Great vegan philly cheese steak sub sandwiches - Edit
I had the Madison Philly (cashew cheese steak sub sandwich) with side salad (mixed greens, shredded carrots, sliced cucumbers, and a yummy tahini dressing). All quite good, for $14. I thought it was a good value, especially for a vegetarian restaurant.

Wait for food was 35 min on a nice Friday at 7. They originally estimated said 45 min. We were able to order inside quickly. Outdoor dining only due to pandemic. Lots of nice patio seating, almost full. They also serve alcohol.

Favorite restaurant in Madison - Edit
Lived in Madison for 3 years, ate here roughly weekly. Delicious. Favorites were the Madison Philly and buffalo wings but lots of good options. They use dairy, but everything is base vegan and its easy to avoid the dairy.

So delicious!! I was visiting the area and was hesitant because I thought it was mostly vegetarian and not really vegan but the opposite is true; everything is vegan on the menu and can be made wi the dairy if requested. I’d come back time and time again to have what we ordered and to try everything else on their menu! The chocolate lava cake was perfection!

We were blown away by the food here! It was so flavorful, with great textures and delicious sauces. We had dry rub wings (my favorite part of the meal), buffalo wings, wraps, chili and a sandwich.

They have a nice tasty mix of clean healthy meals, and vegan sandwiches and comfort food. Soup of the day was also excellent and don’t sleep on the house made Vegan Voodoo Bar!

We were immediately greeted by the staff upon walking in and they took time to explain where we should order, give recommendations, etc. The fries were perfect! I tried their house burger which was a little nontraditional with cheese sauce and jalapenos, and it turned out to be excellent. We also tried the chicken sandwich which was perfectly crispy.

This place was so good! I had the sandwich of the week, which was a po'boy sandwich. Loved the soft sesame bread and the homemade roumellade sauce. I also got the Alfredo pesto pasta. It was even good cold! A must visit when in Madison.

I have been here or ordered to-go about half a dozen times over the years and have always felt it was over-priced and not that good. I went there one last time with a friend recently and it was the same story except with slightly subpar service (slow, grudgingly helpful). The nachos were alright but the toppings weren’t really loaded. I asked specifically for a sweet drink and it was anything but- asked them to add to it and it tasted about the same. Disappointing for a $12 drink. Nothing on the table was exciting. The bill was large.

Read moreI got the Turkee Club, which was the Sandwich of the Week. It was HUGE - 3 pieces of bread...Big Mac style. I got chili as my side, and it was probably the best vegan chili I've ever had. My wife got the Steakbomb, which she really liked. She said she would 100% order it again. The portion:price ratio was very reasonable as well.
We're definitely looking forward to coming back here multiple times and trying more things off the menu.

This place prides itself on elaborate food with house-made ingredients. I had a conversation with one person who makes all the syrups for their coffee drinks and I have to say their seasonal gingerbread cold-brew is life changing.

Their food is absolutely delicious! Pricing is reasonable and good size portions. Casual restaurant and atmosphere. 5 star food!! Chose this restaurant while driving back home from vacation and VERY pleased. Got the crunch wrap burger and mushroom burger. Cute place in Madison- stopped here and ordered the loaded fries and nachos. The loaded fries were amazing, like amazing amazing. But I didn’t care for the nachos as much. I think it was the tortilla chips they used- not a fan. And the guy in front of me in line grabbed the last two chocolate donuts- so I’ll have to come back to try those and more of the menu

This is one of the only all-vegan restaurants in the Madison area and is always a reliable option for us.
Read moreWe have eaten here multiple times, trying many different entrees and the food has always been good. However, the side of fries typically tends to be too salty for our liking. The menu has lots to choose from and they always have very tasty desserts/baked goods but those are “while supplies last.”
For the longest time this place did not have indoor seating options. They recently added about 5 tables so customers can now dine-in.
The Green Owl is very active on their social media accounts and is great at posting daily specials, deals, etc.
Pros: All vegan , Large menu , Now has indoor seating

Really, really delicious food! I appreciate this place offering vegan meats that are not commercially made. I loved my Madison Philly with a side of chili (with vegan cheeze, sour cream and green onions). The wings were so good! They had a texture I wasn't expecting; I totally recommend them! My husband had the "Steak" sandwich and absolutely loved it. He was full from the wings but could not stop eating that sandwich, haha! We will be coming back to Madison JUST to come here.
