Accommodating but not as good as before - Edit
I write this review with a little bit of sadness. I used to come to sukho thai all the time before it was renovated when I lived uptown. It was really reliable for me especially because they have an incredibly extensive vegan menu. I always loved the vegan dirty noodles with fried tofu, curries, and the vegan papaya salad. Especially the noodles I used to crave all the time--they were insanely good. If I had written a review a few years ago it would have gotten top ratings but the last couple times I've gone have been disappointing. This most recent visit, everything tasted okay but had a burnt flavor (I really like char, this was different) and a little bland and the tofu even tasted a little old. I also felt like my lunch portion of the drunken noodles came with almost no noodles at all. I think it's hard to write this because I hate to knock any business that works so hard to accommodate vegans especially with a dedicated menu. For what it's worth we were there towards the end of lunch hour. I still want to believe that I just visited at the wrong times but I can't give them the same rating as other favorites around town that are always consistent. I plan to try it again sometime and still generally recommend people try it and support the vegan options. Hoping they bounce back because I want to love it and rave about it again!!

Big menu and plenty of vegan options - Edit
With so many restaurants keeping vegan options so limited, it’s refreshing to have a place you can go to with nonvegan people and still have a plethora of items to choose from. The vegan entree menu is a full page long and consists mostly of regular menu items with meat/eggs/dairy removed, but is given its own page which makes ordering them a breeze. In addition, several of the appetizers and over half of the desserts are vegan by default and clearly marked as such.
Read moreI ordered a Thai tea, the fried tofu appetizer, vegan dirty noodles, and coconut pudding dessert. The Thai Tea typically comes with half and half, but after talking with the waiter I had it painlessly replaced with coconut milk. It was good but a bit bitter, nothing off putting for me though. Fried tofu was hot and crunchy with that light tempura batter, and came with a yummy chili sauce to freely dip them in. There was a mixup with my dirty noodles (served to me with egg) but after flagging down the waiter it was quickly corrected and brought by what I assumed to be the location manager who apologized for the mistake. I’ve never had coconut pudding anywhere else, but the ones they serve here which I ordered for dessert is not my favorite restaurant dessert or anywhere I’ve been to. Small, shallow dishes filled with warm rice flour cakes and topped with coconut cream, they’re perfectly sweet and so delicious I wish the service size was bigger.
Atmosphere is comfortable and service is quick. Love SukhoThai!
