Bar with whole vegan menu! - Edit
Had the buffalo Mac and cheese, a smash burger with tempeh bacon and boneless wings.
Read moreThe burger and Mac and cheese were especially yummy! The boneless wings were basically just vegan chicken nuggets, but they were atleast decent ones.
Pros: Vegan Menu, Lots of options, Take out over phone

Used to be a Vegan establishment… - Edit
It is baffling why the owner would create an entire non-vegan menu when the food is all essentially the same. Now when I call for a pickup order, I have to be very careful to remember that this is a non-vegan establishment and specify that I don’t want animal products.
Read moreAlso, their vegan menu has shrunk in half. There are now far less options for those with said lifestyle. Their entire breakfast menu, as well as many more entree types that used to keep me coming back. They even got rid of their tastiest item, the black bean burger, which was the main reason I would eat there.
I will still make a pickup on rare occasions, but my enthusiasm for this place has dwindled.
FYI:
There are now zero vegan restaurants in Traverse City since Stone Hound went to meat.

Great food! Casual atmosphere - Edit
Casual atmosphere with plenty of games to keep you occupied while waiting for your food. It was awesome to see that they had a vegan menu! I had the Nashville Hot sandwich which was great! I don’t like spicy food but this was the enjoyable type of heat. My husband had the Smash Burger which was also good.

Let My Terrible Decision be a Warning For You - Edit
This is a terrible, terrible review. I wanted so badly to root for Stone Hound Brewing Company, but instead I feel I have to warn everyone.
Read moreAfter years of marketing itself as a vegan brewery (the only one of its kind in Michigan), listing their vegan focused foods on their website and social media, even going so far as to creating a Happy Cow account and adding their business to Happy Cow and labeling themselves as Vegan, they are no longer a vegan restaurant.
But that is not all. Nowhere in their social media or website do they mention their drastic shift in menu by adding meat, leading me to believe they were still a vegan restaurant when I went to visit them in March. Their menu even still has listed (on their website) that "All items are 100% Plant-Based." This is not true. And I had to find that out the hard way after spending two days straight over the toilet.
This level of irresponsibility is baffling. For their safety, I cannot recommend anyone to visit this restaurant. I recommend you stay away because dietary needs here are viewed with wonton disregard.
Cons: Not Vegan even though claim to be
StoneHoundBrewingCo.
Dear TurnipForPlants,
Read moreAs the owner of Stone Hound Brewing Company, I am deeply disheartened to read about your negative experience. First and foremost, I sincerely apologize for any discomfort or inconvenience you encountered during or after your visit.
I want to personally address your concerns regarding our shift in menu offerings. Both the new menu and our vegan menu were made available on our website days before we launched it and have been ever since. An Instagram Story labeled "Food Menu" has been pinned to the top of our Instagram profile since March 20th which was day we reopened our kitchen with the new offerings. I feel it is also worth noting that the disclaimer you mentioned on the vegan menu, both on our website and the physical menu available in the taproom, has always read in full as follows: "*All items are 100% Plant-Based but we are not a fully Vegan kitchen. We strive to avoid any cross-contamination, however, cooking surfaces are shared."
As someone who follows a vegan diet myself, I understand the importance of clear communication and adherence to dietary preferences. I am genuinely sorry if our communication fell short of your expectations, particularly on our social media platforms. Please know that we are actively working to update external channels such as Happy Cow to accurately reflect our current menu offerings.
Your feedback is invaluable to me, and I assure you that we are taking immediate steps to prevent similar incidents in the future. We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable dining experience for all our guests, regardless of their dietary preferences.
Once again, I apologize for any distress caused, and I hope you will consider giving us another chance. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you would like to discuss your experience further.
Sincerely,
Brent Faber

Fantastic Vegan Comfort/Bar Food - Edit
Sadly, I’m not a beer drinker. I strictly visit Stone Hound for the vegan food! It’s the best comfort food. So far, I’ve only had the burger, chicken sandwich, and chicken wrap, but those along with fries have all been yummy! I’m so happy to have this as an option in the area!

Berbere Carrot Wrap - Edit
Carrots have excellent flavor. Not spicy. Meals come with corn chips. Fries are an upgrade. Pretzel bites with cashew cheez are also great. Good mixture of all plant options and some meat sub options. Happy to see this all vegan brewery. We didn’t drink the beer so no review from me on that.

The food here is from an entirely plant based kitchen and it is pretty awesome. I got the buffalo chickn wrap, and it was solid. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of beer options too. The fries are perfection.

As a vegan and vegetarian household living in TC, this is our favorite place! You can always find a tasty beer (or NA option) here and the food menu is fully plant based. Food options on the menu are wide ranging from pub food to lighter salad options. Always a go-to for a solid, relaxed hang and bite to eat.
