Nice but too expensive!!!!

We went for brunch on sunday but it's 19,90 per person. Way too expensive for us students so we didn't do it.

Pros: It looks nice and tasty and is all vegan

Cons: very expensive

Amazing food!

I just went to Berlin for the first time, for a long weekend trip. It was great. Eating at The Bowl was a definite highlight. The food is awesome! I had the California bowl. Definitely recommend :D

Pros: Great choice for vegans, Great cocktails, Great decor

Trendiness over quality

I had high hopes of this place, of which I heard so much, and unfortunately for me, my balloon of hopes burst.

The menu, while being extansive, is a more-of-the-same: 5 not-so-different types of breakfast bowl meals, 4-5 variations on the theme of salad.
You flip through the 10-page menu looking for somwthing else... But that expactation is never fullfilled.

Food-wise, it's tasty, sure.
Nothing mind-blowing or worthy of "writing home about".
It's just not bad, but "not bad" is not the same as "good".

This place rides on the coat-tails of the "Veganz" vegan groceries store, with which it shares a building (ans which is also over-rated to my mind, but that's a different review, of course).
It's an OK place if, and only if, you're in the neighbourhood already.
Don't bother coming from the other side of this (huge) city just to try it out.
Its more buzz than substance.
Which is a shame really, cause I heard, from vetern Beeliners, that once upon a time, when the place juat opened, you would kill to eat such tasty food.

Shame the managment chose trendiness over quality.
Than again, business-wise I guess they knew what they were doing, the place was packed with tables vacated not staying empty for more than 5 minutes.

Pros: Super friendly staff

Cons: Trend over quality, Staff is friendly, not professional, Pricey, counting the average quality

Could be better.

Unfortunately a disappointing experience: little portions, nothing special but quite pricy in comparison.

fresh, healthy, tasty

I went there a few times and it the dishes are always super yummy and fresh. Even my non vegan friends were amazed. It is a bit on the pricier side but totally worth the freshness and taste.

Pros: healthy, fresh, filling

Cons: doesn't offer proper breakfast

Too healthy

We went here once and we were amazed with the balance of the dishes. I am sure they are very healthy, but we somehow didn't get caught with the taste. I am not saying every restaurant should serve vegan junk food, I love salads and healthy food, nor I am saying this food was bad, just not our cup of tea. It isn't cheapest either, but restaurant is nice and staff friendly.

Great for a fan of Bowls

I had the California Bowl, and the Banana Maca smoothie.
The bowl was good, much better than your average bowl; but still, nothing mind-blowing.

The staff was friendly; but there was just one person during lunch time, which made the service a bit slow.

Prices were ok; but perhaps a bit on the expensive side for Berlin?

In general, it's a good place to eat after your visit to Veganz and Avesu. :)

Pros: tasty, location

Cons: none

Amazing meal, gorgeous decor, 100% recommend

Visited here with my boyfriend early August. We decided against the set menu which was a starter, choice of two mains and a dessert for just under 20 euros, and just had a starter to share, a main each and no dessert - was perfect for us, and we eat a lot!

The starter was bruschetta with mushrooms and beetroot spread which was out of this world. I then had the falafel bowl, whilst my boyfriend had the bowl with sweet potato fries (i can't remember the name - California?) Both were incredible - the taste was impeccable. Literally can fault nothing with the meal.

The decor of the place is also so nice - very romantic, perfect for a couple, but also for friends for a nice meal. The prices were great (we're both students) and the staff were very accommodating. I would 100% return and would urge everyone to go.

Pros: Reasonably priced, Amazing food, Gorgeous, romantic decor

Cons: More dessert options would be great!

barn style with small dishes

I quite liked the style of the restaurant, wood with metal and arty lamps. However, the food didn't convince me really. I had a BBQ bowl and its taste was heavily dominated by pepper. The nougat cream for desser was very good. But both, the main bowl and the dessert were rather small and they do not serve coffe, only espresso.
Luckily, The Bowl is located besides a vegan shoe store and above a Veganz supermarket and a Goodies coffee shop. So you quickly can fill in any wholes in your guts if you like to. :P
There is a restroom and free Wifi. Be aware that they won't take 100€ bills because they once get scammed...

Pros: dessert, wifi, toilet

Cons: size of the dishes, no coffee

The best became one of the worst

If you go for the first time and don't find it amazing, as most of the old reviews say, it's because it has changed.
The Bowl used to be hands down the best vegan joint in Friedrichshain and one of the best in Berlin and beyond. But they have recently changed their menu for the second time. Their bowls used to be delicious and generous and varied, with thick sauces and a great balance of salads, carbs and proteins in a single big bowl. Now they seem like regular salads with a little extra. So something you could get anywhere for half the price. They also raised their prices in this new menu (which is very shoddy as an object compared to the previous one), and took away the pitcher with free tap water. Now one pays 1 euro for a little glass of tap water.

I look and design of the place is still great (though they also removed the hooks to hang coats) and the new menu seems to emphasize drinks over food, so if you just want go out to a nice looking place, drink and overpay for some okay vegan fare, I guess it's still sort of worth it. Also, once there, you can look at the shoes in the vegan shoe store, and get a cheaper and tastier dessert in the cafeteria on the ground floor. The service does seem to be better and quicker than before.

Nice, but lacked some taste

We ate here in the afternoon at 29th of june. We ordered an Asia Bowl and a Buddha Bowl. In the first place we got delivered the wrong bowls and it took quite some time to receive the right bowls.
My boyfriend got the Buddha Bowl and it was amazing! Such a pity I did not choose that one! Because my Asia bowl did not have any dressing, no peanuts or any other flavoring.
I was tired from walking the whole day so did not say anything (I was also the one pointing out the wrong bowl).
All together I would definately go there again though, Atmosphere is very good, love the interior design and the idea of everything in bowls is so nice.
Nice, healthy food!

Pros: Lovely Interior, with nice cozy corners, All vegan and healthy food, Very filling

Cons: My bowl was not complete, lacked flavoring, No handtowel/paper in toilet for washing hands

Great food, very busy

The Bowl was incredibly busy around dinner time, however we got a nice view out of the windows they have in the seating area. The food is all very healthy and very filling.

Pros: Healthy food, Filling , Great location

Cons: Very busy , A little pricey

good but oily

I got the Asia Bowl which was great, but it was SO oily to the point that eating it no longer felt healthy. If they could use less oil of any kind, that would be much better. Lots of other good looking options on the menu!

Cons: Too much oil in bowls

The Makro bowl was so so good. I need to figure out how to make my tempeh tastes like this one. They don't serve breakfasts on weekdays which is what we were hoping to eat, but maybe next time!

Good food, bad ventilation

I already went a couple of times and while it is pricey, the food is usually delicious and a healthy alternative to other vegan options. What bothers me is not really the service (haven't had any complaints) but the air/smell. The kitchen is right next to the dining area and they probably still haven't figured out how to properly ventilate the place? It always smelled like old oil and if you exit, your clothes smell like that as well.

Pros: Healthy and tasty food

Cons: Expensive, Ventilation

Nice food, extremely slow service

The food was good though a bit over-priced. The place is clearly under-staffed as there was only two people running all the tables and the meal for 2 of us took about 2 and a half hours which was just a bit crazy.

Pros: Nice food, Above the vegan supermarket

Cons: Extremely slow service

Pink Chia bowl

Went there with my boyfriend and we ordered the pink chia bow, the gluten free porridge and a thumeric goji tea.
we LOVED the pink chia pudding. Best chia pudding I had in my life!
We paid 18€ which is pretty expensive based on what we're used to but the chia pudding really made me forget about it :D

Pros: It's above a Veganz supermarket, Lots of options, Loved the space

Cons: bit expansive
