Great vegan options - Edit
Had the vegan Tofish and Chips. The vegan tartar sauce was fantastic. Tofu could have been a bit more seasoned but overall great food and even more options to choose from.

Incredible menu! If you are vegan or gluten free, you MUST pay Shakey Shakey a visit. Incredible tofish burger and vegan calamari. Huge portions, very good value. Amazing customer service. Great fish and chip shop vibes. Love this place!

I was surprised to walk into a fish and chip shop and see a vegan board and a GF board. After a quick discussion with the person behind the counter she pointed out the items which were both gluten free and vegan. Had separate fryers which is amazing.

Vegan fish and chips of dreams - Edit
I was so impressed with the options here, so many things to choose from to classic tofish and chips, to vegan burgers and ‘calamari’ - everything was pretty well priced as well considering the HUGE portion sizes. The staff are super friendly in here as well!

We initially gave this one a miss due to the last review saying they don't do vegan food any longer - well, turns out that's not true, and the full vegan menu is very much still in place!
Read moreOn a return visit to Ramsgate we had the tofish, sausages, and probably the biggest mountain of chips I've ever come across for quite a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend and come back.

Would never expect to find a really great vegan menu in a fish and chips store. Was totally pleasantly surprised. The burger was delicious and topped with fresh salad. There is a vegetable patty, a "fish" patty and a "meat" patty. If you order fries, always take a size smaller. We had medium size and got felt 1kg fries in the hand😄Interesting seasoned with 12 herbs.

Has a surprisingly large vegan and gluten free menu. Really friendly staff. Nicely cooked chips and the tofish was lovely. 2 big tofu 'fishes' lovely fresh batter and the chips were well cooked. Really good value for money.

Great vegan menu - Edit
Visited with some friends today to try out the vegan options. We ate in and the staff were very helpful moving some tables together to accommodate us. All food was cooked to order and the portions were very generous and reasonably priced. We tried the tofish, calamari and sausage. Loved the shakey shakey seasoning. Overall really impressed and will definitely be back again.

Would be 5* if the app let me! This is an incredible fish and chips shop with a fully vegan menu! The best bit of which is that it has incredible fish/meat alternatives (the only calamari is vegan and is SO real!) but also wonderful trad veggie food - proper vegetable veggie burgers! It’s now a female owned business, run by three wonderful sisters, one of whom is vegan and one veggie - hence the excellent vegan options!!!

I absolutely love this place. They do so many different vegan options and I've always found the staff friendly, kind, and professional. It's a unique experience as they do their own seasoning blend. They also do vegan tartare sauce. Never seen a vegan menu so extensive in a chippie.

First time I went it was okay. The owner or manager or whoever seemed nice. She was chatty. The food was okay. Not the best chips. I’ve had great vegan chippy chips elsewhere. This visit today…heard the I’ll say owner going on about how vegan food is expensive to someone she was maybe interviewing. This is false beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, legumes, rice etc is cheap food. Certain countries eat vegan friendly foods as it’s cheap. This is great cheap food. Also whatever food you mean the cost is personal…what you think cost a lot…won’t to others. But certain food is very cheap. Also it’s the company…the brand…that can be costly. You can get anything even non vegan that is more that something else of the same thing. Walking in and wanting something vegan and hearing that I don’t care for it. The loud, I must be heard and just ear piercing noise I didn’t care for. The place needs a tidy up. I definitely won’t be back. Go online and you’ll see vegan friendly shopping at different costs. You can too be vegan, no matter your budget. Also prefer cash…yeah I bet they do. I Don’t trust!

Many Choices For Vegans - Edit
We order from Shakey regularly, perhaps too regularly 😉 and it’s always great. It’s run now by three sisters one of whom is vegan. They have a full menu for vegans with lots of choices, my personal favourites are the tofish and the battered sausage. All the vegan food is cooked in a separate frier. If you like your chips crispy tell them and they will cook them a little bit longer for you. Be careful ordering your chips as the portions are huge and don’t forget to try the secret recipe Shakey Shakey salt.

The food I have most missed is fish and chips and oh my god what an amazing meal. The staff are so friendly and so lovely, the food is so incredible, the homemade sauces are delicious and appealing to vegans and non vegans alike (carnivorous father in law hasn’t stopped talking about the tartare)

I had tofish n chips with mushy peas and vegan tartare sauce. The chips were some of the best I've had in years - proper hand cut, chunky, crispy chips. The portion was enormous - I only managed to eat half of it and I have a good appetite! Apparently you can order a child's portion even if you aren't a child - I'll do that next time so I leave room for the pineapple fritters 😋 There are two tables if you want to eat in.

Detoured here whilst visiting Margate and really recommend. Nice to have a proper ‘fish’ and chip shop lunch with excellent vegan options. They also have a little vegan ‘shop’ with a good range of vegan grocery items.

Shakey Shakey's is the go to chippy in Ramsgate. It caters very well for vegans. Chips (fries) and all other vegan options are cooked in a separate frier away from animal products as you would expect. Takeaway and eat in (from 17th May 2021) are available and service is warm and friendly. Don't forget to sprinkle the well known Shakey Shakey seasoning, made in house over your food. Delish! One word of warning, portions are huge so go very hungry!
