Beautiful spot! - Edit
Beautiful spot based in Manchester, I can’t believe I’ve never been here before! The shop upstairs is great, full of all sorts of goodies! The deli had a wide selection of sandwiches, pastries & cakes. Mostly Vegan, apart from a couple veggie pastries. Good gluten free sweet treat selection too.
Read moreThe cafe downstairs is great, I had the sweet potato, lentil and coconut soup for a fiver - tasty, fresh homemade. Good selection of food, from pies to dal, salad and even smoothies! I’m looking forward to visiting again
Pros: Mostly plant based

Great all vegan cafe - Edit
The cafe is a great find in Manchester. It is downstairs from a vegetarian supermarket. The whole cafe was marked as vegan, there were salads, soups, dahl, desserts and other items. It's very affordable.
Read moreBe careful with the shop upstairs. We got some cake from the shop and the helpful chap did point out that some had egg in, so not everything upstairs is vegan (but the whole cafe downstairs seems to be).

Popped into the cafe with 2 friends to do some uni work. All the drinks we had were fantastic and fairly priced. One of my friends has recently turned vegetarian and was awestruck by the shop and everything available. If ever you’re nearby I highly recommend!

Great shop and counter - Edit
The cafe was closed when I visited, but I wanted takeaway and the shop counter served what seemed to be exclusively vegan cake and pasties. Prices were also very cheap. Shop sells vegetarian items.

Love it - Edit
I have been coming here since 1999 when I was a student and they were temporarily housed nearby in a “bondooks”. Love these kind of places. The food is all vegan, it is the shop that is veggie, hence its veggie category in Happy Cow. Good value. Shop has different opening hours

Vegan Nirvana - Edit
Many moons before I became vegan, I used to dismiss this place as merely the weird hippy place. Finally getting to go here just underlined what a fool I was; it’s spectacular. Firstly, after a brief reconnaissance mission around the beautifully appointed shop, I descended to the cafe for part one of my mission to sample as much as possible. The carrot soup was vibrant and well seasoned, the Reuben sandwich was wonderful and the sticky toffee pudding was a way to end this initial stage of my foray. Next, I ascended back to the store and made a beeline to the deli counter. The choice selection on offer was phenomenal, and I just about managed to reign myself, buying three savoury and three sweet items. All exceeded my expectations but there were a couple of clear favourites. On the savoury side, the quiche was the somewhat unexpected winner. As for the sweets, the outstanding item (and the best thing I had overall) was the caramel cronut; words can barely do justice to how much I enjoyed it.

Ah, this place was respite from the cold! Lovely lattes, a decadent (but not to sweet) apple and cinnamon cake. Definitely recommend for a quick stop or a meal- things are priced reasonably.

Amazing health food shop and good café - Edit
I would recommend shopping at the 8th day! I love going - it’s a little treat which adds something to my week. The food they serve is not the greatest, unless you’re going for the cake which is surprisingly good! The only downfall is that the shop is quite expensive, but it is a co-operative after all!

The ultimate vegan shop/café - Edit
Love, Love, Love this place. The shop as you enter has pretty much everything you could need as a vegan shopper. From supplements, to fresh veg, to fridge and frozen goods, it has it all in spades. I usually purchase my faux meats and cheese here as they have a much larger offering than any mainstream supermarket. The place is well laid out and even has a coding for which items are vegan or veggie.
Read moreThe café downstairs is a great lunch spot to eat in or takeaway, with a number of hot dishes cooked fresh daily. There are a few staples like a Dahl and soups on each day, and then some really creative and tasty specials. My favourite is the salad bar. Reasonably priced and a fab selection, you cannot go wrong.
Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely food and atmosphere - Edit
This is a really lovely shop and cafe in Manchester, located near the University and other international restaurants, which show Manchester's wide cultural diversity. The 8th Day cafe is 100% vegan and offers hot drinks and smoothies, plus soft drinks, a salad bar, soup, curries and sweet desserts. The shop itself has so much stuff, from food to books. Being vegan, it's also passionate about sustainability. Highly recommend!
