Simple place offering vegetarian and vegan food without garlic or onion. The menu incorporates meat language into the dish names, but all the 'meats' are made from seitan, tofu, or soya protein. Food takes time to prepare, but you could phone ahead to order - ask for the daughter who speaks English. FEB 2016 REPORTED SHUT, FOR LEASE SIGN ON WINDOW.

Taiwan Veg Restuarant

This place is the best!! The owners are so friendly and smile from ear to ear when they find out you are vegetarian. All the meals offered are completely veg friendly. The smoothies come recommended as well. Oh and never forget to try the seaweed salad. I love this place it is one of my personal favorites.

Pros: All veg, Cheap for HUGE portions, So friendly and fresh

Great Takeaway Taiwanese Vegetarian Restaurant

Taiwan Veg Restaurant is an unassuming little restaurant on Queen Street in Kensington that makes incredible food. Most dishes are vegan or can be made vegan. The owners are very friendly but speak little English. They do understand the word Vegan though, so you should be fine. They have English menus. The dishes have some strange names but they all taste great. Some of the dishes are spicy so check if you are averse to chilli. There are tables at the restaurant so one can sit down for a meal, but the atmosphere is that of a take away place.

The Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs is seitan in a deep fried batter with sweet and sour sauce, the spicy fried chicken is similar but with butternut in a deep fried batter and no sauce. Delicious. The Gan Sou tofu is very good, crispy and flavourful tofu, the Satay Lamb is a very tasty dish with seitan meat substitute and the Steamed Red Bean Buns are great for a dessert.

Food can take a while so call ahead once you know the menu. Order one dish and one starter per person if you're ambitious, because the portions are generous.

Pros: excellent food, very good value for money, many options

Cons: not enough space in my tummy for it all, rice takes long to cook if not ready, little English is understood or spoken
