in the nice and shady back garden.
Staff was really friendly, as well as the owner and the price were very corrects.
We will come back for sure. To recommend to anyone in the area. Especially in summer. Thank you. Continue to spread delicious vegan exclusive cuisine in this country...

Pros: garden, staff , price/quality/variety food

wow, spectacular

Was in michigan for a weekend and found this restaurant using happycow. I visited on a sunday, so they offered brunch options. I had the hillbilly bowl with seitan, kale, and biscuits and a fruit cup. I also ordered a side of vegan chorizo. EVERYTHING WAS SPECTACULAR. Very friendly and inviting staff made the ordering process veey easy, and staff came to check on me and refill my drink in a timely manner. Highly recommended to anyonw in the area. If you go on a synday, next door they had an artisan market which was a nice bonus.

Pros: all vegan, friendly staff, delicious

Wonderful!

I've eaten here several times over the past year! I love their TLT sandwich and chili mac. They have specials every night that can sell out! Be sure to get here early for dinner because the restaurant is cozy and does not have the seating to match the demand.

Nice light food

I had a sandwich and a black bean bowl with nachos. It was nice but the sandwich was somewhat sour for my taste. Also had a delicious icecream sandwich. Overall it was a good experience.

Delicious Vegan Food

Ordered the Tempeh, Lettuce, Tomato, Avocado, on their own rye bread. I sat at the counter and watched them make the food. The sandwich was amazing, and I also got a side of chipotle ranch to dip the sandwich in and a cup of potato & leek soup. Took dessert home for later; lemon and pastaschio glazed donut and chocolate mocha frosted brownie. Yum!! The people were nice too.

Pros: Fresh, delicious food, Fast service, Great people

My Ann Arbor Favorite

I have loved The Lunch Room since their food cart days and they keep getting better. I have a hard time picking a favorite dish, however I usually go for the chili mac, nachos, or one of their sandwich combos.

Portions are a reasonably sized. If you have a small appetite like me, you may want to split your entree with a friend or order something that will make good leftovers. You WILL want to save room for some of their baked goods. Anything with frosting (cakes/brownies) is a little sweet for my preference, however there are many options of bars/cookies/doughnuts/pastries to choose from.

Their bar is on point. Their cocktail list is well crafted with quality spirits and features several house made infusions/mixers. They also feature plenty of beer and wine to suite everyone's tastes.

The Lunch Room is affordable, but not cheap. Considering the ingredients they put into their dishes and cocktails I would consider them meals a fair value.

Pros: Focus on house made and local ingredient, Bakery Case, Rotating nightly specials

Cons: Limited seeting, especially in winter

IN LOVE

For a vegan/veggie restaurant, this place hits the spot! The options are healthy, fresh, local, and inspired. However, if you are looking for a quiet, less busy restaurant, this may not be the place for you. Of course, this is expected because who wouldn't want to venture in for some AMAZING food! This is a high quality restaurant with high quality, cruelty free ingredients. Lots of love here

Pros: Nice vibe & staff, Tastefull & Inspired, Great Location

Cons: Kind of crowded

Good food Good People

Ok first off its been awhile since I've had a chance to just goto an all vegan restaurant so I might be overly generous simply for that. But all and all the food was very good less the pad thai. The waiters warned us it tastes different if your not use to vegan pad thai. Been vegan for years use to vegan pad thai this doesn't really taste like pad thai. The special Beet Burger was to die for good if its an option choose it. The Mac and Cheese is well seasoned and on par with most vegan mac and cheese. Went back for Sunday Brunch not a bad thing to say everything tasted great. Service was good. All the people where friendly not just the staff but the people around us. Great options well worth a stop if your in Ann Arbor or if you with in a few hours of it. Even the 6 year old was loving the options.

Pros: Value, People, All Vegan

Cons: the Pad Thai (Sorry)

doesn't live up to the hype

I have tried a ton of meals here - and everything is just so bland. I've had the pad Thai, Mac and cheese, chili mac and cheese, banh mi, TLT, and Reuben, and none of it really impressed me. There is a lot better food in AA than lunch room. I want so much to like it because the presentation of food is beautiful and it's a cute space, but the food just doesn't have any complexity of flavor. It's also not very healthy. I like unhealthy vegan food as much as the next person, but the food here is pretty heavy. I hope they can transform their food into something amazing, but for now it's just not really worth it when I could go to Jerusalem Garden instead. :)

Pros: presentation of food, clean, bright space, friendly service

Cons: flavors of food (or lack thereof), health quotient
