Delicious and filling

Fair few options to choose from. Three vegan ramen flavours. I had the black garlic option which was very flavorful. The toppings were really nice as well. Vegan gyoza, tofu katsu and donrubi options also available. Quick service.

Pros: Decent options for vegans, Tasty ramen bowl, God value for money

Best ramen

Susuru has some of the best ramen I've ever had. Great food, vegan items clearly marked. Friendly staff and they often have a vegan option as one of the monthly specials. Definitely worth a visit! Ramen options have different broths for spice levels and lots of options for extras and sides.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Absolutely delicious, Fast service

Delicious!

I’m absolutely addicted to the vegan curry ramen and donburi!!! They’ve changed the recipe recently and it’s now even better than before 🤤

Pros: Good selection of vegan options

Just meh...

The curry ramen was rubbish.

Clumpy curry cubes were at the bottom of the soup & not well blended into the soup at all.

The noodles were very basic 2 minute noodles similar to Maggi brand and the soup super watery.

The crumbed Tofu was nice though.

The gyoza was bad too, the sause tasted like saki mixed with sesame seed & the gyoza itself was just bad. Old, dry & just not good. I don't like to waste food so I did finish it, but it was a struggle to finish. Supermarket gyoza is better.

The restaurant was way over staffed and the restaurant less than half empty so I don't know why the quality was so low, it's not as if they were under the pump.

Pros: Crumbed Tofu was yum, Rice bowls looked good

Cons: Not good flavour, High cost for what it is, Confusing ordering system

Great sides

My partner and I came here on our recent trip to Newcastle. I loved the vegan gyoza and agedashi tofu. The ramen was good but not great. We preferred the vegan curry ramen over the regular vegan ramen. Prices were reasonable. I’d give this place 3.5 stars if I could

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Delicious sides, Friendly service even while busy

Cons: Can get very busy so may take time for food, Good but mb not as much as hyped

Awesome. Worth seeking out.

Read all the reviews so specifically came here on a trip to Newcastle and it didn’t disappoint. Both of the vegan ramen dishes were amazing. The vegan gyoza were yum, but not as good as the ramen. Very friendly staff and get design and atmosphere.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Delicious food, Great design and atmosphere

Amazing ! But crazy lighting

Amazing HUGE servings. Delish vegan ramen !! Lots of vegan options on menu. Unwelcoming / unpleasant super highly fluorescent lighting though. Would only go during the day and not as night
Get vegan ramen and add for $3 crumbed tofu! You will never regret

Amazing ramen

Try to go here every time I’m in the area. Haven’t been disappointed in the 5 times this year. Crumbed tofu is to die for.

Loved it!

Loved the bright and open space. Had the Vegan Curry Ramen, which was rich and flavorsome. The tofu katsu was crispy and fresh.
Highly recommend trying if you're in the area!

Pros: Many vegan options, Order via tablet or at the counter, Does delivery and takeaway

Inconsistent

We have loved susuru for a long time but something changed in the last 6-8 months. You barely get any soup now, the flavours are weakened and more often then not we have to send something back or get a refund because it’s not edible

Pros: Vegan options

Cons: Inconsistent , Weak flavours , Small serving of soup

Delicious and clearly marked vegan options

Great ramen, plus crumbed tofu was amazing. Just order off the iPad, everything is clearly marked. The staff confirm it is the vegan one when they bring it over so no worries about getting a mix up. Yummy!

Okay ramen, great gyoza!

I love the vegan gyozas here! The vegan ramen is okay. Quite expensive for what it is.

Vegan Ramen and Sides

Susuru have a very decent vegan ramen which has vegan noodles in a vegetable, pepper and shiitake broth with soy tare, topped with baby spinach, seasoned bamboo, kimchi tomato, shallots and parsley. The ramen could be improved by adding some more toppings e.g. tofu, mushrooms etc.

The vegan gyoza contained tofu, corn, cabbage, kale and quinoa dumplings with ponzu, soy and nori. These were okay, but not very filling for the money, so I'd probably skip them next time.

My recommendation, grab some Ramen then go down the road for some vegan gelato at Popolo Gelateria for desert :)

Pros: Decent pricing, Great location

Cons: Ramen could use some more toppings

vegan japanese food

Vegan ramen is alright. They have a decent amount of appetisers here too. Personally didn't really like the gyoza or pickled vegetables. But the lotus chips and agedashi tofu is good.

Pros: lots of vegan sides , reusable chopsticks , clearly marked vegan options

Cons: can be a wait for a seat (gets busy)
