Interesting menu, good food - Edit
Came here for a pre Barbican show dinner. It is well hidden in the new buildings. The place is nicely bright inside and appears clean.
Read moreIt was difficult for me to choose as the dinner menu was full of interesting dishes and I'd definitely want to try more than two :)
At the end we had as a starter the Pickles and Ferments from the side section. They were good, however I could have them fermented touch more for more punchy strong flavour, but that's my personal preference. My favourite was fermented radish. Crunchy with light fermented flavour.
As mains we had Aromatic Cioppino. It was very good however I'd imagine bit more of a "fishy" flavour in the stew. The mushrooms and fake "fish" was delicious tho.
Second main was The King Oyster Bowl, very nice fresh meal, could have definitely more mushrooms, they were again very good.
For desserts we chose Affogato which to nice surprise was not swedish glace ice cream but some different less sweet one.
For all above with service charge around £60.
Pros: Interesting menu, variety of dishes

Keeps getting better - Edit
I’ve eaten here a number of times now, and this was the best so far. The menu has some welcome additions on it - no-fish tacos and a tofish stew. Both were a delight. Really flavoursome without being overly “fishy”. I also loved the kimchi pancakes.
Read moreStaff were top notch too - John and his team were very attentive and friendly which makes such a difference to the whole experience.
Will definitely return ❤️

An absolute gem! - Edit
We enjoyed an absolutely lovely meal here. The fish-less tacos weren’t in the least bit fishy but an amazing combination of flavours, and the Aubergine Chermoula was special enough to ensure that we’ll be going back. If you don’t think you like aubergine try this and it might change your mind!
Read moreThe dirty burger was very beef-like. In a non-vegan restaurant I would have queried whether I’d been served the right thing. I don’t particularly like very realistic meat substitutes so wouldn’t choose this again, but for those who are missing meat or dining with omni friends this might just hit the spot!
Service was attentive without being overbearing. Relaxed atmosphere.
The only downside was the state of their lavatory, which was in need of a deep clean.

Disappointed - Edit
I really wanted to like this place but was so disappointed. Booked a chefs table seat based on some reviews and hoped to get some great tips on cooking vegan food whilst watching the chefs work. All I saw was chefs who didn’t smile or speak once and a lot of reheating food.
Read moreThe starters were nice (kimchi pancakes and Sichuan aubergine) but the mains and desserts were mediocre.
I had the festive Wellington, which despite sitting in front of the chef was burnt and the potatoes were unseasoned. My partner had the plant burger which we could have easily done at home with bland (reheated) chips. The sticky toffee dessert was slimy and didn’t taste anything like sticky toffee (more like steamed ginger cake) and the cherry crumble tasted like the cherry filling had come from a tin of cherry pie filling with a crumble top. So sweet.
On the upside the service was brilliant. Very attentive and cheery!
Pros: Great service, Nice atmosphere
Cons: Food bland and reheated, Chefs table was a let down

Fancy Presentation - Edit
I showed up without a reservation so the only seating was at the bar. I ordered two delicious starters for my meal. The Swede Gnocchi and the Kimchi Pancakes were both delicious.

Excellent starters, salty main - Edit
Really nice venue and the food is pretty good. Lots of options. Would say the starters were better than the mains which were overly salty. Would really recommend the cauliflower bites and the gnocchi

We have visited the place three times - never disappoints! All dishes are absolutely stellar: amazing combination of flavours and well-thought out. A gem in a piazza-looking spot within the City of London. Can't wait to be back

So so so good! - Edit
I’d heard about this place but had never been. Tried a bit of several dishes. Cannot recommend the kimchi pancakes, buffalo cauliflower and fettuccine enough. Plus the brownie was the best I’ve ever had (A good vegan brownie is something I’ve searched high and low for!)

The food was colourful and well presented, and the staff were great. But the lunch menu was average for the price.

Place looks nice food is bad - Edit
I ordered 3 points/dishes and all of them weren’t good. Pancakes are dry and too salty, katsy carry very spicy, so spicy I couldn’t eat that. Raspberry cheesecake was just after freezer, tasteless. Price for this quality of food is too high. Disappointed.
Read morePros: Area
Cons: Food isn’t tasty, curry too spicy I couldn’t eat , Cheesecake isn’t fresh, was just from a freezer , Too expensive for this quality of food

A delicious experience - Edit
After a lovely visit to the Barbican I found stem & glory on this app. I walked in as a table for one and had great service and delicious food. Service was a little slow so I ordered my food on the app separately, because of this I tipped twice as I paid for my cocktail at the end. Not a big deal tho and would certainly recommend!!

This used to be a go-to restaurant when I lived in the area, the staff is so friendly and the food very good.
Read moreThe golden hummus and seed crackers are a must-try.
Their desserts are also delicious, and their vegan roast is quite something as well. Their winter holiday menu back in 2019 was great.
I liked the Swedish meatballs, but they disappointed a colleague who lived in Sweden.

Great food, friendly service - 4.5 stars - Edit
Service was super quick and friendly. We had a buyagift voucher and they were really accommodating and allowed us to select any main, desert or starter we wanted. The waitress was very friendly, interior very minimalist and light. Portion size was very fair and delicious! We had the buffalo cauliflower to start, the bbq Tempeh bao buns (AMAZING) and the cheese cake for dessert. Delicious!

Tiny portions — I'm starving!! - Edit
Really wanted to like it but after a starter and main coming to over £20 I am absolutely starving. I had a grilled tofu starter and swede gnocchi main, which is half a plate of mostly mushroom and a gallon of balsamic glaze. In total I only counted ~2 portions of vegetables in all of this and I'd be shocked if it was more 500kcal, so I don't really understand who they're trying to feed? Neither the health-consciousness, nor an adult human.
Read morePros: No animals on the menu
Cons: Expensive and tiny, insubstantial portions.

You shouldn‘t miss it! - Edit
We have been there a few times and it was always very tasty and something special. The menu offers a wide range of food from burgers to lasagne and marinated tempeh. Everybody should be able to find something. Last time we had the cauliflower buffalo wings, vegetable lasagne, marinated tempeh and raspberry cheesecake. It was all tasty and we enjoyed our dinner.
