Vegan Frozen Yogurt!! - Edit
They had two flavors of vegan frozen yogurt. One was a fruity flavor (I think raspberry?) and one was chocolate. I had the chocolate and it was amazing! It is made out of almond milk. They had a lot of fruit and nuts for toppings as well as some pretzels and dairy free snow caps. They also have vegan ice cream sandwiches. It is very cute inside, but super busy! We are definitely going to return here.

Great Location and Tasty Options - Edit
I always want a cold treat when I'm at the beach (who doesn't?) but until recently, I had to make do buying a pint of vegan ice cream at the local Food Lion. I'm so glad Surfin' Spoon is around! I'm not sure when they started serving vegan options, but they should advertise it more. We had some of their coconut macaroon pistachio ice cream sandwiches at Nags Head Pizza Company and were instantly hooked!
Read moreWhen we went to their location, I had their vegan chocolate frozen yogurt with plenty of fresh fruit on top. It was really tasty and reasonably priced. There are only two vegan options in the machines but they have a few vegan ice cream sandwiches available to choose from too.
The shop itself is a wonderful little blast from the past - the building used to be a restaurant in the 50s and 60s. As someone in historic preservation, I really appreciated the way they made only a few changes to update the space and left many original features like the front door. The best part? They follow the same tradition from the building's restaurant days: Tips are collected in the grooves of the ceiling boards and are later collected to be donated to charity. It all makes for a wonderful atmosphere to admire while you enjoy your frozen yogurt.
This place offers a charming location, tasty treats for the whole family (veg and non), and is a wonderful testament to the community of Nags Head.
