Ft. Worth's Own Slice of Portland!

What a good menu selection! I was a bit apprehensive upon arriving, mainly because I was wearing my corporate work clothes. A very energetic waiter showed me to my table, and all was well. All types of people in this place! From nose rings and huge jangly keychains to students to a well dressed group celebrating a birthday, one thing can be said about a place that creates such good vegan food: it attracts cool people! Found my second staple place in DFW! Yay! Seek and ye shall find.

Pros: Wide selection, Independent feel, Great staff

So good and so many options!

It's wild how much they have to offer! The elote nachos were great! I don't remember the name of the other, but it's a tofu scramble with guac served with tortillas. Both were amazing! The shakes were great, too. Love that Cookies and Cream. 🤤

Pros: Helpful and friendly staff, Tasty food, Options for everyone

Large vegan menu

We got a baked potato grilled cheese and TX hot chicken. Both items were good and I didn’t have any complaints other than how heavy the grilled cheese was, but that’s on me because what else was I expecting from potatoes in bread? The food I would give 4/5

My real complaint was with the staff. We went around 4 on a Thursday and there were only a few other tables. Our waiter was nice when he came to us but we only saw him twice. At some point I guess it was break time for him because he was sitting there eating and on his phone and it took 15 minutes for somebody to come and acknowledge that we were done eating

Pros: All vegan, Good food

Cons: Lacking in customer service

Vegan Comfort Food

This is a staple resturant for sure. One of the first places I started going as a vegan. The food is good, service is great, and you can't beat the menu options. Sadly I belive some locations have closed, although I hope to see this business continue to flourish!

Pros: All vegan, Comfort food, Very friendly staff

Comfort diner food

Amazing blueberry pancakes and nachos! The “lumberjack” plate was a nice variety, but the biscuit was a bit hard and cold.

Pros: Lots of seating, A lot of vegan options (breakfast, salad, burgers), Sweets (shakes, cakes, cupcakes, etc)

Breakfast

Recently dx with alpha gal in May of 2023 and it's been so stressful. My hometown has no option for eating out. I was so happy to find this diner while on a recent trip to TX. The food was so very delicious and tasted surprisingly better than non-vegan. I had the pancakes with sausage and bacon and a brownie and cc cookie. Will definitely be back my next trip.

A gem 💎

This place is a gem in an area with few vegan options. The menu is expansive and creative, the food delicious, and the decor is adorable. I got the fajita quesadilla and loved the house-made seitan!

Yummy pancakes

The best vegan spot with the best pancakes! I’ve come here for breakfast for years and I’m just sad that the one in Dallas closed, but I like this location in Fort Worth better for parking purposes. I always order the Two Step with bacun. Sometimes I add blueberries to my pancakes if I’m feeling fancy. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They have cookies, shakes, cupcakes and several sweets to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Diner with a long vegan tradition

We were at spiral with our non-vegan friends and family and everybody liked their food. Especially the sandwiches and sides were very good.

Pros: The spirit of the place, Very friendly staff, Great variety of food and drinks

Cons: the pancakes could have been fluffier

Delicious, but slow service

The food at spiral is pretty much always spot on. However, the service was a bit slow, which sucked because we were super hungry. The patty melt also was more like a cheeseburger with unmelted cheese. But everything still tastes great so 5 stars from me.

MASSIVE nachos!

The picture says it all! The server said the nachos were “pretty big” but I absolutely was not prepared for the massive pile of goodness that was delivered to the table. The smile before I started eating was equal to the one when I was finished. Crazy good!

Delicious vegan food

In an area with sparse choices for veg people, this is an oasis of options. I went here after going to the Dallas location 1-2 years ago with a non-veg family member and they also enjoyed it. My favorite menu item is probably the shakes, fully worth the 10 dollars they cost.

Pros: All-vegan menu, Huge menu, breakfast to lunch and dinner, Lots of protein options

Cons: Not the least expensive, Don‘t love their vegan bacon

I dream of the bacon breakfast taco 🫠

I immediately come here from the airport whenever I land in DFW (literally it’s the very first stop)✈️ - Great selection, great quality, great service. In my top 3 favorite vegan restaurants (and I’ve been to many cities and 4 countries!)🌎 Only complaint is that I live too far away (RI)🌊 Also I can’t wait to try the new affiliate restaurant and ice cream shop around the corner when they open! 😛 P.S. make reservations if going on the weekend

Pros: Bacon breakfast taco (add chipotle Mayo!), Diner vibes, shakes and dessert, Welcoming environment

Cons: No location in New England 🥲🫶🏻

Pros: Everything is vegan on the menu, Breakfast to burgers to nachos to salads , Innovative sandwiches and desserts!

Cons: Sometimes have to wait, Can be higher costs - fair trade though

Good vegan dining in Cowtow

First time visiting this Spiral Diner location in Ft. Worth. The now closed restaurant formerly in Dallas was a regular stop when visiting the area, so we have this one a try. Smaller, with some of same menu items. Loaded nachos for the table as an appetizer; delicious, even for the non vegans. All day breakfast was so-so. Delicious Migas, nicely seasoned tofu with crisp vegetables & well done flour tortilla. Blueberry pancakes just okay, not fluffy as remembered from other Spiral visit. Biscuits and gravy were not good; somewhat flat & gravy tasted overly salty with an aftertaste like anise or maybe tarragon. We sent it back after a bite by 2 diners in our group, one vegan & one non vegan. Restaurant graciously did not charge for the uneaten dish. Excellent salads, tacos, smoothies.
Delicious desserts. Sweet potato pie just right, with good flaky crust. Light moist cupcakes, mounds of finger licking good frosting. Good milkshakes.
Free parking lot behind the restaurant, or across the street. On street parking available.
Very walkable area with small shops, bakery, other businesses nearby. Close to downtown, not far from convention center.

Pros: 100% vegan, good food, Moderate prices , Friendly helpful personnel

Cons: So-so breakfast

Awesome Selection

We come here at least once a month. I stick to the Ramsey Protein platter or Blueberry Pancakes. We order holiday meals from spiral for both Thanksgiving and Christmas - the desserts do not disappoint.

Kinda disappointing tbh

I like the concept of a vegan diner with a wide array of options, but Spiral has been really hit and miss. My experience tonight was particularly disappointing.

On my way through the metroplex on a road trip, I was craving breakfast for dinner and Spiral seemed like a good idea. Halfway through ordering I realize that they don’t have any sausage, so there goes like half of your breakfast options. The only substitution was bacon and I hesitantly chose it with the Lumberjack plate.

Aside from taking an astonishing 45 minutes to put together the single, small entree on a Monday evening, the plate was rather mediocre. The tiny portion of tofu scramble was flattened like a pancake by the container of gravy. I’m not sure if that was an accident or an attempt to make the scramble look bigger. It was only enough for a few bites and it had a very dry flavor profile of salt and pepper with nothing more. No veggies or sauce? I cringed when I bit the bacon. It was dreadfully dry and I find most vegan bacon pretty bad. This was no exception. Tempeh bacon or even a moist burger would have improved this dish, which was very dry and lifeless. The biscuit was was OK and the only redeeming aspect of the entree was the gravy.

Not only were they out of sausage, but I was informed that they only had spoons to-go. I passed on the utensil.

Slow service, bland food and just too expensive given the quality. Vegan food has come a long way over the years. Gone are the days where it’s hard to find tasty vegan meals. I’m not sure why Spiral is unable to grow and evolve with the times. Maybe this is part of why the Dallas location recently shut down? I like the idea, but they’ve become too inconsistent. I’ve had a few good meals in the past, but tonight was not one of them. In fact, tonight’s meal was maybe 2/5 stars.

Pros: Large menu, breakfast all day

Cons: Inconsistent, has become expensive, service can be slow
