Pink Chia bowl - Edit

Went there with my boyfriend and we ordered the pink chia bow, the gluten free porridge and a thumeric goji tea.
we LOVED the pink chia pudding. Best chia pudding I had in my life!
We paid 18€ which is pretty expensive based on what we're used to but the chia pudding really made me forget about it :D

Pros: It's above a Veganz supermarket, Lots of options, Loved the space

Cons: bit expansive

Healthy organic nice food - Edit

If you love healthy food, it's a nice place. I enjoyed my meal, though it had too many leaves, but my partner didn't like his food and stayed hungry. The prices are a little too high, 11.50 euro for a bowl half filled with cabage and spinach. The design is nice and the staff is friendly.

Pros: Unlike other vegan restaurant around, if you want

Cons: Expensive and not for everyone.

good food but expensive and bad service - Edit

The bowl does delicious, organic, healthy food - normally a sort of warm grain-based salad with different toppings. It's delicious and the interior is really beautiful. Also it's above Veganz so you can get your specialist shopping out of the way at the same time.

That said... the other reviews here are right about the service. So slow - to seat you, to take your order, to to bring your food, and to bring your bill. The place is understaffed obviously so the staff are stressed and rude. My food once came with a shard of plastic in it and the staff didn't care (they did give a discount when I asked at the end with the bill but it should have been offered to be honest...). You also cannot reserve a table and it gets packed around 7pm.

It's a weird place really. In terms of food I recommend the California and Makro bowl. The golden milk drink is good too - though a bit sickly.

Positives are that there is tap water and you can pay with card. The food is genuinely delicious and filling.

Pros: taste, tap water, opening hours

Cons: staff, price, can't reserve

Great food worst service in my life. - Edit

I have been all around the world, to a lot of restaurants. This one beats them all in terms of bad service. The waitresses act as if they do you a favor when they pay attention or give you the food. The only thing that might make me come back is the great food. Hope they fix this issue asap.

Pros: Tasty food, Healthy, Nice design

Cons: Service, The service, No really its very bad, dont expect much.

Great healthy food! - Edit

After admiring the art in the East Side Gallery I came with my family and a vegetarian friend to 'The Bowl' and I have no regrets. You must try the 'Falafel Bowl' as the beetroot falafels were divine. However, the waiters did forget we were there at times...

Pros: Delicious food, Near East Side Gallery, Good size portions

Cons: Quite expensive , Slow service

Remember to be Spiritual in Neon Lights - Edit

The neon spiritual sign and the wifi password RELAXNOW really set the scene for an overpriced restaurant that is attempting to be health food haven. In reality it was an overpriced restaurant that left my friend and myself feeling ill well into the night after a €15 each meal.

Pros: Guacamole was nice

Cons: Expensive

I wish I had this in my home town! - Edit

We had a Buddha Bowl and one other (I cant remember the name) with pasta, banana maca smoothie-THE BEST!! and kimchi. All was very very delicious, but do not take non-vegans that are not open to veganism here. I took my brother and he didnt enjoy it. Maybe the sweet potato wedges were a bit too salty.

Pros: all vegan, delicious, relatively fast

Ja, das kann sich sehen lassen! - Edit

Pros: tolles Essen, tolles Ambiente, toller Service

Cons: sehr voll, lange Wartezeiten

Good food - Edit

We ate at The Bowl twice while in Berlin, and really enjoyed it.

The food is tasty and interesting, and the waiting staff friendly and helpful.

Pros: All vegan, Tasty, Friendly helpful staff

Over-praised but worth tasting, esp. for coeliacs - Edit

First impression - heavy smell of cocconut from upstairs while coming to the restaurant on first floor above Veganz supermarket. Second hit - not great service. Third thing: the food. Sure: organic, glutenfree, clean, crispy, fresh. But beetroot falafel doesnt agree with me, salad accompanying falafels was served almost with no dressing, very blant. My friends Buddha bowl was richer due to sweet patato chunks with cocconut curry sauce. Great homemade lemonade. Tried their soup of the day which was broccoli/carrot cream served with bread but: the soup was a bit heavy on salt to my taste, and bread served with soup was actually banana bread! Honestly, the waitress warned me that bread was sweet and more like dessert but what is the point of serving sweet slice of banana bread with soup?? Amazing

Pros: great lemonade, nice vibe, glutenfree

Cons: non-flexible service, soup served with slice of cake, no dressing - blant salad

really tasty and healthy - Edit

met with the terrible twosome who are ambassadors for Berlin:-)
a great option and pretty unique. none of us had the same option and 12eueo for a good size bowl on intricate food is pretty good value in my book. left feeling full but not bloated. really nice interior and a class above most other restaurants in style and taste for Berlin.
travelling with a five year old is never easy but a plate of hummus and some sweet potato fries went down a treat. a must if in Berlin.

Pros: tasty, good value

Cons: busy so service a wee bit slow.

healthy, tasty, filling food - Edit

The Bowl serves healthy, tasty, filling food, the kind it can be difficult to find while traveling and vegan. The menu is relatively short, and a bit pricey, but the items are delicious and don't leave you with a stomachache. I had a bowl and a smoothie and wish I could go back!

Pros: delicious food & smoothies, large portions, friendly staff

Cons: pricey

Great place for lunch - Edit

I'd wanted to visit the vegan supermarket Veganz for some time and after that we went upstairs to the Bowl. Each of us had a different salad, although it was very difficult to choose as they all sounded so delicious. And they were. Staff was very helpful and friendly too. I will definitely return on my next trip to Berlin

Healthy stuff! - Edit

We went to the bowl for lunch, because Goodies was closed. I'm sceptical to the concept of clean eating, and this food was a bit too healthy for me. The risotto was tasty! Salad was ok. Friendly staff!

Pros: Healthy

Cons: Healthy, Everything (even coffee) served in a bowl.

Fresh food - Edit

When thinking of vegan food in Berlin, "fresh" and "healthy" are not necessarily the two adjectives that immediately pop into my head. So The Bowl is a really nice addition to the city's vegan restaurant scene. It is completely vegan, and serves...right, bowls. These contain of different fresh ingredients, usually assembled around quinoa. We had two different bowls, and both were very tasty. Making the decision which bowl to order wasn't easy however, as all the bowls sounded great. There's also always a special available.

We had really high expectations, and those were fully met. The food is fresh, really tasty, and you feel like you've just eaten something actually healthy. The service was also really nice, and they have an English menu. Furthermore, there is tap water available on the bar! (If you've ever eaten out in German restaurants, you know why this is noteworthy.)

Will definitely be back to try some different bowls.

Pros: Fresh, tasty food, Good service

An obligatory stop in Berlin - Edit

An excellent vegan restaurant in an all vegan building (other vegan businesses inside). The food is only served in bowls (hence the name) and always very colorful and tasty.

I recommend to check the daily offer on a big black board in the rear part of the restaurant for various seasonal stuff.

The selection of teas and other matching beverages is also available. Fresh tap water is available free of charge.

Pros: Very good food served in bowls, Seasonal specials on a black board

very friendly - Edit

very friendly environment, peaceful, cozy place to eat in peace in 'real' restaurant

main courses contain garlic but something could be worked out -- cool

easy to reach coz close to a huge subway station in eastern berlin

Pros: very friendly, 'real' restaurant, garlic-freeness could be worked out

favorite - Edit

Pros: glutenfree, all blowls, location

Cons: too little spices, bland, unsteady service, kitchen smell

Refreshingly Tasty - Edit

My boyfriend and I were in Berlin for New Years & came across this gem of a place via the app.

Yesterday I ordered the Italian bowl which was so fresh and full of flavour, just what I needed on a really cold day! It was so good yesterday that I went back today to try the Buddha bowl which was also very tasty & hearty. Their almond milk chai's are also delicious and really fluffy :)

The restaurant itself is decorated and designed nicely with a pleasant, warm & welcoming feeling!

Majority of the staff were so lovely but sadly there is one particular lady who wasn't very friendly/accommodating like the others but aside from that it's totally worth the visit when in Berlin, we are heading back again for a third time to try the Mexican bowl & a smoothie :)

Pros: Tasty food, nice atmosphere, decent prices for the

Cons: One staff member was not friendly or polite

Perfect location and healthy food! - Edit

I have been here 3 times already and will go back any time I am in Berlin! In cities I tend to eat a lot of fast food and it is nice to have a healthy bowl every once and a while :-)
Everything I have tried so far tasted amazing with a lot of attention to detail! The california bowl is my favorite. And off course the location with Veganz, Avesu and Goodies could not be better.
I would recommand going for lunch rather than dinner. They offer a lunch deal, where you pay less for the bowl of the day and a drink is included (water or Apfelschorle). It is also much less crowded, in the evening there tends to be a waiting line. Service is also better.

The only thing I don't really like is how they ask for tips. I understand tips are not included in the prices and it is okay to write this on the bill but I think drawing a circle around it and writing thank you is too much.

Pros: Very good food, Lunch deal, Healthy

Cons: a bit pushy for tips

Very good - Edit

The food is good, very well combined flavors, fresh. You get nice big bowl so i was satisfied (and honestly very hungry before I got there). Definitely worth trying, just a bit pricey...

Pros: Different, Tasty

Cons: Price

Best vegan meal I've ever had! - Edit

Beautiful restaurant and friendly atmosphere. Incredible healthy clean food choices. The fried Brussel sprouts with cashew cheese sauce was to die for. You definitely have to go here when you're in Berlin. I'm going back tomorrow for more delicious food before I fly home.

Cozy atmosphere with tasty food - Edit

Went here the day we arrived in Berlin. The food was not amazing, but it was really good. The portions werent as big as I would of liked, but they were large enough to satisfy my hunger. The wait staff seemed very friendly as well.

Pros: cozy, plenty of choices

Cons: a bit pricey, small sized portions

Great place - Edit

Above the Veganz is this great place.
It's a really cool place with nice interior and a great concept.
We thought the food was great!! Had the Mexican and macrobiotic bowl and were very satisfied.
They had high chairs.

Pros: Great food, Cool place, Nice staff

Cons: None

Simple food done well. - Edit

Simple salad based dishes in lots of tempting combinations and interesting sides. Everything we had was really nice and we'd planned to come again to try more but just didn't make it- next time...
Nice venue with a good view, friendly English speaking staff and good for coeliacs.

Pros: Good value, good food, friendly staff.

Cons: None.

Delicious food, bad service - Edit

The food is amazing, and big servings too. The desserts are also awesome.
The service was SO slow, even half an hour to serve our drinks after we ordered.
Also the candles made the whole room smell like wax…
Get there early or you have to queue up. But do go- because despite the price, the food is amazing.

Pros: food

Cons: slow service, price

healthy wholefoods finally arrived in berlin - Edit

Berlin is great for vegan food but really rather more on the junk food side of things.
The Bowl is one of the first all vegan whole food cafes and they're very good at what they're doing. Big portions and very friendly staff. I never tried any of their dessert though. At least not yet.

hearty bowls & great service - Edit

everyone who works at the bowl is super knowledgable about vegan diets & are more than happy to explain what the food is made of exactly (for example when I asked what the black bean pasta was, my server told me all the ingredients in it)

the bowls are big & served at the perfect temperature (especially during a cold night) - I'd recommend either the Mexican or Buddha bowl!

Don't forget the desserts! - Edit

I ate here today and agree with all the rave comments from others. I had a raw bowl which was an imaginative selection of vegetables, fruit, salads and other delights. But the star dish was to follow cold, white chocolate with berries and, I think, coconut cream. So leave enough room for a dessert!

Pros: Delicious, imaginative food

Cosy and delicious - Edit

We visited the Bowl after a shop at the Veganz supermarket downstairs. It has a lovely upmarket feel but is still cosy and friendly. There was a bit of a queue (although we were seated fairly quickly) so it's obviously quite a popular spot.

All of the bowls looked delicious, the ingredients were super-fresh and everything was tasty and filling. A great, simple idea executed really well.

There are tons of cool bars and shops in the area so a nice spot for dinner after a day of wandering!

Highly recommended, delicious - Edit

Absolutely loved this restaurant, came back 3 nights in a row, wish I had found it earlier in the week because then I would have come every day. The bowls are so tasty, healthy and fresh and really generous portions and you can take them to go and walk over the bridge and sit by the river. Really good value for money and lovely staff, and great location!

Stylish, relaxing atmosphere and generous portions - Edit

Eating here was a treat. The ambiance was Zen, the service friendly and accommodating, and the food beamed with quality. I ordered a matcha almond latte, which was served in a bowl, much larger than I expected, accompanied with a small jar of coconut sugar (no refined sugar is used). I ordered the vibrantly colored savory bowl for breakfast (don't recall the name), which was refreshing without feeling too much like "health food." Again, the portion size was quite generous. For the same price as many other vegan breakfasts in town, you can enjoy a superior experience.

Great Dining Experience - Edit

This place is great, what a really pleasant experience. The interior is very nicely done, which is a change from some of the grungier places I've been to in Berlin (not a criticism, just a fact) I was hoping that the 'clean living' concept wouldn't be too preachy or elitist, and it wasn't at all. We enjoyed some delicious food, served by a friendly team, in a great environment, at a good price. Wish they had a branch in the U.K.!

Pros: Excellent food, Lovely interior, Friendly staff

By submitting this post you agree to HappyCow Terms

Awesome - Edit

This is the benchmark for a good meal in Berlin! The Bowl serves generous helpings of absolutely delightful food which has clearly been made with a lot of care and attention. The prices are very reasonable and especially so because of the classy atmosphere. I went in a group of 4, everyone got something different and everything was equally brilliant. My friends are still talking about it.

It was a bit crowded when we arrived but in a way that just adds to the positive atmosphere. We browsed Veganz supermarket directly downstairs while we waited for a table to become available.

Pros: Lovely positive food, Great atmosphere, Cool part of town

amazing healthy food - Edit

They have a really good selection on the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is fresh and tasty and nicely presented. Their green smoothie was PERFECT and the Chai with almond milk was also really good and foamy. Their portions are rather big so after a smoothie, a Chai and the "Herzhafte Brot Bowl" ("hearty bread bowl") I was quite full.

(And on the ground floor there is a really good vegan supermarket and you can also buy vegan cakes, bagels, burgers, wraps and salads there and take them with you.)

Pros: healthy, fresh, some raw food dishes, big portions

By submitting this post you agree to HappyCow Terms

perfect raw food - Edit

Great raw food! Every bowl I had was awesome. Can recommend any. You don't have to wait long, the prive is fair and if you are lucky you get a sest near the window to watch the people on the Warschauer Brücke.

Just fabulous - Edit

We first tried this restaurant on Saturday night (27th June), and all four of us have it a thumbs up.
The food and service was so great we ended up going back again for evening meals on the next two nights!
Nice to see honest menus with plant based (non meat substitute) and fresh items.
Toilets are clean and the whole place is just a credit to the team and people who had the idea of the Vegan restaurant.

Pros: good food, good service , reasonable prices

Cons: none

We had the Italian Bowl and the Mexican Bowl. They are both wonderful, and the Mexican Bowl is especially warming for those cold rainy days.
Tastefully decorated, friendly service (and they speak English as well). Will definitely be back!

Berlins first Clean Eating Restaurant - Edit

The Bowl is a plant based clean eating restaurant in Berlin and is offering different variations from breakfast to dinner. Each menu will be served in a bowl. Everything is 100% glutenfree, sugar free and certified organic

Pros: 100% glutenfree, 100% vegan & certified organic, 100% sugar-free

Wonderful! - Edit

The hibiscus grapefruit lemonade was delicious and quite refreshing. They have an English menu too. It's a very cool hip space. I had the macrobiotic bowl and it was really tasty. I especially loved the Brussels sprouts. My date had the local bowl with tempeh coated asparagus and I thought his bowl was even more tasty than mine. Delicious food, fair prices, great waiters and staff. Don't miss this one.

Looks amazing! - Edit

I love the concept of this restaurant! There is a good variety of fresh and raw foods and there are some great flavours. I went with a group and we got to try a few of the mains and desserts and everyone enjoyed their food. The service was also great!

The only negative point would be the price in relation to the portion sizes. It's not completely overpriced, but I think the prices are slightly higher than what you'd expect to pay for the amount you get. I would definitely recommend going at least once to try it out and to get inspiration though.

Pros: Good service, Great variety of dishes, Great raw food

Cons: Slightly more expensive than I expected

Awesome Opening Night! - Edit

Me and my non veg friends went there the opening night and even though all places were taken they figured out a place for a us to sit, all staff were extremely friendly and the food was amazing - both the bowls and the delicious raw cake we got for dessert! The bowl concept is here to stay yes please! :)

Pros: Amazing Food, Cool Friendly Caring Staff, Not Expensive At All!

big disappointment - Edit

I was really looking forward for the opening. My first (and for sure the last) visit was so far my the worst experience when it comes to eating out. Menu looks great (however got not many options) and here all pluses ends. Crew is really messy and disorganised. Claim is giving customers high expectation but after all The Bowl seems to be the place with highly not relevant price to the quality. Pity but at least downstairs are Veganz and Goodies which I adore!

Pros: location

Cons: crew, food, price to quality of the service
