great shop and cafe - Edit
Both the shops and the cafe downstairs are really great for veggies and vegans, either for picking up supplies, refuelling or meeting for social meet-ups. The salad bar is good for taking food away and the hot meals are really good if you have more time.

Good vibes and delicious food - Edit
Lots of options, they had curry and a chicken pie on offer with plenty of sides to choose from too. I had the “chicken” pie accompanied with veg and potatoes and it was delicious. They had lots of cakes to choose from too. The upstairs shop was great too with plenty of options.

Amazing health food shop and good café - Edit
I would recommend shopping at the 8th day! I love going - it’s a little treat which adds something to my week. The food they serve is not the greatest, unless you’re going for the cake which is surprisingly good! The only downfall is that the shop is quite expensive, but it is a co-operative after all!

The ultimate vegan shop/café - Edit
Love, Love, Love this place. The shop as you enter has pretty much everything you could need as a vegan shopper. From supplements, to fresh veg, to fridge and frozen goods, it has it all in spades. I usually purchase my faux meats and cheese here as they have a much larger offering than any mainstream supermarket. The place is well laid out and even has a coding for which items are vegan or veggie.
Read moreThe café downstairs is a great lunch spot to eat in or takeaway, with a number of hot dishes cooked fresh daily. There are a few staples like a Dahl and soups on each day, and then some really creative and tasty specials. My favourite is the salad bar. Reasonably priced and a fab selection, you cannot go wrong.
Definitely worth a visit.
Pros: Great selection in the shop and Café, Exciting food menu on offer, Salad bar is fantastic

Good vegan cafe - Edit
Really good food and smoothies, fairly priced too. The Hot Toffee Apple drink is beautiful! The shop itself is not fully vegan, just the cafe. So you still need to check ingredients if buying vegan from the shop

Lovely food and atmosphere - Edit
This is a really lovely shop and cafe in Manchester, located near the University and other international restaurants, which show Manchester's wide cultural diversity. The 8th Day cafe is 100% vegan and offers hot drinks and smoothies, plus soft drinks, a salad bar, soup, curries and sweet desserts. The shop itself has so much stuff, from food to books. Being vegan, it's also passionate about sustainability. Highly recommend!

Shared a channa dhal with rice and spinach, pumpkin and veg stew with roasties and boiled potatoes. We always get the homemade chilli sauce ( not for the faint hearted)
The cafe provides free water you help yourself with.

Cafe's gone vegan - Edit
Update 11th Sept 2021 Cafe hours are 11- 3 now.And still vegan!
Read moreSince reopening after lockdown the cafe has gone vegan and of course offers table service, or takeaways. Daytime/lunch menu ,from 12 noon, includes a delicious extremely tasty "cheese"and onion pie as well as a stew /bake of the day. Evening menu 4pm-8pm has a scrumptious dhaal and a curry as well as jackfruit based dishes. Their Super nourish salad available all day is so colourful,so many textures and totally divine!
They don't do breakfast in cafe any longer but shop upstairs has coffee and pastries.

Love this place! - Edit
Honestly, Eighth Day is vegan heaven! The upstairs shop is HUGE and has a massive range of vegan and organic foods, including a deli counter that sells pies, cakes and other savoury things.
Read moreExcellent zero-waste section and lots of vegan/cruelty-free/eco-friendly toiletries and cleaning products.
The downstairs cafe is now FULLY VEGAN! There are always good gluten free options and the food is so cheap! Absolutely delicious and a wonderful atmosphere. The cafe were delivering via Deliveroo during lockdown, which I hope they manage to continue as their food is much more nutritious than the usual vegan takeaways available in Manchester!
A must for any vegans/veggies visiting Manchester!
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Fully vegan cafe

Co-op grocery store - Edit
The café is below the co-op healthfood grocery store. I had the full vegan breakfast and especially liked the crispy tofu and good bread. Menu items change daily. On another visit, I had the main dish with added side dish (I had half each of two sides) for £7.25. Although the café is not fully vegan, it looks to be almost all vegan. There is a large selection of vegan cakes, and the coffee is good.
Read moreThe co-operative healthfood store on street level offers a full range of products: chilled, frozen, canned, packaged, fresh produce, treats, salty snacks, bread, household. The deli counter has burritos, savoury pies and other takeaway food, with lots of vegan items. I was happy to find the new Bosh/Sheese/Kettle Chips here (January 2020). The store sells wine, cider and beer - my complaint is about the plastic/metal security strips taped onto every can/bottle of alcoholic beverage - they will contaminate the recycling streams, not to mention just the overuse of unrecyclable plastic.
Cons: plastic/metal strips on every alcoholic beverage

Such a nice café, such a good shop - Edit
Eighth day remains one of the best places to grab an informal lunch and a coffee. Good options, good portions, and their homemade hot sauce will blow your roof off. The shop upstairs is also a great place to buy fancy vegan food (or some fresh baked goods) - and they stock Club Mate. All around good stuff

Best city centre shop - Edit
8th Day is the second best shop for vegan food in Manchester and the best near the city centre. The supermarket offers a wide range of prepared vegan and vegetarian foods and other products including a wide range of vitamins and supplements. Downstairs is the 8th Day cafe, which is one of the best vegan places that doesn't just offer junk food. Here you can find arguably the best vegan cake in the city centre. We'll worth visiting.

Great vegetarian shop :) - Edit
Review of the store:
Read moreI really like 8th day, it's great that it's totally vegetarian where you can get spices, grains and pulses, vegetables, toiletries, bakery, whatever you need!
I wish it was fully vegan, but it's still quite good and they have big selection of sweets, teas and soft drinks!
The prices are quite high, but at least they pay their employees living wages so I get it.
And it's nice to have a place like that in the city centre

Good Vegan options - Edit
I like the 8th Day and know that my lunch is going to contain the nutrition 8 need, I just feel the options are limited. Also portion sizes could be better. Amazing cake options, but a little on the pricey side for a student area.
